Michelle Obama to splash
media with new issue:
Drink more water

Washington Post, by Krissah Thompson

Original Article

Posted By:NYC RAL, 9/12/2013 7:19:01 AM

After 4 1 / 2 years of reminding Americans to eat their vegetables, Michelle Obama is turning her attention to what’s in their glasses. On Thursday, she and her staff will begin to ask Americans to drink more water. “Let’s Move,” meet “Drink Up.” In an all-out effort, Obama will fly to Watertown, Wisc. (Get it?) Actress Eva Longoria is expected to accompany the first lady. While there, Obama plans to ask cities all over to make their town a Water-town. She has produced personalized messages asking viewers of the most popular morning and daytime television shows to drink more

Comments:
Our lives will be changed. The future of our nation, the world, the universe will be transformed. MO´s H2O is not 2 smart. She is just an earthy woman. Should have taken the leading roll on "Green Acres."

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin´ is the life for me.
Land spreadin´ out so far and wide
Keep Chicago, just give me that countryside.

Would Arnold Ziffel be allowed in the White House?

Just last week my wife spent three days in the hospital after being admitted from emergency because her electrolytes dropped precipitously because "she was drinking too much water." The doctor´s prescription was "drink all you want other than water." True story.

Did Moo get AlGore´s approval for this? I thought the earth was running out of water and that´s why we have to take spit showers and flush our toilets with a cup of water.

On a serious note, it is dangerous to drink too much water. Women seem to be at more risk than men. You can actually kill yourself so pay no attention to the angry woman behind the counter and do what´s right for you.

Second thought... When consumed, there will be less water publicly available. Mo´s husband will be in less hot water and will owe it all to his forward-leaning visionary wife. I´m sure all of the water companies listed as supports on the water website will be / are top contributors to the Obama coffers. A spoon full of sugar might make the medicine go down, but “Drink Up.”

Drink half your weight in ounces of water each day. That is all. (If you weigh 300 lbs. you probably don´t need to drink more than 100 oz. though.)

One of my friends confided she was doing the 8 glasses of water a day thing but trips to the bathroom were excessive. I asked her how big her glasses were and pointed out it´s 8 - 8 oz glasses of water. We had a good laugh after figuring out she was drinking about 3 times the recommended dosage.

Rule of Thumb - 1/2 of your body weight in fluid ounces of water daily, i.e. a 200 lb person should drink 100 fl oz every day. Doing this simple thing instead of drinking sodas of any type, fruit juices, even sport drinks, would go a long way towards improving everyone´s health. Get the sugar and sugar substitutes out of your fluids. All you need to drink is water, nothing else, but I´ve got to have black coffee and some wine, too.

She´s actually right on this one.

Two of Watertown´s largest employers are soda manufacturing facilities. Is this just another attack on American businesses and the hardworking people they employ.
Aunt Esther´s message of increased consumption of water is correct, however, the underlying theme is consistent. Coal, natural gas, dairy, and now soda...all bad.

I understand that the public is not invited to this event. I´d love to see her....s/off.

This obsession with water is due in part to a misinterpretation of a study done for the marines decades ago. While it concluded that an individual needs about 64 oz. of fluid per day, unless excessively exercising, that included the liquid found in virtually everything you eat. Even bread has a certain amount of fluid value. The bottom line is drink what you want and if you´re thirsty drink a little more.
Seeing people, including kids in schools, carrying water bottles everywhere is nuts. There I said it.
Where did the "half your body weight" idea com from?

Guess what the citizens of Watertown are going to do? They figure their children will be wasting an entire day with all the ceremony of Mouchelle being there and they are going to keep their kids at home!

She´ll be spending a million dollars flying to Watertown, Wisconsin to address the students in a Watertown school where the majority of the children will be absent!

There are more ways to skin a cat than one.

ask Americans to drink more water. “Let’s Move,”

Most of that moving will be towards the restrooms!

I´m wondering how this drink more water campaign is going to work with the "get rid of plastic water bottle" campaigns around the country.

@#17: The fact that she is right on this issue is irrelevant. Humans instinctively know to drink water. We don`t need govn telling us. All the other garbage we drink has water in it so it`s a matter of what we wish to filter through our bodies. I believe the real motive here is as always with leftist`s. It`s more govn control and higher tax bills for all as we push bottled water in the public schools. The added benefit for the Obama`s is probably a big fat payday for them from the water companies after they leave the WH.

“Let us give each other a spiritual hug.” The leader of the Catholic Church recorded a special message about Christian unity. This unusual and unofficial video of Pope Francis discussing Christian unity (and speaking English) was recorded on an iPhone for the Kenneth Copeland Ministries, a group of Pentecostals meeting in the United States. In the video, which was posted on YouTube and not officially released by the Vatican, Pope Francis discusses the historical divisions between Christians and expresses hope that all men and women of faith would be able to move forward.

NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio´s official vehicles were spotted breaking several traffic laws on Thursday, just two days after he laid out a sweeping traffic safety plan that included harsh restrictions on reckless drivers. De Blasio was in the front passenger seat of the lead SUV of a two-vehicle caravan that was captured on video speeding, running through a pair of stop signs and not signaling when changing lanes. The footage, which aired on WCBS-TV, was taken as de Blasio returned to City Hall after a news conference in Queens. The mayor´s press office deferred

FT LAUDERDALE - A Davie woman plans to sue the Broward Sheriff’s Office after she was forced to spend the night in jail for using her cellphone to record a deputy during a traffic stop. Last March, 33-year old Brandy Berning was pulled over by Lt. William O’Brien after she reportedly drove in the HOV lane at the wrong time, according to The Sun-Sentinel. As O’Brien approached her vehicle, Berning hit the record button on her phone. She recorded about 15 seconds of the conversation before telling O’Brien that he was being recorded. That’s when the deputy told her she

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
