Today, the freedom of Americans to control their own health care needs is being threatened by massive governmental interference. Those attempting to fundamentally change America are attempting to take control of the most important thing any of us possesses: our health. It often comes at a heavy cost, but freedom is worth fighting for. In 1836, the brave defenders of the Alamo went down to defeat by Mexican Gen. Santa Anna and his army, which was 10 times greater in number than the defenders under the command of Lt. Col. William Barret Travis. Not all of the 200 defenders were
The problem with defeating Obamacare at this point is the conversation has little to do with the "merits" of the plan ,becoming instead a preservation of Obama´s legacy and "signature" achievement.I won´t even comment on how it´s a ticking time bomb to destroy the lifestyle of Americans can be considered an achievement. Any third rate clown can throw trillions at a problem and claim victory.Never mind that it´s a horrible bang for the buck scheme.
A real healhcare plan would have resulted in the same kind of competition we see in auto insurance.
The government is hiring thousands of healthcare bureucrats at the fed, state and local level. This is the same model the Brits use where healthcare spending is aimed at preserving the bureaucratic infrastucture instead of serving patient needs.Billions of dollars will be wasted on simple paper pushers instead of being cycled into consumer savings.
Dr.Carson´s off the cuff remark about universal medical savings accounts is the real answer but the government doesn´t want to cede power to the individual.
The real crwoning achievement of Obama care was to pass a plan that siad "everyone must purchase health insurance" while in the next breath exempting millions of political allies.
I´m pretty sure I saw at some point where people who have been victims of historical oppression are exempted. maybe this is why you don´t hear minorities complaining about this scheme.Transgenders who can´t help being born in the wrong body will get free gender reassignment surgery.
Men like Dr. Carson are so uniquely American is it impossible to ignore. His core values formed by a wise and dedicated mother are inescapably rooted in the American idea. His is a life story to celebrate because it is a story of hard work, sacrifice, respect, and determination. He is not an angry man who believes he was held down by the man. He is a man who owns his success. He worked for it and he sacrificed for it. He EARNED it.
Yesterday was an uplifting day. With the words from two brave men Senator Cruz and Dr. I believe that this is God´s way of giving us a moment of hope before it gets very bad for a while. Two men who were raised to be responsible and were taught to pray.
ROBERTS: [on throwaway cell): I´ve done what you wanted: I twisted the Constitution into a pretzel to vote for the PPACA. Now, the tape. You promised me that tape.
All right. Special Courier, my office, ten minutes. I´m getting the only copy that exists, correct? That´s what we agreed to.
I´m putting on my tinfoil hat. Roberts is smart enough to know what he was unleashing on the country. But he voted yes. And his reasoning was bizarre by any standard.
You could argue that he wanted to bring the Court together, that he didn´t want to infringe on the powers of another branch, whatever. His vote simply doesn´t pass the smell test. I don´t think we´ll ever know the whole story behind that vote.
It goes far beyond socialized medicine. The courts no longer respect the constitution and grant the goobernment ever expanding and unconstitutional powers. The IRS, NSA and EPA are but a few agencies that attack citizens in an effort to eliminate constitutional freedoms. Local goobernments think it is their responsibility to force people to eat and drink what the goobernment deems acceptable. The intrusion into religion is right out of famous dictators’ playbook (Lenin, Hitler, Mao). The greatest threat to peace in this world isn´t Muzzies, commies or global climate change, but our own goobernment. By destroying the one country founded a dedicated to liberty and freedom, our goobernment insures totalitarian dictatorships around the global for generations to come. And to over throw such totalitarianism, it will cost millions if not billions of lives. The price of liberty and freedom is less now than if we choose to wait till later.
I was listening to talking heads on Fox last night discussing tactics. What disturbed me was that their acceptance of the fact that no matter what the House passes, Harry Reid will rewrite it after cloture and pass it with 51 votes. These strategist "logical" approach was to keep throwing bills at Harry until he let something through. This is tyranny of the 51st percent. We have to win the control of the Senate in 2014 if we are to have a hope of retaining any liberty.
Sorry but I pressed post it too soon. What we need is a massive lay off in one day, say 1 million workers. That will wake up the country as to what is going on. God bless Dr. Carson and Ted Cruz. What we have here now is the tyranny of the minority.
Dr. Carson is a real American; I love this man. Unlike 0bama and Big 0prah who always whine and carry on that blacks are not being treated fairly and not getting their fair share. Dr. Carson uses his influence and a great deal of his money to really "help" the blacks; he and his wife set up college funds to educate them and encourage responsibility. 0bama and Big 0prah do not give one dime to help them; they simply use their vile mouths to criticize the rest of us for not accepting them for the way they are. Please, Dr. Carson go into politics and help our ailing country.
Someone, namely a real journalist, needs to ask these pro-ACA Senators/Congressmen about their investments in the industries that stand to get filthy rich as a result of Obamacare. That would specifically be the drug companies.
...those of us who love the Judeo-Christian values upon which our country was founded and under which it flourished in the past, must not dwell on past mistakes, but learn from them. We must not capitulate to secular progressives, and unlike them, we should be loving and kind. But most importantly, we must never give up.
This dear gentleman doctor is a combination of Abraham Lincoln ("with malice toward none") and Winston Churchill("never, never, never, give in"). He realizes we are in the fight for our nation´s soul against those who belittle and devalue the thing that causes the soul to soar like an eagle - freedom.
How ironic that the first black president´s agenda is to enslave America, when he himself has been free to soar to heights most Americans can only dream about - being President of the greatest country ever established by man.
Reply #3 nailed it. Dr. Carson´s argument for universal medical savings accounts would require the government to cede power to the individual.
David Horowitz has pointed out that with progressives, the issue is never the issue; the issue is always power. In trying to figure out to why progressives do something, applying Horowitz´s advice usually takes me right to the answer.
What great material for a real leader. I´m sure he´s not interested, but wouldn´t it be grand if he was the first truly black president? You have greatly admire any black conservative because they walk on hot coals every time they open their mouths. All I can say is God Bless you Dr. Carson.
Dear Dr. Carson: thank you for writing this. I wonder if you are aware that at the battle of Goliad in this same war, that on a horrible Easter Sunday, Santa Anna spared the Texian doctors? Yes, physicians are very revered, and you have been given special gifts that now can produce a salve for our aching hearts. We ask you: what ails America? What is your honest assessment of the mental health of our leaders? Has America elected addicts to high office? And what does the doctor prescribe for our national fever?
Tea party groups and fiscal conservatives wasted no time Wednesday in savaging a bipartisan budget agreement negotiated between House Republicans and Senate Democrats, drawing an unusually angry response from House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. All sides were rating the winners and losers in the deal struck a day earlier between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, Washington Democrat. The modest deficit-cutting deal had some sweeteners for defense contractors and oil drillers, while air travelers, federal workers and some corporate executives would take a hit.
The White House blasted Republicans on Wednesday for criticizing President Obama’s decision to shake hands with Cuban leader Raul Castro. “There used to be a pretty important principle, that originated in the Republican Party, I believe, that partisan politics should stop at the water’s edge,” said White House deputy press secretary Joshua Earnest. “It’s unfortunate that we did see a number of Republicans yesterday who criticized the president for a handshake.” Mr. Obama shook hands with Mr. Castro on stage in South Africa at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio — It doesn’t take long to realize that Jim Majoros is passionate about his job, as he ponders the hue of a new hunting rifle he’s working on. “I’m going to call it ‘Persephone,’ ” he said, referring to the Greek goddess. “It’s going to be light green in color, you know, more soft, but for women who want to hunt.” Business is brisk for gunsmiths such as Majoros, who repairs and customizes firearms in this small Lake Erie beach town east of Cleveland. This year, more than 82,000 new concealed-carry weapons licenses were issued in Ohio
House Republicans appeared Wednesday to be rallying around an $85 billion deal to avert another government shutdown, brushing off complaints from their right wing that the effort would trade immediate spending cuts for less-certain long-term savings. After conducting a series of closed-door briefings and polling members during a late-afternoon vote, GOP leadership aides confidently predicted that the deal struck between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) would sail through the House when it comes to a vote Thursday. The moment seemed to mark a potentially significant shift by House Republicans away
A year that began with President Barack Obama riding high after his re-election victory and inauguration ends with him in the biggest hole of his presidency. A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds the president with more Americans disapproving of his job performance than ever before; with half saying they’re either disappointed or dissatisfied with his presidency; and with 54% believing he’s facing a long-term setback. Perhaps more significantly, Obama has seen a drop in key presidential attributes, such as being honest and straightforward, being able to handle a crisis and being able to achieve his goals. “These are
The federal health-care law is becoming a heavier political burden for President Barack Obama and his party, despite increased confidence in the economy and the public´s own generally upbeat sense of well-being, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll suggests. Disapproval of Mr. Obama´s job performance hit an all-time high in the poll, at 54%, amid the flawed rollout of the health law. Half of those polled now consider the law a bad idea, also a record high. The survey of 1,000 adults conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8 found a sharp erosion since January in many of the
House and Senate negotiators announced Tuesday evening a $1.012 trillion two-year budget deal to replace some of the automatic spending sequester budget cuts and avert another government shutdown in January. Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, said the two-year plan is a win for Republicans since it reduces the deficit by $23 billion without raising taxes or sacrificing core conservative values. “As a conservative, I think this is a step in the right direction. What am I getting out of this? I’m getting more deficit reduction. So the deficit will go down more by passing this than if we did nothing,”
More than half of Senate Republicans facing reelection next year face potentially viable tea party challenges — a historically large threat to the GOP establishment that could, once again, kill the party’s chances of taking back control of the chamber. A surprise challenge to Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 GOP leader, emerged at the last minute before Texas’s election filing deadline late Monday, and on Tuesday a conservative group with deep pockets threw its financial support behind a radiologist, who has never run for office, in a primary against Sen. Pat Roberts (Kan.), a 16-year veteran. Many of the
The current continuing resolution on federal spending expires in January, and Paul Ryan (on behalf of the Republican House) has been negotiating with Patty Murray (on behalf of the Democratic Senate) for an agreement to set spending levels for the remainder of FY 2014. It is not hard to understand the political considerations that drive House Republicans: the Democrats have been threatening to shut down the government again, as a means of diverting attention from the Obamacare fiasco. Republican understandably don’t want that to happen. But in policy terms, today’s agreement, while not terrible, represents a step backward. Spending levels
Senator Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) was quick to announce his opposition to the Murray-Ryan budget deal: We need a government with less debt and an economy with more good paying jobs, and this budget fails to accomplish both goals, making it harder for more Americans to achieve the American Dream. Instead, this budget continues Washington’s irresponsible budgeting decisions by spending more money than the government takes in and placing additional financial burdens on everyday Americans. In the short run, this budget also cancels earlier spending reductions, instead of making some tough decisions about how to tackle our long-term fiscal challenges
Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) walked out of the memorial service for Nelson Mandela when Cuban “president” Raúl Castro began speaking. “Senator Cruz very much hopes that Castro learns the lessons of Nelson Mandela,” said Sean Rushton, Cruz’s communications director. “For decades, Castro has wrongly imprisoned and tortured countless innocents. Just as Mandela was released after 27 years in prison, Castro should finally release his political prisoners; he should hold free elections, and once and for all set the Cuban people free.” Earlier in the day, President Obama shook hands with Castro.
SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Forget about setting up those kegs or buffet tables in the parking lot before this season´s Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium. There will be no tailgating, according to the game´s committee CEO, Al Kelly. "You will be allowed to have food in your car and have drink in your car," Kelly said. "And provided you´re in the boundaries of a single parking space, you´ll be able to eat or drink right next to your car. However, you´re not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you´re not going to be able to take out
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. This lmao! Michelle Obama vs Prime Minister of Denmark at Mandela´s ceremony. pic.twitter.com/Rq4uF9fTaZ — Stun (@TheBlogPirate) December 10, 2013
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
