Have You Seen a Psychologist
About Global Warming Lately?

National Journal, by Amy Harder

Original Article

If only we could find a couch big enough to fit the entire human species, we could talk through what within our minds is preventing us from acting more aggressively on global warming. Buried within fights over the science, economy, environment, extreme weather, politics, and lobbying is a debate about how psychological traits ingrained in the basic human condition are preventing people from supporting more action on global warming, despite the fact that most scientists agree it’s only going to get worse unless humankind makes a concerted effort to take major action soon. Indeed, a United Nations report released Friday confirms

An inheritance from the Soviet days. If you disagree with the party line, you´re mentally ill. But they actually still believe this. Thank God they don´t yet have enough power to act on the impulse.

Isn´t there some term for a pathological psychiatric condition where so called journalists fall for every two-bit progressive huckster out there selling nothing but panic? Perhaps it is not psychological at all, but rather a genetic condition where the gene for critical analysis is missing.

A trait ingrained in the basic human condition is causing rational people to object to having their taxes raised and their economies wrecked in order to squander tens of billions of dollars every year in a foolish attempt to reduce global temperatures by an amount so small that it would not be scientifically detectable in the year 2100. That trait is called "common sense."

" ... what within our minds is preventing us from acting more aggressively on global warming ..."? Here in a NUTshell is your problem- those like you who are illiterate in science are still allowed to write about it. Ms. Harder, NOTHING in our minds has ANYTHING to do with the facts about global warming: There has been NO global warming for more than 15 years. Computer models proffered by the human-caused global warmers have NEVER worked: they DON´T predict those sky-is-falling alarms wailing from global warmers´ "MINDS". If you take Science 101, you will learn about the gold-standard of scientific proof: The Scientific Method.
Since the global warmers cannot satisfy the scientific method with their arguments, they say that the "science is settled" so they can avoid showing themselves as fools and charlatans as continual valid questioning from real science destroys their house-of-cards.

In other words, skeptics of the global warming theory are mentally impaired. If they were not impaired they would agree with true believers that the end is nigh and would repent while there is still time. Repent! or burn on earth!

This, of course, is not science but religion. More specifically it is prophesy - eschatology and apocalypticism. Computer climate modeling at its present stage has scarcely more claim to science than the reading of tea leaves or the inspection of the livers of sacrificed animals.

True believers in the dire warnings of the prophets of computer climate modeling are seldom in a position to evaluate the basis for such claims. With few exceptions they are, like Al Gore and the journalists, scientifically illiterate. They are therefore limited to the leap of faith by which they place their trust and confidence in the quasi-scientific Chicken Littles of global warming.

Global warming is shorthand for half a dozen separate questions(Is it real? Important? Man-caused? Reversible? etc.), to none of which we have the answer.

Science doesn´t work this way. Science is not performed by the leap of faith. Global warming is not science but religion. It is also a political and money-making operation for those with other-than-religious agendas.

Looked up any 30 day weather forecasts recently?
Ever planned an outdoor festival and tried to figure out whether you would have rain that day?
1. 30 day forecasts are just guesses. 10 day forecasts are no better.
2. There are no forecasting programs which predict cloud cover accurately for more than three days.
AND WE SHOULD expect 100 year forecasts to be accurate?
Give me a break.
The last 15 years has shown no warming, in glaring contrast to the EEK EEK warnings out of the UN.

I´ve been chuckling over the global warming business for years. Just a few minutes ago I read something on The Daily Caller to add to the comedy:

Top MIT scientist: Newest UN climate report is ‘hilariously’ flawed.

The article says that the UN report says:

“Their excuse for the absence of warming over the past 17 years is that the heat is hiding in the deep ocean,” Lindzen added. “However, this is simply an admission that the models fail to simulate the exchanges of heat between the surface layers and the deeper oceans.”

Everybody in favor of sending Al Gore down into the deep ocean to find the heat - say aye!

The delegation has been lobbying in Washington during the St Patrick´s Day trip for reforms to benefit the 50,000 undocumented Irish there. But in the interest of giving O’Reilly and Goldberg something else to consider, there’s a more plausible, reality-based reason the media has lost interest in this scandal: there is no scandal. President Obama has made liberal use of "executive action" throughout his presidency, and pledged to make even more use of executive action in this year´s State of the Union speech. He seems to think that because Republicans don´t want to implement his agenda, he can go around Congress.
