Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain hired the Syria analyst in favor of U.S. intervention who was fired for fabricating her Ph.D., Foreign Policy reported. Elizabeth O’Bagy, formerly of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), will start Monday as a legislative assistant in Sen. McCain’s office. McCain told Foreign Policy that “Elizabeth is a talented researcher, and I have been very impressed by her knowledge and analysis in multiple briefings over the last year.” The senator’s office said they would not make any further comment on O’Bagy’s employment.

Whatever they have on McCain, they´re really making him jump to their tune, aren´t they, blatantly. Either that, or senile dementia has struck him.

McCain´s 2008 concession speech, unfortunately delivered one month before the election, giving everyone permission to vote to "make history".

In the past, I´ve paid tribute to McCain´s service in the military and for his endurance as a POW. Now, I´m beginning to rethink what may have happened during his time as a POW. I think that I recall that a superior officer had to admonish him for his behavior. Given his historical propensity for joining with the other side, I am beginning to wonder, "How back does that go?"

As far as I can surmise, it is cobweb heaven between his ears. He is too old an old coot to be responsible for making decisions for anyone.

Secretary of State John Kerry warned of serious repercussions for Russia on Monday if last-ditch talks over the weekend to resolve the crisis in Ukraine failed to persuade Moscow to soften its stance. Kerry will travel to London for a Friday meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ahead of a Sunday referendum vote in the Crimea region to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation. U.S. and European officials argue that Moscow is orchestrating the referendum and waging an intimidation campaign with thousands of Russian troops controlling the region. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, R, offered his help with the GOP House of Representatives on a stalled Ukraine assistance bill in a hot-mic moment with Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday. After Kerry finished an appearance before the Senate Appropriations Committee, microphones caught Graham telling Kerry: "Hey John, good job! Let me know what I can do to help you with [GOP House Speaker John] Boehner." The House passed Ukraine assistance legislation earlier this week, but Senate leaders rejected it on Wednesday, making for a familiar bit of congressional gridlock.

Although the government shutdown continues, it appears President Barack Obama and the White House are not getting any closer to negotiating with Republicans. A quotation from an unnamed senior administration official in today´s Wall Street Journal explains why. Said a senior administration official: "We are winning...It doesn´t really matter to us" how long the shutdown lasts "because what matters is the end result." With this view, it explains why President Obama won´t agree to any piecemeal legislation that would keep Veterans Affairs and NIH open during the shutdown. That reference prompted the senators´ curiosity. "At a time federal agency budgets have been tightened by the sequester and the White House has warned of cuts to basic programs,

How much more will Americans take? The “fundamental transformation” of America proceeds apace. The erosion of our freedoms and traditions, once incremental and barely perceptible, accelerates daily. Armies of bureaucrats commanded by political ideologues remarkable mainly for their galactic incompetence intrude on ever more aspects of our lives — aspects both large and small. They tell us what light bulbs we’re allowed to use and how much water we may flush. They stick swabs in our mouths to collect our DNA and order us to buy health insurance we don’t want.

There were times this past week when it seemed like the 19th-century Know-Nothing Party had returned to Washington. President Obama insisted he knew nothing about major decisions in the State Department, or the Justice Department, or the Internal Revenue Service. The heads of those agencies, in turn, insisted they knew nothing about major decisions by their subordinates. It was as if the government functioned by some hidden hand. Clearly, there was a degree of willful blindness in these claims. However, the suggestion that someone, even the president, is in control of today’s government may be an illusion.

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital.
