I´m sorry, but we have to
talk about the barbarism of
modern Islamist terrorism

In Western news-making and opinion-forming circles, there’s a palpable reluctance to talk about the most noteworthy thing about modern Islamist violence: its barbarism, its graphic lack of moral restraint.[Snip] Across the commentating board, people are sheepish about pointing out the historically unique lunacy of Islamist violence and its utter detachment from any recognisable moral universe or human values. We have to talk about this barbarism; we have to appreciate how new and unusual it is, how different it is even from the terrorism of the 1970s or of the early twentieth century. We owe it to the victims of these

Perhaps this is something that should be addressed by our secretary of state. He has experience in this sort of reporting:

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

Islam prescribes stonings, cutting off of limbs and beatings. Islamists rape with abandon in warfare. African tribal culture uses machetes to cut off ears and hack people to death. Put them together and this is what you get. no surprises here.

Sorry Brendan. Too late. See, you have to back about 700 years- talk about it? That´s going to do a lot of good, eh? No- it will never stop. They gain with terror and barbarism and monstrosities against civilized human beings. They get their way because they are fearful, frightening, brutal beasts. And until they are stood up to in a manner they most definitely will understand, they will not stop- they will not stop! Get that?

"I´m sorry, but. . ." is a Britishism which, when put before a subject that´s customarily very PC or distasteful or should not be talked about in front of polite or squeamish people, means I´m going to talk about this whether "it frightens the horses or not" because it´s bloody necessary, dammit! Sometimes it´s a bit "holier than thou," but more often it´s a sign of outrage and "I"ve had just about enough" from the speaker.

I should have caught that but it´s an preface I still use after all these years and it just didn´t catch my attention. I´ve never had to explain it(tone of voice is sufficent) so please forgive any clumsiness in the explanation.

Friends of ours recently moved back to our area after 11 years away, moving into an upscale school district close by, very expensive housing, etc. What they left is not what they came back to - the most stunning change in landscape for them was the huge influx of Islam, hijabs everywhere....the schools´ PC culture towards Islam, etc. Their kids had little booklets sent home that were created for new residents not familiar with the mass influx of Muslims in the area. It was stunning to read for its lecturing PC tone.

These friends decided to majorly upgrade the security system on their home once they found out how close, despite huge economic variations, they now live very close to known Somalian street gangs that no law enforcement seems able to stop proliferating. 11 yrs ago, none of this population was here. Money has not bought them distance from valid fear, and I told them it wouldn´t matter anymore. Infiltration.

I was thrilled to hear Obama finally took a stand today... after the long silence on the Kenyan massacre.

Obama declared November is Honoring Muslim Month! Yes!!!! And one goal is to expedite immigration of muslims to the US!

Oh, yes.... Our POTUS is a member of The Muslim Brotherhood... and to express solidarity with their army Al Qaeda suffering for Allah in Kenya, he honored them with their own US Month of Honor!!

Repulsive pukefest time.

Many progressives in the West have condoned this violence because they believe even something as evil as Islam is better than the Judeo-Christian religions. There is a deep seated hatred for the God of the Bible and they see His followers as their enemy. There will come a day when they will wage open violent war against Christians and believing Jews. The fact that Muslims are doing this today causes them no real concern because they have no respect for human life that does not agree with their progressive ideology.

Yes, there is a reason the left sides with these terrorists: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
We are helpless so long as Obama is president. After he is gone and, please God, a Republican is president we need to rebuild our military. Then we need to use it to crush, hunt down and kill every terrorist we can get access to. We need to make it uncomfortable enough for our immigrant Muslims so that they leave the country.

This is not new but Christians opposed it before. We need another crusade. For now, Obama has our hands tied.

Across the commentating board, people are sheepish about pointing out the historically unique lunacy of Islamist violence and its utter detachment from any recognisable moral universe or human values.

That´s because if you mention factual things like Muslims blowing up people at marathons, cutting heads off at malls, sending their five year olds strapped with C4 vests onto crowded buses to blow themselves up, you´re probably just a white Christian hater with that silly "Jesus" agenda which of course is a much bigger threat than the diversity of the Religion of Peace.

even something like the blowing-up of 85 Christians outside a church in Pakistan no longer shocks us or even makes it on to many newspaper front pages.

Well, yeah but those Christians were probably involved in the Crusades. I mean, look, Christianity murders all the time in spite of there being no evidence of it. Plus, Christians are so dangerously full of hate, unlike Religion of Peaceniks who only kill out of love for Allah.

If you cannot see the difference between a drone strike that goes wrong and kills an entire family and a man who crashes his car into the middle of a group of children accepting sweets from a US soldier and them blows himself and them up – as happened in Iraq in 2005 – then there is something wrong with you.

Well EVERY US college and university professor and EVERY single media star and EVERY single famous actor and actress and almost EVERY single US elementary and high school teacher, and EVERY single GOP leader and EVERY single elected Democrat would disagree with you on that one. Brendan, why are you such a hater?

Our anti religious media, academic, Hollywood, Washington, Congressional mal leadership, ignores the epidemic of ancient violence of Islamic supremacists, because it is almost the same destructive force as quietly growing stealth Communism. Both Communist cancerous stealth and Muslim jihad ideologies are the same driven, violent, totalitarian rules to conquer and destroy all non communists, all non Islamist infidels. Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller report on world wide Islamic violence each and every day with brilliant accuracy. Our Diane Sawyer TV news actors are blinded and ignore all Islamic terror, just as they ignore the advancement of Leninist and Stalinist Marxism here in America, right under our noses. Islamicists deny the Holocaust and hate all Jews and other infidels to the death. Our communist media hate all Christian religions. Schumer, Feinstein, Bloomberg apparently deny the holocaust as they robotically program for controlling people with guns, the exact same thing Hitler did to his people.

Obamacide (communist medicine), debt, Benghazi, illegal aliens, gun confiscation, our American drug cartel, laundering and printing billions, a destructive Communist trained impersonator in the White House, all add up to an unprecedented, ongoing chaos.

The New Media, the Tea Party, a quiet mass of conservatives and libertarians, can save us, with an unusually outspoken elected like Ted Cruz. Let´s hope he does not turn into a soft soap sellout turncoat like Marco Rubio, or a non confrontative nice guy like Mitt Romney.

Our entire establishment has tied their own hands. They cannot afford to address the evils of Islamic terrorist jihads, precisely because that frightening violent dictatorial ideology is very much like their own quietly advancing cancer of communist ideology invading our government, media, Hollywood, academe and press.

Re: Number 2 "Mitzi"
I hope that your post was tongue in cheek, because as a two-tour veteran of the Vietnam War, I can assure you that John Kerry was and remains a self-promoting, venal, lying SOB. And to infer as he did that any, exceedingly rare atrocity that might have committed by a troop somewhere was condoned by the leadership is a flat-out lie. Furthermore, the truth about Kerry´s ´compatriots´ in his lies is that none of them actually served in combat in Vietnam and many never wore a uniform at all--ever! Islam has a problem and it needs a Reformation-Counter-reformation very badly. No God commands His children to murder other of His children.

I don´t think that thoughtful readers appreciate the level of ignorance that characterizes most Americans and the level of political correctness and shibboleth worship that characterizes the putatively ´intellectual´. We say this all the time, but it´s generally far worse than we think. There is also the issue that the ´intellectual´ are almost totally ignorant of anything but their microspecialties.

When tolerance becomes the last virtue of society and becomes lost, this signals a dying society. Muslim extremists are the best example.

But, look at what you see right here in good old America. While the progressive left hates our (tea partier) guts for our notion of America as a Constitutional republic (I certainly do not hold the average lib voter, even the lo fos, in the same regard as a radical muslim), the disappearance of tolerance in America is a dangerous signal of our own society´s future.

Schizophrenia is not evenly distributed across the world. Some places have a rate far higher than 4.5%, and others have a rate below 1%.

There are different kinds as well.

The fact that schizophrenia exists at all suggests it has some otherwise obscure survival value. However, it´s incompatible with civilized living. Eventually there´ll be a cure (which will require genetic manipulation since the whole spectrum is related to specific alleles). When the cure comes Islam will probably disappear like it never existed. So will the Democrat party!

Does Islam create such sick individuals or does it instead attract and nurture them by bestowing them with a legitimacy they would lack elsewhere by glossing over their propensity towards barbarism with a cause? Consider the success Islam has with jailhouse conversions in America. Consider also how fast the jihadists can wear out their welcome among the local Muslim population where they obtain control.

Look at or own homegrown non-Islamic terrorists. Did Marxism make Bill Ayers into a bomber or is he a nihilistic spoiled brat who seized upon it as an excuse?

I, for one, am not sorry that we "have to talk about the barbarism of modern Islamist terrorism", and it is not just a "modern" disease either. It is about time that we had this conversation.

We Americans always seem to forget history and thus we are "doomed to repeat it" much like Sisyphus in Greek mythology. Sisyphus was punished (for chronic deceitfulness BTW) by having to roll an immense boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this action forever.).

America is so new on the stage of world history that we are downright naive. Since most of our citizens have been dumbed down in the last 50+ years, half our population doesn´t understand that the camel´s nose (more like his body up to his first hump) is now "under the tent". Our current POTUS is a Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer and is "deceitful" (think of his many lies that have been revealed since he took office). Unfortunately lying is okay in the Islamist world, because lying to the infidels is what is called for to win victories for Allah).

Muslims have a long history of nothing but terror and destruction as it attempts to dominate the world for Islam. Mosques are going up all over our country and in Europe, and that should be worrisome.

At this point in our years as a nation, we better wake up and just pray that there is in our midst a Jan III Sobieski(the Polish King who was famous for the victory over the Turks (Muslims) in the 1683 Battle of Vienna (see the Gates of Vienna). Sobieski was held as the saviour of European Christendom by the Pope. Of course, that only lasted until September 1, 1939, when Hitler(another kind of world disease) invaded Poland.

I doubt they feel it necessary to state a goal or political objective but feel the Koran states their goal clearly: conquest of the world and the imposition of sharia law on every person on earth. The terror is not new. Islamists have been conquering and committing atrocities on the infidels since the sixth century. The crusades were a response to a particularly lively set of incursions. We will eventually have to do something similar (again, we´ve been fighting them since the birth of the country, see Barbary War) or capitulate. Diplomacy is a guaranteed loser with Islamists who happily negotiate when they need to gather strength for more attacks.

Immortalised in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem about the “valley of death”, the Charge of the Light Brigade is remembered as one of the most glorious defeats in British history. The documents overturn much of the established wisdom of the battle and provide clues as to how the calamitous attack, during the Battle of Balaclava, in the Crimean War, came to be accidentally launched. [Snip] The charge saw the light cavalry mount an assault into a valley flanked, on three sides, by Russians. Lord Raglan, overall commander of the British forces, had intended to send the Light Brigade to pursue and

We can predict forward up to two solar cycles, that is about twenty-two years into the future. When models of solar activity are further refined, we may be able to predict climate

Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this--that periods of warming

At least six Birmingham schools accused of harbouring a Trojan horse plot run by Muslim fundamentalists will be placed under special measures by Ofsted. The action is understandable. The unsubtle attempts to insert Islamist ideas--representing an extremist, politicised form of Islam--into the curriculum of those schools makes for frightening reading. The unsigned and undated letter claimed that a small but radical group of Muslims was pursuing its own agenda in the classrooms, with uncooperative headteachers and governors forced out.

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

The Clintons had a busy night of celebrations after Chelsea announced she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting a baby. Bill joined “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey at the Revlon Rainforest Fund Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall Thursday, joking of Spacey’s Machiavellian character, “When I was president people accused me of murder all the time, made a show of investigating. Spacey’s president for 15 minutes and he gets away with murder.” Spacey, who sang during the event with Sting, Stephen Stills and James Taylor, also showed off his Johnny Carson impression, taking a swipe at the coverage of Flight

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
