President Barack Obama famously promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” He later got even more specific. “If you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have,” Obama said. But as Obamacare’s rollout approaches, we have learned this is not true. Here are the ten states where consumers may like their health care plans, but they won’t be able to
We knew Obamacare was a disaster. The proof is coming out in dribs and drabs. Republicans will be sorry that they did not unite as a reasoned and rational opposition to this horrific law. Americans will punish the politicians who crammed this down our throats along with the politicians who went along to get along. The economy is about to slide into another recession directly as a result of Obamacare. Premiums are going through the roof. The quality of care will go down. There will be a shortage of doctors. You won´t get to keep your doctor or your health care plan. The most egregious affront to we the people, Congress has exempted itself. It´s about to get ugly.
Thank goodness the Republicans are united at this point. ext is to lift the exemption on all Federal employees including congress and the Supreme Court.Let Roberts enjoy the fruits of his wacky ruling.
Hubby received letters this week from two doctors who have been dropped from United Healthcare. So, THEY have not left the state of FL, but they are dropping doctors who apparently don´t meet their plan objectives. Hubby have had both doctors for 10 years and they are highly rated. Go figure!
Sorry #4, but #2 is correct. They ´united´ just enough to make it look good. But what have really done to stop this train-wreck?
As pointed out by Andrew McCarthy: "“establishment Republicans” in perfect perspective, noting that they “resist” Obama and his agenda only when they know that “resistance is futile, token and sure to be inconsequential – when it’s good for a campaign commercial about how hard the GOP is working to undo Obamacare, not when it’s about actually working hard to undo Obamacare.”
Further proof, when the town hall meeting started to really heat up, what did they do? They stopped having them. IMHO the GOP is just as much to blame for this mess.
It´s easy to widely generalize, but you surely kn ow that the House Republicans have passed effort after effort to delay, defund, destabilize and destroy Obamacare. Republican Senators have introduced bill after bill to take away this piece and that section and rewrite those. I understand which failed effort made you unhappy, but it is unfair and untrue to speak as if all Republicans are lying down in front of a perceived steamroller.
#6, I have read the reviews on United Health Care, and most of them say it is terrible. Aren´t they the one that is tied up with AARP, the lofos that cater to everything the dems want? There are any number of decent insurers in Florida. At least there were; who knows what Tuesday will bring?
What I know is that the Effete, Elite, Establishment Republicans are not “lying down in front of a perceived steamroller” they are helping to drive it! They, along with the Beltway Pundits have taken every opportunity to derail any true Conservative Republican from Sarah Palin, to of late Senator Cruz. It’s a curious thing that they waited until the very last minute, just days before the implementation date to tie the defunding or delaying of 0bamacare to a CR or Debt Ceiling bill. Why not last year? The real steamroller is coming, and that is the one being driven by all of the hard-working middle class voters out there who are being raped by Washington known as the Tea Party; we gave them the control of the house and we can take it away. Actions speak louder than words or meaningless votes.
The Obama administration expedited visa applications for about two dozen foreign investors for a Las Vegas casino hotel after pressure from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his staff, the Washington Times reported Tuesday. The Times, citing internal government documents, said the decision to overturn a prior, normally non-appealable visa decision ultimately benefited several companies whose executives have been heavy Democratic donors. The paper said it also came despite concerns about “suspicious financial activity” involving some Asian applicants. Reid, who represents Nevada, personally reached out to the top official at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Alejandro Mayorkas, setting in motion a process that
California’s budding doctor rebellion against Obamacare appears to be genuinely spontaneous, lacking leadership from a single individual or organization. As the Washington Examiner has reported in recent days, an estimated 70 percent of California´s physicians -- ranging from general practitioners to specialists -- are "just saying no" to Obamacare´s Covered California health insurance exchange. Although it appears leaderless, some observers believe that very spontaneity may make the doctor rebellion a formidable force in California’s health-care future. “Doctors are realizing what is happening and spontaneously they are acting like this. There’s a movement growing,” said Sally Pipes, president of the San Francisco-based
Democrats make a lot of silly statements. The trick isn’t finding a pronouncement by a liberal politician which — in a way nearly unique to politics — simultaneously brings a grimace, a giggle, and a groan, but figuring out whether the speaker is an outright liar or just living in a liberal echo chamber reminiscent of Pauline Kael (or at least the political mythology surrounding her). Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is a reliable representative of the outright liar camp: No echo is loud enough to make her actually believe that Democratic candidates will
It’s long been said that Democrats and their supporters who cry “racism!” at everything that smells like opposition to their left-wing agenda are misguided, or in some cases, smear merchants who lack all credibility whatsoever (looking at you, MSNBC). Well, get a load of the T-shirt that this recently departed national figure – whose impeccable left-wing bonafides should never be doubted – has on:(Snip for photo)That’s anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela wearing a T-shirt that endorses getting an ID and voting in 1998. We’ll anxiously be waiting your apology. Oh wait, you won’t apologize, will you?
No, Obamacare isn’t Katrina for Democrats. Katrina was an act of God and/or nature, a phenomenon beyond the control of mere human beings, a catastrophe not of choice, but of nature’s necessity, outside the realm of man’s will. George W. Bush didn’t cause it to happen, nothing he did could have made it not happen, and he surely did not make it worse. The federal response wasn’t inspired, but the reason this mattered was that the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana were not only perhaps the two stupidest people ever to hold public office, but the stupidest people
You know a president is in deep trouble when even an improving economy can’t boost his popularity. That’s the situation facing Barack Obama, as optimism about a less anemic recovery in the coming year has done nothing to halt the slide in his approval numbers. With every poll showing him in deep trouble, it’s time for the White House to call in reinforcements and that’s what they’ve done by getting former Bill Clinton chief of staff John Podesta to return to the West Wing as a counselor. Podesta, a veteran liberal ideologue as well as a friend of current White
Apparently having decided to embark upon a course of self-parody, the National Reconnaissance Office — the other NRO — sent out a press release sharing the logo for its new spy-satellite program, NROL-39. The image is that of an evil-looking giant octopus with its tentacles encircling the entire planet over the motto: Nothing Is beyond Our Reach.(Snip)Our relationship with the national-security and public-safety bureaucracies has changed. It used to be that you called the fireman to get your cat out of a tree; now the policeman shoots your dog. We have police rolling through the streets of such combat zones
Soweto, the Johannesburg suburb where popular resistance to apartheid set off the revolution that changed South Africa and established Nelson Mandela as the father of a new country, is the most dangerous place on the continent this week. Anyone who ventures into the street risks being crushed by the hordes of official visitors trying to get in front of a camera. It’s difficult for a hardworking president, prime minister, movie star, rap artist or mere dictator to set himself apart from the crowd of mourners, grievers and lamenters in town to exploit the ultimate photo-op. President Obama did it, however, with
It’s almost time for the first anniversary of the massacre in Sandy Hook. Naturally the Obama-run state media will be giving it round-the-clock coverage. Barack’s servile sycophants in the mainstream media will do anything to keep the low-information voters’ attention diverted from how they’re getting blued and tattooed by Dear Leader. As the common nightwalkers of the press get ready for their latest anti-gun crusade, let’s not forget who’s co-sponsoring the TV spots — Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). This organization was founded by two mayors who are now lame ducks, one of whom is Mumbles Menino. The money guy behind MAIG is
On the five-year anniversary of Bernie Madoff outing himself as the world’s most notorious white-collar criminal, the financial world still hasn’t learned some simple lessons. First, business journalists should stop listening to the fraudster himself. His multibillion-dollar scam caused at least three people to take their own lives, including his son Mark — yet Madoff remains mostly unrepentant and uncooperative. He continues to blame “the greed of others” and loves to offer his opinions on how Wall Street really works. That wouldn’t be so bad if Madoff pulled a Sammy “the Bull” Gravano and came clean about his misdeeds by giving the
The budget deal announced today is a good deal for conservatives and Republicans. From the point of view of policy, the deal is a modest achievement—which is all that can be expected, given the unfortunate fact that Barack Obama is president and Democrats control the Senate. The trade-off in the deal of minor mandatory cuts for relatively small domestic discretionary increases is basically a wash. That leaves the defense increase, which, while insufficient, is an important step in the right direction. That alone would make the deal worthwhile. But the restoration of the normal appropriations process will also have a
OK, not really praise; Roberts’s failure to strangle the Obamacare baby in its crib when he had the chance will go down alongside the Dred Scott decision as one of the greatest moral disasters in the history of the republic. The man in charge of enforcing the Constitution blinked when confronted with a triumphalist party and a then-popular president, forgetting that he, Roberts, would likely be in Washington long after Obama was gone. In an attempt to save the Supreme Court’s reputation and standing, he destroyed it. Still, even if inadvertently, Roberts got one thing right: the Patient Deflection and Unaffordable
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
