Obama bets big on
attacking Syria

The Hill (Washington, D.C.), by Justin Sink

The fate of President Obama’s second term hangs on his Tuesday speech to the nation about Syria. If Congress votes against a military attack on President Bashar Assad’s regime, Obama’s credibility may be shot, perhaps for the rest of his tenure. At a minimum, it would cement the idea that he is weak in Washington, let alone worldwide. Ever since his surprising announcement on Aug. 31 that he would seek Capitol Hill’s approval for a strike on Syria, votes have piled up against the idea, especially in the House. The president might yet turn the tide. But, if he does not do so,

Pure manufactured drama to make republicans look like goats if they don´t approve this. If they do their base will be mad.

I have never listened to any Obama speech and I won´t be listening to this one. The sight of him turns my stomach. No one who is against this attack will be eagerly listening to his latest claptrap hoping for a reason to change their minds.

Barry fancies himself as some kind of Pied Piper/dog whisperer. All he has to do is get up with his teleprompter and get that cadence of his going, and everyone will be mesmerized.

But the problem is that all but the most devoted 30% have seen "the man behind the curtain". His loyal 30% would gleefully follow their man behind the curtain into the annihilation of this country, because they knew who he was all along and they hate America as much as Barry!

I believe Obama´s speechifying has worn everyone thin like the race card has.
In the end the blame will fall on the dumb Republicans for not letting Daddy Warbucks have his way. Putin and Assad get a good laugh at Daddy Warbucks and the Iranians continue on the quest for building a nuke with Israel´s name on it.

The Children Card! Will Obama play it again as he did recently? You know, the card that stirs up emotions about innocent children being barbarically slaughtered by means of poison gas? I’m thinking yes, he will. On the other hand, will he mention, much less play, The Pro-Choice Card? You know, the card that stirs up emotions about innocent children being barbarically slaughtered by means of abortion? No way! Wouldn’t be prudent. Wouldn’t be politically astute or useful for his purposes humanity-wise.

Trust Obama? Never! But Verify? Not even necessary!

The best outcome for us as a nation will be for Obama to turn toxic. All politicians who are up for election will need to steer as clear of him as possible lest they be "primaried". Hopefully, as of Wednesday, Obama will officially become a lame duck. I would love to see him spend the rest of his term puttering in Michelle´s garden hoeing the weeds à la the Godfather.

I agree with #1. A big part of this whole fiasco is to divide the Republican Party. The only miscalculation that the administration may have made is that Republicans can think and reason on their own and Boehner, McCain and Graham don´t have the clout Obama believes they have.

As much as Republicans are fed up with Obama they are totally fed up with RINOs who condescendingly lord it over other Republicans. We are not stupid. We are, however, fed up with pampered princes who send our men and women to war only to limit their ability to achieve victory. That is unconscionable. We are sacrificing our best for nothing. Time to put a stop to it.

Wait a minute, I thought Chief Long Face was going to attack Syria in a swift boat. I saw a map the other day of where all those Iraq gas cylinders were located, and let me tell you, there are scads and scads of them. Cripes it would take our complete missile and drone inventory to get them all.

If you do that, you spread the gas, so that isn´t going to happen. Then there are boots on the ground. That isn´t going to happen, because there are probably Russian boots on the ground already.

Then there is the problem of incoming stuff if you are bombing them with our stuff. Somewhere along the line, someone is going to fire the big one in our direction.

I think Kerry and the gang better go back to what they do best, avoiding boat taxes, while stealing our money. Give Jon some band aids... he´s going to need them. Hiding under a desk can give you splinters.

then there can be no impeachment. He has to be President to be impeached. He cannot ever

the act of treason, a crime punishable by death. Is there a more foul example of a crazed criminal in America than this One?

We are being set up big time. Before this stinking mess is over, you can bet that Obama will be perceived as single-handedly averting WW3. This is 100% pure Obamadrama: whipping up hysteria about the desperately urgent need for action. HE does this over and over again and we fall for it every time.
The timing is just too perfect---considering the upcoming election. Believe that after his media blitzes, Congressional approval will leap to 90% , the brain dead public will suddenly be in favor of all-out war if necessary, and the rest of the world will see Obama as their Savior for maintaining his cool during a major crisis.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

Here is a selection of highlights from Friday’s release of documents from the Clinton presidency. The cache is part of a total of about 33,000 pages of presidential records that had been held back from various public records releases because of legal reasons exempting them from disclosure. A Clinton administration memo (page 674) shows a White House that was acutely aware of the first lady’s image problems as officials contemplated how to soften perceptions of Hillary Clinton and how to “build, energize and expand” her natural base. The latest cache of previously withheld Clinton documents includes an

The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. In reality, this is a woman who is professionally defined almost entirely by two men in her life, both of whom happen to have

Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
