A Winner Heard 'Round the World
American Spectator, by Hal G.P. Colebatch

The election of Tony Abbott as Prime Minister of Australia, destroying the incumbent center-left Labor Government by a thumping majority (his party, confusingly for some in the U.S., is called the Liberal Party) should be a lesson for conservatives around the world. One not-untypical commentator, Bernard Keane, claimed, on Abbott taking the leadership by a single vote in 2009: “Abbott will reduce the party to a reactionary rump struggling to accept the 20th, let alone the 21st, century.”

Great article.
The difference between Romney and Abbott-Abbott was a " combative conservative" with integrity and he WON big as did the Australian people.
Gillard lied about the carbon tax to get elected and then promptly rammed it through.
Elections have consequences -Americas nightmare began with Obama and his Islamo communist cabal-it will only end with a tidal wave of Conservatism to restore our government, economy and military.
Benghazi is Hillary´s legacy as SOS -she cannot ever be allowed to enter WH.

Abbott´s views on maternity leave are classic northern European on the model of Sweden and Norway, if not worse. He´s going to impose an extra tax on big business to pay for it. In some ways he´s a conservative but in other ways he is socialist.

There is no such thing as a true conservative leader in Australia, and there never will be. The people have a welfare mentality that must be pandered to.

Recently, Republican governor Chris Christie has come under fire for his alleged involvement in a traffic crisis caused by lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, supposedly predicated on some bitter revenge plot meant to punish a political opponent. Now, he´s making headlines and under intense scrutiny as the subject of a federal probe regarding a $25 million advertising campaign in the wake of Hurricane Sandy last year. It´s not surprising that the media is capitalizing on an opportunity to paint a prominent Republican in a negative light. We´ve come to expect no less when they smell blood in the water. But

The Tea Party Leadership Fund will announce on Friday an effort it plans to undertake to search for a candidate to primary House Speaker John Boehner, Breitbart News has learned exclusively. The group is funding a $25,000 ad campaign against Boehner and a petition drive at PrimaryBoehner.com with a goal of collecting 1 million signatures by Jan. 31. Radio’s Rusty Humphries, a spokesman for the Tea Party Leadership Fund, is leading the group’s effort to find a candidate. “John Boehner has declared war on conservatives demanding lower taxes and limited government,” Humphries said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News. “Today

Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) have wrongly and outrageously cut the budget on the backs of the U.S. military. On December 26 President Obama signed a new bipartisan bill that includes a $6 billion cut from military members´ retirement. These cuts to COLA (cost-of-living adjustments) also affect medically retired veterans, including those wounded in combat. American Thinker interviewed those who are directly affected. Amongst Congress and the president there is always the talk of how those serving, past and present need to be admired for their sacrifices. The Republican establishment´s war against the Tea Party has come to Texas. According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, "Some of Texas’ biggest business trade groups are moving to counter tea party and anti-government forces that have dominated recent Republican primaries." The Texas Future Business Alliance, described as a "mix of 10 major business groups, including the chemical industry, bankers, builders and contractors," is reportedly "sending out mailers and providing other support on behalf of GOP candidates" who favor more government spending and want to take on the Tea Party. The award winning sitcom M*A*S*H of the ‘70s and early ‘80s was based on a surgical unit in Korea during the Korean War. One of the characters was Corporal Klinger, a soldier who dressed in woman’s clothing hoping to convince the Army he was insane and therefore would qualify for discharge per Section 8 of United States Army Regulations. I mention this because it is the only explanation that fits Paul Ryan’s agreement to cut military veteran benefits or, at least, the only acceptable explanation for veterans and the Republican Party base. In December of 2012, Paul Ryan (R.,WI) and Patty Murray

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) seems determined to undo the political advantage the GOP has gained from the disastrous implementation of ObamaCare. According to the New York Times, Boehner “has signaled he may embrace a series of limited changes to the nation’s immigration laws in the coming months,” bringing up a series of bills to advance that agenda. Apparently Boehner is holding firm to the belief that the need for some kind of “reform” outweighs the risks of alienating his core constituency. According to the Boehner’s aides, the Speaker is considering a “step by step” process, though they did not identify these

That´s wrong. For once I agree with our Dear Leader -- kinda. Yes, it´s wrong, but it´s wrong because Obama is wrong. For two reasons. First, very few families with two kids earn the minimum wage. From the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), we get these observations: Minimum wage workers tend to be young. Although workers under age 25 represented only about one-fifth of

Black dogs don´t get as adopted as easily as others animals of other colors. The reason is largely because of some common misconceptions about them. Black dogs are mischaracterized as mean and potentially violent and according to NBC News. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon in which dogs with black fur often go unadopted because of misinformed stereotypes. Black dogs are are euthanized at a much higher rate than dogs with different complexions. Many owners of black dogs say they are sweet, lovable, but also unwanted. The chances of being adopted are poor if you´re a black dog.

AUSTIN, Texas — In October, Susan, a woman who lives in Willacy County in Texas’ southernmost tip, found out she was pregnant. She is married and has three children, and for a few weeks last fall, she couldn’t afford her birth control. Her condition, to her, was not entirely good news. “I weighed out the pros and cons,” she said. “But I didn´t want to have another baby.” Susan asked her gynecologist about getting an abortion, but the doctor said she didn’t perform the procedure. For women in her area, there was only one place to go: Reproductive Services of Harlingen, where

Now the bill has taken tangible form. Here it is, all 2,860 pages, including explanatory statements: The House is expected to vote on the omnibus spending bill tomorrow, less than 48 hours after copies became available. No one will have read the law; this is government by press release. The bill is advertised at $1.1 trillion, but in the brief time available, Republican Senate staffers have found that it actually spends $18
