A new wave of redistribution will arrive in America on Jan. 1, primarily thanks to the Affordable Care Act. The president´s health-insurance plan forces those who hire, work and produce to pay full price for health care, while creating generous discounts for practically everyone else. This second redistributionist wave of the Obama era will follow a first wave of tax hikes, additional unemployment benefits, food-stamp expansions, waived work requirements for welfare benefits, etc. These measures were supposed to be temporary, intended to help people cope with the recession. The recession officially ended in mid-2009, but many of the administration´s measures continue. Regardless
Why hasn´t the GOP stepped up to the podium and talked about the fallout from OCare ?
Hannity said something interesting today about how many municipalities are cutting hours to save thousands on employee benefits. Does this mean savings for consumers and lower utilities and local taxes ? Or will We be told it means they won´t increase ?
How else do you end a history of American exceptionalism? Unfortunately for the Marxists & Islamo´s, you can´t "untrain" God´s gifts that are engrained in each generation by the generation before them...
No matter how regressive public schools have become.... No matter how many speeches Pelousy gives, telling youth to be happy to have more "free time" for fun things.
Aside from the bureaucratic nightmares, the major discovery for the lo-fo´s will be that a very small number of people are actually covered by Obamacare and that the country has been turned inside out and upside down in order to hire an army of government workers whose principal job is to control our lives.
Same message as always. Greed, envy and sloth. How to take from the haves . It is designed to destroy . Why do you think it was on those tablets Moses brought down so long ago. Oh and the Thous shall not worship false idols applies to the guy stuck in the sand trap and wandering in a desert of hatred of America ( I think we all know who that is). No name calling needed . We will leave that for the dems. having hissy fits.
I never believed what was being sold for Obamacare and that was insuring the uninsured. It has never made sense why the federal government has become entrenched in this problem because it should be handled at a state level. Letting the feds handle it becomes so unwieldy and out-of-control. Fraud enters into the picture.
What really bugs me about this whole thing is the Republicans being blamed for all of it. Someone has to start saying no to all of this spending. I do believe that there are valid "needy" cases but not to the extent we are paying right now. At some point, the working people won´t be able to keep up with non-working people. Lame excuses for not working will take over.
We will be a new nation come Jan 1. The government had been able to disguise their Socialist redistribution through the progressive income tax. Now it will be painfully obvious that 50% of the country is paying for the healthcare of the other 50%. If you think we´re divided now, just wait. The next 3-1/2 will be interesting. Will producing Americans put up with it?
Obama would not even begin to know what good work ethics are, even if someone glued them to his skinny tushie.
He made his way through life by doing and probably dealing drugs and being generally lazy by his own admission.
That is why he has no sympathy for people who earn their way through life. He hasn´t had the experience of doing that. Didn´t have to, thanks to the destructive social programs that came attached to AA.
Divide and conquer. That has been Obama´s strategy. Pitting groups against each other assures him that they won´t stand united against anything he does. This philosophy is blatantly evil and goes against everything we are. He has behaved in a manner fitting any tin pot dictator. He has privileged groups that are promoted to the detriment of others. He owns the media and they enthusiastically do his bidding. He wages war against his political opponents and uses government agencies as a vehicle. He needs us all to look to government for our needs and to look upon him as a god. Personally, I believe they miscalculated. They pushed too soon. They needed one more generation of indoctrinated lemmings to pull this off. There are still too many traditional Americans who know our history, love our country, and will not surrender our birthright without a fight.
It doesn´t ruin the work ethic, it ruins work, period. Hannity read off a hundred consequences and many were layoffs, not just small, but large business´ and corporations. Loius Gohmert has called it a " part-time" country now. ´ Food stamp president ´ has morphed into ´ part time president ´ ?.
Fish rots from the head. We are getting the lesson - if gov´t can work like it does (with pretty good compensation) why should we do more? Especially if so much of our toil goes to pay for those leeches? Greeks don´t work, we are no different.
As for C.J Roberts. I think that the Loughner murder of the Judge in Tuscon, when Rep Giffords was shot, worried him. Judge Doll (remember him D-O-L-L)a federal appeals court Judge, one step perhaps from the US supreme Court. I think he thought, let congress do their job and change Obama care; Also that: I have a family, I have a serious illness, I have my own issues here on the court. Recall the attacks on him and Court in the months leading up to the hearing.
President Obama has found someone to blame for the Affordable Care Act´s rolling failures besides Republicans. ObamaCare is the government´s fault, not his. On Thursday, Mr. Obama dropped by American University for a heart to heart with Chris Matthews, and the MSNBC host wondered who in the executive branch is responsible for the botched health-care rollout. Mr. Obama listed a few impersonal culprits including "cynicism," "Washington gridlock" and "the management of government," but he then drifted into another classic. "The challenge, I think, that we have going forward is not so much my personal management style or particular issues around White House
Jobs Report: November´s numbers were stronger than expected, a phrase rarely uttered since this president took the economic reins. But while a bigger number is always better, one good month now and then won´t cut it. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy created 203,000 jobs in November, 196,000 of which were in the private sector. Now at 7%, the unemployment rate has fallen to the lowest level in five years. What´s more, unlike in previous months, the rate´s drop came from gains in employment, not from people dropping out of the labor force. The labor force participation rate actually
Executive Orders: A liberal constitutional scholar warns of the concentration of power not only in the hands of one branch of government but in a single man who ignores the Constitution and acts of Congress on a whim. As the story goes, Benjamin Franklin emerged from Independence Hall at the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on Sept. 18, 1787, when a woman asked, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" Franklin is said to have replied, "A republic, madam — if you can keep it." The Founders designed a system of checks and balances among three
Most presidents have politically troublesome relatives: Jimmy Carter had colorful brother Billy, Bill Clinton had brother Roger, and the George Bushes had son/brother Neil, who was involved in both the savings-and-loan scandal of the 1980s and Asian "sex romps" that emerged in a messy 2003 divorce. Obama has a passel of half-siblings, but his requisite nettlesome relative may turn out to be an uncle, Onyango (Omar) Obama. In August 2011, Uncle Omar was pulled over in Framingham, Mass., for driving under the influence. His arrest revealed both several outstanding orders for his deportation and his relationship to the
RUSH: Here is Wolf Blitzer. Last night on The Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer had in Fareed Zakaria GPS. I guess Fareed had his location device with him. He calls himself "Fareed Zakaria GPS." When you´re with him, I guess, you always know where you are. And they´re talking about the impact of the passing of Nelson Mandela, and this is classic. Listen to Wolf here... BLITZER: Is it overly naive to hope and pray that maybe the death of Nelson Mandela will inspire some of those world leaders out there right now to do the right thing, to recognize that bloodshed and
WASHINGTON — Without Nelson Mandela, there might never have been a President Obama. That is the strong impression conveyed from Mr. Obama, whose political and personal bonds to Mr. Mandela, the former South African president, transcended their single face-to-face meeting, which took place at a hotel here in 2005. It was the fight for racial justice in South Africa by Mr. Mandela that first inspired a young Barack Obama to public service, the American president recalled on Thursday evening after hearing that Mr. Mandela, the 95-year-old world icon, had died. Mr. Obama delivered his first public speech, in 1979, at
RUSH: We mentioned earlier that Obama didn´t know that Obama was living with his uncle, who happened to be an illegal alien at the time. Here´s Jay Carney. This is yesterday afternoon in Washington the White House at the daily briefing. Ed Henry, the Fox News White House correspondent, said, "The White House said that in 2011, that there was no record of Obama and his uncle, Omar Obama, ever meeting. Now the Boston Globe is being told by the White House -- and I assume you can elaborate here, Jay -- that, in fact, they not only met, but
One consequence of the botched launch of Obamacare is that it has, judging from his plummeting numbers with “millennials,” diminished Barack Obama’s cool. It’s not merely that the website isn’t state-of-the-art, but that the art it’s flailing to be state of is that of the mid-20th century social program. The emperor has hipster garb, but underneath he’s just another Commissar Squaresville. So, health care being an irredeemable downer for the foreseeable future, this week the president pivoted (as they say) to “economic inequality,” which will be, he assures us, his principal focus for the rest of his term. And what’s
This column has made the point before that there are three phases of the ObamaCare catastrophe. Phase 1, the technical failure, might have been avoided had the administration had some basic standards of competence. But Phases 2 and 3 are inherent in the law. Phase 2 was the revelation that the ObamaCare enterprise is the most massive consumer fraud in American history--that the "if you like your plan, you can keep it" sales pitch was not only false but deliberately deceptive, and also that ObamaCare forces insurance companies to engage in dishonest practices such as selling maternity coverage to men and
RUSH: Now, ladies and gentlemen, you can´t escape the media and what´s going on here, and it´s all very predictable. If you just landed from Mars and turned on the TV, you may be confused over who was Barack Obama and who was Nelson Mandela, based on the way it´s being covered. Well, I´m just telling you. The Washington press corps and even the White House are moving here at full speed to associate Barack Obama with Nelson Mandela. Here, grab number three. This just gives you a taste of it here. This is Scott Pelley on the CBS Evening
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
Incompetence: Mr. President, you might not remember her, but Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is the one running the disastrous ObamaCare launch. You once met her. You two should get acquainted. Jimmy Carter was the most infamous micro-manager to be president, pestering commanders of the ill-fated 1980 Iran hostage rescue mission by two-way radio, and personally reviewing White House tennis court schedules. As to the opposite, Ronald Reagan was relentlessly accused of being out of touch. "Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don´t interfere as long as the policy you´ve decided upon is being carried
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay

Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is sending out letters telling gun owners to turn over their rifles and shotguns — or else face the consequences. New York City’s ban on rifles and shotguns that hold more than five rounds is now being enforced, according to a letter the NYPD is sending out to targeted city gun owners. “It appears you are in possession of a rifle and/or Shotgun (listed below) that has an ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition. Rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition are
Chris Matthews‘ exclusive interview with President Barack Obama was #1 in the 25-54 demo at 7pm and the second highest-rated show in the demo for all of cable news, despite airing during other network’s live coverage of Nelson Mandela’s death. With 298K viewers in the demo, MSNBC’s Hardball beat Fox’s On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, which had 218K, in the 7pm time slot. The only show with more viewers in the demo than Hardball was Fox’s The O’Reilly Factor, which had 405K viewers at 8pm. With 1.296M total viewers, Matthews came within 3K of Greta Van Susteren, who
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has high praise for potential 2016 contenders Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. “I think Joe Biden will go down in history as one of the best vice presidents ever, and he has been with me, at my side, in every tough decision that I’ve made,” Obama told MSNBC in an interview Thursday held at American University. “Hillary, I think, will go down in history as one of the finest secretaries of state we’ve ever had, and helped to transition us away from a deep hole that we were in,
