A photo of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel signing for South Florida autograph broker Drew Tieman in early January has been obtained by ESPN. It is the first visual representation of Manziel signing for Tieman. In the photo, which two sources have confirmed as legitimate, Manziel, in a long-sleeve maroon shirt, is standing over a covered pool table signing photos of his image while Tieman oversees the process. The photo, according to sources, was taken in the Fort Lauderdale apartment in which Tieman was living at the time.
Only the pigs at the NCAA, feeding at the trough of fb revenues, along side the schools involved, are allowed to make money. They can sell Manziel´s jersey to the fans, for a handsome profit, but Manziel may not take a penny from anyone. It is time for the schools to kill the NCAA, and replace it with rational rules.
Schools and kids enter into a symbiotic relationship with sports scholarships. Got no sympathy for either side. Wanna make money off football, kid...skip college and go play for the Mahoning Valley Thunder. Play for an education...there are plenty in line for that deal.
No civil or criminal laws are at issue here. There are NCAA "rules" about "amateur" status. Apparently that status means the NCAA can license your name and image for the cover of a video game to make millions. Most players never see the NFL and even fewer actually get a marketable education. The NCAA is complicit in getting unprepared students into college for the purpose of pimping them as athletes only to forget they existed when their eligibility is up.
It is past time for the NFL (and the NBA) to set up a minor league to develop those high school players who have the potential to be NFL stars and turn college athletics back into a place for scholar athletes.
It looks to me like this kid is the new Tebow. If anybody really thinks college stars don´t get gifts and perks on the side they´re crazy.Where do dirt poor players get their shiny new suits to wear to awards and drafts? I guess rent all center has opened a clothing branch.
I don´t think the left wing sports media wants a rising star white QB making it to the pros to upstage 5 or 6 black QB´s who are making big names for themselves.
You´ll never hear the end of black QB´s not being able to run the ball and instead making them pocket passers on the par of white QB´s. They ruined McNabb by hounding him not to run when he was very successful when he did.
There´s "scientific" QB´s which are white and athletic QB´s which are black. To me, you use the tools God gave you to succeed and not listen to carpers and naggers in the stands and booths.
Vice President Biden promoted local economic development Thursday, and also weighed in on the Senate dispute over filibuster. (Snip)Biden, a Delaware native, visited the new Capriotti´s outpost in downtown Washington, D.C., for a takeout order to be consumed during lunch with Obama at the White House. The vice president paid $56.25 cash for his order. Republicans quickly pointed out that Biden opposed filibuster changes back when Democrats were a minority in the Senate.
Senate Democrats bowled over Republicans on Thursday to win approval for a highly controversial rule change which would limit the GOP´s ability to block nominees. Majority Leader Harry Reid, moving quickly following days of speculation, used the so-called "nuclear option" to pass the change. Typically, major changes like this take 67 votes, but he did it with just a simple majority.(Snip) The late Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., said in 2010 that changing the rules would "destroy the uniqueness of this institution." "In the hands of a tyrannical majority and leadership, that kind of emasculation of the cloture rule would mean that minority
SARASOTA, Fla. — Sarasota police say the husband of former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris was found dead of an apparent suicide at the couple’s home. Police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said Tuesday that Harris’ husband, Anders Ebbeson, committed suicide. Officers were called to the home between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Tuesday. During a news conference at the police station, Pastor William Hild of Sarasota First Baptist Church confirmed that Ebbers had taken his own life. Ebbers was a Swedish businessman. Hild, the family’s pastor, says Ebbers suffered from health issues in recent years.
Golf’s governing bodies eliminated penalties for violations detectable only through video evidence such as one that cost Tiger Woods two strokes in a PGA Tour playoff event this year. The rule change, one of several announced today, follows cases where players had been penalized for an infraction only seen when reviewing high-definition replay, often after a television viewer alerted officials. The groups delayed a decision until 2016 regarding the appropriate penalty for instances when a player turns in an incorrect scorecard when unaware that a penalty had occurred. This allows television viewers and others to continue to call in potential penalties they

Indonesia has recalled its ambassador and is reviewing all cooperation with the Australian government, over revelations Australia attempted to listen in to president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono´s phone calls. Documents obtained by the ABC and Guardian Australia show that Australian intelligence attempted to listen in to Mr Yudhoyono´s telephone conversations on at least one occasion, and also targeted the phones of his wife, Ani Yudhoyono, and his inner circle. Spies also tracked activity on Mr Yudhoyono´s mobile phone for 15 days in August 2009, the material - leaked by the US National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden - reveals.
The scale of Sunday´s deadly storms became clearer this morning: Six people dead in Illinois, hundreds of homes flattened and splintered, 81 tornadoes sighted through the Midwest, 358 reports of damaging winds, 40 reports of large hail. Since 1986, there have been 194 tornado warnings issued in the month of November in Illinois: More than half of them, 101, were issued Sunday, according to the Chicago Weather Center. Hardest hit was Washington, a town of 15,000 people east of Peoria hit by an EF-4 tornado packing winds of 170 to 190 mph. Whole blocks were leveled, prompting the Illinois National Guard to
Jonathan Martin recently received the support of Stanford coach David Shaw, as every aspect of Martin´s career has been put under the microscope during the Miami Dolphins locker room controversy. All the amenities of modern medicine are available at a new West Los Angeles hospital. There´s 24-hour emergency care, a team of surgeons, psychology and physical therapy units, MRI and CT machines, one of the top oncologists in the country.(Snip)It is one of only a handful of U.S. animal hospitals that offer such sophisticated procedures as bone-marrow transplants for dogs — at a startling $16,000 — as well as radiation therapy, acupuncture treatment and hydrotherapy pools. A veteran undercover cop busted in a motorcycle mob attack has been indicted for gang assault and other serious felonies by a Manhattan grand jury, the Daily News has learned. NYPD Detective Wojciech Braszczok, who faces up to 25 years behind bars if convicted on the top counts, is one of 11 bikers formally charged in a 14-count indictment over the Sept. 29 attack on Range Rover driver Alexian Lien that went viral when footage of the beatdown taken from a helmet-mounted camera was posted online. I don’t have a dog in this fight. I want that to be very clear. I played offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins from 2009 until the 2012 preseason, when I was released after tearing ligaments in my foot and injuring my back, both requiring surgery. I have since retired, and I’m happily working in the auto industry and living outside of Miami. I went to college at Nebraska with Richie Incognito, and I consider myself friends with him and Jonathan Martin, but I don’t speak with them regularly and I’m not taking sides. I’m only interested in the truth, which is what I’m going to share,
A $1-billion plan to put an iPad into the hands of every Los Angeles student and teacher could prove difficult to financially sustain after about three years, based on figures provided by the L.A. Unified School District. The district´s description of funding options emerged during a Board of Education meeting Tuesday at district headquarters. Los Angeles schools Supt. John Deasy has called the technology upgrade an essential academic initiative. He has also noted that new state tests are supposed to be taken on a computer.
Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the “beginning of a great crime.” Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox. “You don’t celebrate the holiday I thought?” a fan asked Cher. “I DON’T,” Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. “Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.” When asked
President Obama's weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. On behalf of all the Obamas — Michelle, Malia, Sasha, Bo, and the newest member of our family, Sunny — I want to wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. We’ll be spending today just like many of you — sitting down with family and friends to eat some good food, tell stories, watch a little football and. most importantly, count our blessings. And as Americans, we have so much to be thankful for.
LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Sheriff´s Office has arrested a juvenile in connection with two random attacks reported in Lee County. Economics: It seems the official position of Pope Francis is that the free market is a wicked enemy that must be restrained. With all due respect, he´s mistaken. The free market has been a heavenly blessing. Two days before our American Thanksgiving, the Argentinian pontiff, in his first apostolic exhortation, called the free market a "new tyranny." "Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world," he wrote in the Vatican report. Claims of free-market success, he said, have "never been confirmed
President Obama is concerned these days with the "young invincibles," the 20-somethings he needs now to buy into his program, but who probably won´t because they feel (you guessed it) invincible and think they will stay so for quite a long time. But it takes one to know one, as the irony is Obama himself is, or once was, an ultra-invincible, unstoppable and doing what people said couldn´t be done. Could he become world famous on the strength of one speech? Yes, he could. Could he beat Hillary Clinton, a president´s wife and a feminist icon? Yes, he could. Could he
One day after a new poll showed that only a minority of Americans trust President Barack Obama, the president told an audience that his policies are based on kindness. “Kindness covers all of my political beliefs,” Obama told his audience of wealthy investors, high-tech donors, journalists and fellow Democrats Tuesday, only two months after he slashed at GOP legislators, calling them arsonists, nuclear blackmailers, economic wreckers, hostage-takers, obsessives and irresponsible extremists. “When I think about what I’m fighting for, what gets me up every single day, [kindness] captures it just about as much as anything,” he told his audience at the DreamWorks
President Barack Obama told a Democratic fundraiser in Beverly Hills Tuesday that he has accomplished "as much, if not more" than any other president."Over the last five years, thanks to the leadership of Nancy (Pelosi) and Harry (Reid) and legislators who are here, we have accomplished as much, if not more, than any time in our history -- saving an economy from a Great Depression; revitalizing an auto industry that is producing better cars and has come roaring back like nobody believed; doubling our exports; drastically reducing our dependence on foreign oil; doubling fuel efficiency standards; doubling our production of
In the wake of the Obamacare fiasco, President Obama’s poll numbers are collapsing in two industrial Midwestern states — the quintessential swing state of Ohio and his home state of Illinois. In Illinois, the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found Obama’s approval rating falling to just 50–46 positive in a state he carried by 17 points just a year ago. His biggest drops in support came among women voters (only 50 percent positive) and Hispanics (only 51 percent positive). Without his overwhelming support among African-Americans (92 percent), his approval rating would easily be in the low 40s. The liberal website
Reports of bias incidents at Vassar College that involved hateful messages left on students’ doors were actually elaborate hoaxes — and the perpetrator is none other than the student member of the Bias Incident Response Team, The Daily Caller has learned. This fall semester at the liberal arts college in New York saw a curiously high number of bias incident reports. [snip] The task force had one student member: Genesis Hernandez, who is transgendered and was also a vice president of the Vassar Student Association (VSA), the student government.
Bias: After spending three years promoting ObamaCare lies, the media elite now scramble to get out of the way of a train wreck they helped cause. Their backpedaling would be funny if so many lives weren´t at risk. As the redistributive mechanics of ObamaCare rear their ugly head, the president´s propaganda puppets are suddenly sounding like conservative critics. Take the New York Times. In a fit of candor, it now agrees with what we´ve said all along — "redistribution of wealth lies at the heart of" the Affordable Care Act. The paper reported that "economic justice" was Obama´s real goal in taking over
The day before Thanksgiving 2013 shall hereby be known as “Richard Simmons Makes Hilarious Media Appearances Day.” The fitness guru dropped by the HuffPost Live studios to talk about his efforts in fighting childhood obesity. The conversation became critical of the Obama family when Simmons revealed that he was rejected in his attempt to join the First Lady in her “Let’s Move!” campaign. “I’m just not their set of sheets,” he told host Ricky Camilleri while wearing a set of anatomical muscle leggings and a “SWEAT” tank top. Simmons bristled at Camilleri’s suggestion that perhaps the White House doesn’t want to be
Responding to an angry constituent’s letter about the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama allegedly used a sexually charged derogatory term referring to members of the Tea Party movement. Thomas Ritter, a fifth-grade school teacher from Irving, Texas, has sent the president a note criticizing Obamacare--the controversial law offering health care to the uninsured, which has become the butt of jokes following a disastrous launch last month. ´This bill has caused such a divisive, derisive and toxic environment... The reality is that any citizen that disagrees with your administration is targeted and ridiculed,´ the Texas man wrote to the commander-in-chief.
