House to attach 1-year
ObamaCare delay to CR?

Hot Air, by Ed Morrissey

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 9/28/2013 1:06:24 PM

The House will send a continuing resolution to the Senate sometime today, but not the clean CR that the Senate sent to the House. Instead, Speaker John Boehner and the Republican caucus plan to approve a new stopgap funding measure that includes a one-year delay in the ObamaCare individual mandate, exchanges, and subsidies, as well as a repeal of an unpopular tax on medical devices: With a government shutdown less than three days away, the House is charging toward delaying Obamacare for one year and repealing the medical device tax in exchange for funding the government, several sources tell POLITICO. A plan

Comments:
I keep reading that Obama and the Dems are panicked at the thought of an individual mandate delay because then there would be time to begin bulldozing the whole thing,

If they delay it for a year just make sure the ear is up on Oct. 1, 2014, period. Then have a vote on it again. People might actually remember who voted for it a month before an election, whereas they won´t remember a year in advance.

I do not recall any leader decrying Obamacare because it strips taxpaying citizens of their freedom. What I hear most often is 1) Obamacare isn´t working or 2) It was passed at midnight or 3) it was passed with 100% partisan vote.

While 1), 2) and 3) bad, 90% of my outrage at Obamacare is "who does the government think it is, taking over the relationship between me and my doctor". I think my concerns will soon be realized by the public - woe unto our government when that happens.

I´ll wager that, secretly, many Dems would like to just throw their arms up and say the heck with it, it´s a mess and it ain´t gonna work. But they have too much invested, along with pressure from their leaders to mush on regardless.

As other articles here have noted, the whole thing could implode on its own.

Just one impediment: They will never get the various computer systems (exchanges, HHS, IRS. et. al.) to communicate with each other. Many others (snags, impediments, whatever) have been discussed here as well.

How long has the FAA been trying to convert the Air Traffic Control System to GPS from ground-based radar stations? 20 years?

#3 ~ Obama-KKK-are is simple tyranny ~ don´t know what else you can say about it once you say that.

The one thing I don´t want in my way when I need medical care is the gub´mnt or it´s ministers or its agents with their jackboots and filthy blue gloves.

If I have to carry a firearm to visit the doctor I´ll do that. If my doctor asks me questions I don´t want to answer, I won´t answer ~ if she says she´ll get punished if she doesn´t get the answers I´ll tell her to pass it on to the jackbooted thugs "come and get me coppers" ~

We really don´t have to take any of this lying down., We do not need to be nice to the fascists and their running dog lackeys. No more Mr. Nice Guy ~ and as far as their families, I see no reason to be polite or leave them out of the invective. They knew that when they got married and had kids ~ time to target all their spawn.

Now you don´t need to kill someone to be impolite to the point of boorishness ~ so don´t do any of that sort of thing unless they attack you ~ but these people should not experience another day in their lives without an unkind word.

The Hill also reports:

The GOP also plans to consider a separate bill that would ensure members of the military are paid even in the event of a government shutdown.

The GOP bill also funds the government through Dec 15, instead of the Nov 15 date in the Senate bill...

One point overlooked in all these repeated CR and Debt limit crises/ mismanagement is that there has been no Government Budget presented by the Democrats in all five years of BO´s incumbency - this is the real tragedy that they have scooted by with parliamentary trickery and procedures avoiding the issue of unbridled spending the nation into and beyond bankruptcy. People who criticize Cruz and Lee and Co are totally missing the point that these courageous and true hearted guys stood up and made the rest of the Republican sheep take notice, sheep who should rightly be embarrassed that they have been willing to roll over and let this lack of budget fester on and on. It´s high time to shut this rotten government down and then maybe restart it one department at a time - maybe that way we can rid ourselves of a lot of DC deadwood.

I´m all for getting rid of the medical devise tax because it was put in there to raise the costs of a procedure so a death panel type bureaucrat can say it´s too expensive. It´s crazy to hamstring an emerging industry like medical devises anyway.

Bandaids, bandages, staples, catheters....... those are all medical devices taxed under Obama-KKK-are.

They intend to tax diabetics to death.

Obama has an easy out. He can sign that CR but ignore any ObamaCare delay provision.

He can issue a signing statement to that effect. No one can stop him. He is immune from impeachment because the Senate will never remove him.

But don´t expect O to do it. His ego will not allow the finesse. And Reid and the Senate Democrats would have to agree.

I say shut it down. We have a rotten government and I expect nothing but disaster from it.

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare, the CBO projected that 9 million people would buy Obamacare-compliant insurance through newly established government-run exchanges. Now, after an enrollment period that his administration expanded by about two months—to more than half a year—President Obama says that 8 million people have “signed up” for (but in many cases haven’t actually bought) insurance through those exchanges. The Obama administration’s stated goal was to have 39 percent of those who bought such insurance be between the ages of 18 and 34. Now Obama says the actual percentage is 28 percent. Only in Washington, D.C. could someone

House Democrats, battered by Koch brothers ads and facing a grim outlook for the midterms, are providing the clearest indication yet of how they plan to respond: By shoring up imperiled incumbents and only the most promising challengers, but most likely leaving some of the party’s upstart hopefuls to fend for themselves. The strategy, detailed in nearly two dozen interviews with party officials and strategists, is a tacit acknowledgement of the ominous political environment Democrats are up against this year. The goal is to stop Republicans from padding their 17-seat edge and keep the party within striking distance of the majority

Washington – The National Republican Senatorial Committee, a group tasked with getting Republicans elected to the Senate, believes Republicans have expanded the 2014 playing field with five more contested races as the GOP seeks to retake control of the chamber. In a memo released to consultants Friday morning, NRSC political director Ward Baker writes that Republicans have become competitive in Colorado, New Hampshire, Virginia, Oregon and Minnesota since the start of the year. That´s in addition to nearly 10 Senate seats the NRSC has been aggressively targeting.

Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive.
