Obama’s Syria speech: An illogical argument
from a paralyzed president

Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin

Original Article

After a week or so of political whiplash, the country heard directly from President Obama as he tried to explain his policy. The speech was exceptionally revealing in the logical disconnect that plagues his policy: Chemical weapons use is beyond the pale and different than any weapon. We cannot let it go on. We have a national interest in acting. But I would ask Congress to hold off on voting for me to do anything. We’ll consider a deal to have Assad turn over his weapons. But remain in power. Several other disturbing inconsistencies were noteworthy. First, he talked about

An empty suit blowing in the wind.

Man asking Congress to hold off voting for him to do anything is risky. I don´t think that´s going to be a problem. This leaves to door open to blame Congress for not acting quickly when things go from bad to really bad.

I didn´t bother watching the speech because I knew it would be a replay of his same blathering over the past week.

But what an absurd position to be in to begin with.He wanted to sound tough because the storyline is the threat of bombs forced a diplomatic solution.

At the same time he folded like a cheap suit, handing Putin a world victory.Assad stays in power and with Russian weapons keeps on pounding the misfit rebels.

The rebels are attacking Christian areas of the country but no alarm bells over that.It simply proves the Obama backed rebels are Islamic radicals.

What´s really needed and needs to happen is air strikes against the rebels but that would flush Obama´s whole arab spring scheme out.

Putin keeps his title of the "Russian strong man" while Obama is the world weakling.Doesn´t matter,by the end of the week, the media will put this on the same level as the Cuban missile crisis.

Two things to consider - 1- Now that Chemical Weapons are routinely acknowledged by Obama and everyone else on the Left to be WMD , and were used by Saddam Hussein against Syria and his own people, how does the Bush-Bashing argument hold up? - 2 - former Sec. of Defense Leon Panetta acknowledged not too long ago that The U.S. lost track of the whereabouts of Syria´s Chemical Weapons stockpile and could not rule out the possibility that Terrorists had access to them

After five years of pure bull, why should anyone believe anything this person says. Shades of Third Reich propagandist Joseph Goebbels. Everything Obama says or does is political and unbelievable.

Obama hasn´t proven yet that Syria is responsible for gassing anyone. Assad is guilty of fighting rebels within Syria´s own borders who are executing people. The same type of terrorists who killed our people in Benghazi and who slaughtered people in Egypt.

Congress, do your duty and vote no on Obamas unethical adventures and do it now. Don´t get waylaid by false excuses and stalling by more lies and deception. He doesn´t have the authority to declare war like Dictators of old. There is a reason why Congress is held in such low esteem by the American public. This is another one of those reasons.

If he bombs anyone in the future without Congressional approval... Impeach him.

The only reason to delay the vote is that he knows it will not pass. If it would pass, this will not force Obama to bomb Syria; it would only provide him the authority to do so.

I would like to see Obama´s proof that Assad carried out the attack. The only proof that he gave was that there was an attack and Assad has chemical weapons. Well, the rebels also have them and we do too.

The article concludes with the thought that the US has vital interest in the middle east implying something must be done. This is all true but don´t authorize Barky to use force or do anything. He will botch it and make the situation worse. With Obama as president the best thing we can do is nothing. The idea of humanitarian goals in war is nice but where do you start? So many wars to fight and so few willing to set things right all around the world. Why didn´t Obama intervene to help the rebels in Iran - the source of problems in the middle east. He never lifted a finger to help them because they were not muslim brotherhood or Al Queda. They were actually pro american and their overthrow of the mullas would have changed the whole picture in the middle east. Iran is a real threat. Don´t talk about humanitarin goals after ignoring the downtrodden people of Iran!

Excellent point #14.

We now have a president who is a laughing stock. Putin has bested him on the world stage. The United States is riding the bench now which is just fine by Obama because he didn´t want to play that game anyway. His focus has been domestic. He is much more comfortable pushing his progressive agenda here. He knows that will do more lasting harm to this country than mucking about in foreign affairs. The man is driven. He is on a mission and will not be deterred. Total transformation is his goal.

I truly believe this whole thing was a manufactured crisis. I believe the administration was planning on working with Russia all along, making this a sort of anti-Bush "this is how diplomacy is done" act.. John Kerry knew of these plans but accidentally blabbed them which sent everyone in a panic trying to normalize their message again which lead to this crazy, nonsensical, conflicting message coming from the white house & the government. Obama was playing a game with our nation and he really lost control of this one.

What troubles me the most would be that of you totaled the carnage on the streets of Chicago during his Presidency it would eclipse the Syria problem, and it´s his "home" town. Where is the outrage for those children who continue to die on a daily basis and worse yet are breeding for future failure through their "baby daddy" system, which is rewarded by the federal government to shore up his base.

It was the rebels...Proof

Freed Hostages Reveal Information on Chemical Attacks in Syria
Hostages share potentially new details about Syria´s attacks
September 10, 2013

Belgian national Pierre Piccinin, left, and Italian journalist Domenico Quirico, right center, were kidnapped in Syria in April and claim to have overheard new details on Syrian chemical attacks.
Domenico Quirico, an Italian journalist, and Pierre Piccinin, a Belgian teacher, disclosed a grim account of their captivity in Syria as well as potentially new information about the chemical weapon attacks, upon their return to Rome

As a seasoned war correspondent, Quirico traveled to Syria by means of Lebanon on April 6 to cover the revolution. Three days later, Quirico and Piccinin were kidnapped as they traveled to the Syrian city of Homs together.

Held hostage for six months, Quirico and Piccinin claim to have overheard their captors through closed doors, discussing the chemical weapon attacks near Damascus. Piccinin reports that the rebels said that Assad was not responsible for the attacks.

"It wasn´t the government of Bashar al-Assad that used sarin gas or any other gas in Ghouta," Piccinin revealed on Belgian RTL radio.

"We are sure about this because we overheard a conversation between rebels. It pains me to say it because I´ve been a fierce supporter of the Free Syrian Army in its rightful fight for democracy since 2012," Piccinin said.

OK - - so here´s the gist of the deal Zippy has agreed to - - - -

1. Brutal, murderous dictators are allowed two chemical weapons attacks against their political opponents.

2. Those two non-punishable attacks may kill several thousand civilians - - but no more.

3. Authority for controlling the balance of the chemical weapons is ceded to another brutal dictator.

4. The audit and control of the chemical weapons has no guidelines and no time limits - - and no credible military force will be used to enforce the non-existing guidelines and timetables.

5. The original murderous dictator is then free to use as many conventional weapons as he chooses to - - most of which are supplied by the chemical weapons-supervising dictator - - against his political opponents with impunity.

6. Rinse - - and repeat Steps 1-5.

Is that about it? Is that the diplomatic triumph that the leftists are celebrating?

FTA: "The speech was exceptionally revealing in the logical disconnect that plagues his policy..." This is the core of the problem with most liberals: they cannot think logically, and because of this, they are blinded to the inconsistencies in their positions on a host of issues. Throw in a lack of common sense, and you have the proverbial "brick wall" situation when trying to carry on a civil discourse with these people on just about any issue/topic. My question is: how did this country ever spawn as many of these types of people as we seem to have among us? Sorry, that is a rhetorical question: the answers, of course, are the education establishment and a lame press that is more interested in its own agenda than it is in being the accountability organization it should be.

Oh well, at least the state of Colorado struck a blow for freedom last night!!!

HE wants us to get in bed with the people who attacked us on 9-11 !
To me, this is treason. This is aiding and abetting the enemy.
The democrat party supports him therefore, may they all pay the price at the polls next year, along with the Republican elites who would also betray the American People.

I don´t think he gives a damn about the chemical weapons. It`s just an excuse to continue what he´s been doing. To understand what´s happening you have to know the Sunnis and the Shi`ites are at war. Both sides try to maneuver western powers into fighting their wars for them. Obama appears to have been recruited to the Sunni (Muslim Brotherhood side), Putin to the Shi´ite (Iran/Syria) side. The US effort from the Arab Spring to Benghazi to Syria has been an effort to put the Muslim Brotherhood into power geographically from from Libya to Turkey. Syria is the last building block needed to complete the process (though Egypt has to be somehow taken back from the military). Now though, it looks like Putin (patron of the Shi`ites) might have stopped him at the last moment. Obama needs somehow to get Assad out of power to complete the project so he´s keeping the military ready to strike. It´s a very dangerous plan. Iran has or is about to get nukes and will justifiably feel surrounded. If Assad falls the Sunni/Shi`ite war could blossom into WWIII.

Read the comments in the original article from the fools who support the FOTUS, and you will see how absolutely screwed we are. Obozo seems determined to serve us up World War 1 again, to be followed by a right wing backlash that will be equivalent to Germany in the early 30´s. the Socialist Weimar was so corrupt it paved the way for someone who could at least make the trains run on time. If only the middle could screw up their courage and stand up to Obozo instead of being afraid of being called a racist. McCain, Cantor, Boehner and Gramnesty have to be kicked out, just as much as Obozo.

The conditions were not favorable to him. He´ll return to the fight when terms look more favorable to him. Valerie´s fingerprints are all over this because it is all so crazy/illogical.

BTW: On the anniversary of 09/11/01 I´d like to ask why New Yorkers(or any other state´s citizens) how in the world they could vote for a president who supports Al Qaeda? Really?

As I listened last night , I assumed from Obama´s extremely hawkish and
bellicose beginning that he
was about to announce that the bombing had already begun.
He went from channeling Nikita Khrushchev pounding his shoe and declaring " We will bury Syria !!! "
to Mr Rogers singing Kumbaya
in the space of 15 minutes.
Bizarre and unbelievable , an unfunny SNL parody.
Has anyone ever seen Barry drive a vehicle ?
I imagine he floors it for awhile, then slams
on the brakes and then guns
it in reverse and then drives around in circles and eventually he puts in it park
and abandons the car , with the doors left open and the engine idling.
And then denies driving the car and blames someone else.

The Boy WONder just needs to sit back and watch history happen. It is not within his abilities to make anything better but he certainly can find ways to screw it all up.

Why are chemical weapons so much worse than conventional weapons? It must be a psychological thing. Personally, I would rather be fed poison gas than have my head sawed slowly off with a dull knife. Both are MUSLIM specialties and that is the point we should remember, especially today. Letting them kill each other is by far the best course of action.

Tell everyone that the Russians came to the table because of a threat of the use of US military force. Then, prior to negotiating with the Russians, take the military option off of the table by postponing the use of force vote in Congress.

This insults our intelligence. He didn´t and doesn´t have the votes. The Russians know this and so it will be they who threaten the use of military force.

This can´t go on much longer.

I did watch the speech and this is what was heard:

This is terrible.
Men, women, and children have been gassed and have died horrible deaths.
Children have died.
The government of Syria is certainly guilty but I won’t bother you with the proof.
Children have died.
I’ve been trying to fix things since the previous administration got us into two wars.
I can’t ignore what happened; I must act; it is who we are.
Children have died.
I am the President. I am the Commander in Chief.
I have to do something; the world is watching but I will not put boots on the ground. I will do something more than a pinprick. We cannot allow these actions to stand.
Children have died.
I believe in America and so I have asked Congress to consider my proposal to act.
So for now, never mind.
God bless America.”

Mickey Rooney, the pint-sized actor who was one of MGM’s giant box office attractions in the late ’30s and early ’40s, died on Sunday. He was 93. As adept at comedy as drama and an excellent singer and dancer, Rooney was regarded as the consummate entertainer. During a prolific career on stage and screen that spanned eight decades (“I’ve been working all my life, but it seems longer,” he once said), he was nominated for four Academy Awards and received two special Oscars, the Juvenile Award in 1939 (shared with Deanna Durbin) and one in 1983 for his body of work.

But so many are also mind-numbingly strange. In Florida, we do weird the way Kansas does wheat. Here, giant pet snakes escape. And breed. And then invade our national parks. San Jose, Calif. — A usually busy DMV office in San Jose was closed Friday after a motorist waiting to take a driver´s test crashed her car into the building and caused a gas leak. The driver declined to give her name but told KTVU she was nervous about taking the driver´s license tests because this would have been her third try. Around noon the line started to move but she said she hit the accelerator instead of the brake and rammed a motorcycle rider in front of her. Then, she said she swerved to try to avoid running over the rider and

President Obama says the thousands of Irish immigrants in the US are being denied opportunities because of the US strict immigration laws. The President was speaking the traditional Shamrock ceremony at the White House as part of the St Patrick´s Day celebrations. The issue of immigration reform was a priority for the Irish Government delegation, led by Enda Kenny. The delegation has been lobbying in Washington during the St Patrick´s Day trip for reforms to benefit the 50,000 undocumented Irish there. President Obama said too many undocumented Irish were denied the chance to contribute to society as they were not able to pay taxes

These are the 634 runways where the missing Malaysia Airlines plane could have landed after a potential hijacking. Today Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said investigators believe flight MH370´s disappearance is the result of ´deliberate action´ by someone on the plane. During a dramatic press conference, he said satellite evidence showed the aircraft´s transponder was turned off and it change direction shortly before it vanished. (Snip) Mr Razak said it is believed to have been heading in a westerly and then north westerly direction. The revelation gives hope to the families of the 227 passengers and 12 crew that the Boeing 777 may

President Barack Obama held a Spanish language town hall at the Newseum last week in which he was interviewed by reporters from some of the largest Spanish media outlets in the world. During the interview, he was asked a question from a man who wanted to buy Obamacare for a family of three but couldn’t afford it. (Snip) Obama couldn’t settle on a single answer to the question, so he instead suggested that the man should just sign up for Medicaid, blamed Texas for affordable insurance not being available, and concluded by saying the man should cancel his telephone service

On Fox News last night, Bill O’Reilly struggled with a question he apparently finds confusing: why aren’t major news organizations covering the IRS “scandal” to his satisfaction. Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS’ tax exempt division, took the Fifth last week, but most of the media seemed indifferent. (Snip) That’s one possible explanation. But in the interest of giving O’Reilly and Goldberg something else to consider, there’s a more plausible, reality-based reason the media has lost interest in this scandal: there is no scandal. As we’ve discussed on more than a few occasions, the story has already been

The past two days have revealed the dangerous ramifications of the narrow-minded foreign policy elite in Washington, and a media establishment that has for so much of President Obama’s tenure accepted the statements of the administration as gospel. (Snip) If this is the sort of foreign policy anticipation that the establishment delivers, it’s little surprise that no one trusts America’s self-styled policy elites any more. They are too used to judging the world according to the patterns toward which they are already biased, as opposed to seeing it as it is.

In little more than a year, one small boy has raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars to help his sick best friend by selling copies of a book he wrote himself. Now well on his way to the ambitious goal of $1 million, Dylan Siegal, a seven-year-old from Los Angeles, is selling his book ´Chocolate Bar´ to raise funds for Jonah Pournazarian, eight, his best friend who suffers from a rare condition called glycogen storage disease type 1B. Dylan became concerned about Jonah when he found out researchers were almost out of funding to conduct studies into the

President Obama has made liberal use of "executive action" throughout his presidency, and pledged to make even more use of executive action in this year´s State of the Union speech. He seems to think that because Republicans don´t want to implement his agenda, he can go around Congress. The Heritage Foundation is out with a new report on President Obama´s executive actions, titled "An Executive Unbound," finding that "abusive, unlawful, even potentially unconstitutional unilateral action has been a hallmark of the Obama Administration." They´ve also compiled a list of the top ten abusive executive actions taken by the President.

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
