NFL Commissioner on Redskins:
´If One Person Is Offended,

Breitbart Sports, by Staff

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell softened his stance on the Redskins name on Wednesday when he said that the NFL had to listen to concerns about the team´s nickname even if only one person is concerned about it. In an interview on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, Goodell, who grew up in the region as a Baltimore Colts and then Redskins fan, said, "I think what we have to do though is we have to listen." “If one person is offended, we have to listen," he said. Goodell´s remarks come after Sports Illustrated´s Peter King´s website decided to refer to the team as

What if a different person wrote in and claimed to be offended by each of the names of every NFL team. Surely by the standard enunciated by the NFL Commissioner today, the league would be in a heck of a fix.

Sports teams were named after native Americans because native Americans were such formidable foes. It´s surprising that PETA hasn´t objected to lions, tigers, bears, wildcats, etc. being part of team names.

Yes.

And I´m a proud vertically challenged American.

Yes.

I´m offended by the name ´Giants´. Not all people from New York are gigantic you know.

Yes, I know that. I´ll get right on it.

Thank you, and by the way, I´m kind of slow too, so that whole Jets thing really depresses me every time I see it.

Yes sir, I´ll get right on it.

My Grandfather was an electrician in a plant that made warplanes, back in the 50´s and 60´s. I too, consider Jets to be a proud part of my heritage and I don´t want to see it used that way. It´s just disrespectful of my family and my people.

He also worked on transformers, so I consider "Chargers" to be off-limits.

Many of my proud ancestors were Vikings. Many of them STILL LIVE in Minnesota. A name change MUST happen. My Viking ancestors were friends with Dolphins. I won´t see that word cheapened with a sports team name.

My grandmother was Catholic. "Padres" is an affront to her memory. When will that long-standing insult be remedied?

As a white man, the term "Yankees" has been used in a pejorative way far, far too often around the world. I expect we will see real change soon.

I won´t go into detail as to why I find the "Packers" to be offensive except to say that I love every member of my family, regardless of their personal choices which I consider to be their own business.

I´m OK with the "Ducks."

Someone is going to be offended by all the names. So I suggest we name the teams with numbers. Wait. Arabic numbers? Roman numerals? Hmmm... numbers could be a problem. Arabs might be offended if we use Roman numerals and Romans might be...

OK how about two dimensional random geometric shapes? Wait. Three dimensional people may be offended as would fans of Mandelbrot sets.

OK, how about all teams wear grey jersey´s (no black or white issues with that), and no name or insignia so as not to take a chance of offending anyone. The players will have to learn each others face to determine what team they are on. Hmmm... but what if some of players choose to wear sunglasses or burka´s!?

It´s just so darn difficult to make all the highly sensitive people happy.

That statement will be noted in next year´s "This Day In Ignorance" commemorative calendar.

But -- that´s the stand required by today´s PC Left: not one may be offended. Well, actually, not one whom the Left approves may be offended. Conservatives? Christians? Free men and women? Phooey on them!

BTW -- did you see the team photo? I think "The Washington Crackas" is out.

#3: Indeed. Goodell also ignored the problem of "location-ism" in team names. I find the fact that, for example, the Bears use "Chicago," and the Ravens use "Baltimore."

Why not call the team "The Pennsauken Bears"? The players aren´t bears, after all, so why should it be impossible to name a team for a town that doesn´t have a team, and never will? Well, Roger?

#5: By "Redskins," they mean American Indians, or Aboriginal Americans. Anyone who is a citizen from birth is in fact a native American, no matter their ancestral heritage.

#6: A good recap of the problem. Nice job.

#17: Sorry, but the wretched AFLAC commercials have set me against "Ducks" forever.

#21: Not so fast! What about the blin-- I mean, "the visually impaired" [which always makes me think, not of sight problems, but, uhhh, "unsightly," shall we say?]? Why are there no Braille numbers anywhere on any pro uniforms? Well? Well?

Vice President Joe Biden really did get ahead of President Barack Obama on accepting gay marriage in 2012 — and the White House really wasn’t happy about it, despite the two leaders’ many attempts to claim otherwise. That’s the story laid out in Jo Becker’s new book, “Forcing the Spring,” which documents the past few years of successful efforts to expand the legalization of gay marriage, according to an advance copy obtained by POLITICO. Speculation that Biden’s comments on “Meet the Press” in May 2012 were meant as a trial balloon, Becker writes, came from people “not privy to the

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast
