Barack Obama’s delusions of grandeur:
compares Syria intervention to
fighting World War Two

Telegraph [UK], by Nile Gardiner

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 9/8/2013 12:33:28 AM

A key part of President Obama’s press conference in St. Petersburg last Friday went largely under the radar in the US media--his bizarre analogy between the crisis in Syria, and the London Blitz. [Snip] Those kinds of interventions, these kinds of actions are always unpopular, because they seem distant and removed. And I want to make sure I’m being clear. I’m not--I’m not drawing an analogy to World War II, other than to say when London was getting bombed, it was profoundly unpopular, both in Congress and around the country, to help the British.

Comments:
He´ll be comparing himself to Churchill next.

Egads!

He´s got to be kidding. This is nothing like WWII and the alphagoof knows it. He is really grasping at the teensiest of straws here.
Problem is, there are people who would probably fall for it.
He has been so unmanned by his own behavior on the world stage, it is getting pathetic.

Obama is having an FDR moment where a failed presidency was transformed by WWII. FDR´s socialist policies did nothing but deepen and prolong the depression and his successful legacy gave the progressive movement a foothold in every facet of our government. The entire industrialized world was decimated by the war and the US was the only country left standing. This bozo in the White House is going for the full monte. The Time magazine front cover of Obama with FDR´s hat and cigarette holder was too prophetic.

Alright already.

stinky is now clearly out of control.

Not that he ever did, but he now obviously and demonstrably knows nothing about which he speaks, and this is putting all of us on planet earth in a truly dangerous situation.

He probably digs it, the rotten little creep.

The once-free world will need heavy horses to re-plow the once free ground trampled and ruined by the likes of stinky.

I´m old; I´ll be long gone before my Country recovers from this nightmare, but I´m hopeful.
Sort of.

I haven´t seen or heard much from punch drunk Biden on all this. He´s usually Obama´s number one sap when it comes to him pushing the latest Obama blather. It was disturbing to see Robert Gates come out in favor of this.Maybe they have a file on him too.I´d like to hear Colin Powell´s take on it.Of course Powell will never live down the shame of the UN presentation.

When I heard Obama say this the other day,it sounded more like a jab at FDR for his foot dragging in WWII.I think FDR was afraid of the big media at the time was very anti-war.Forget bombing England,FDR was well aware of the internment camps way before the Japanese struck Pearl Harbour and that wasn´t enough.

Just like an episode of the Outer Limits,Obama will seize control of your TV remote so you´ll be forced to watch his pitch on this Tues, night. Couldn´t do it Monday because it would upset the NFL.

He has been getting away with revising history and knocking over straw men now for five years, as most of his constituency does not have a clue, along with the fact that the liberal US media gives him a pass every time.

If the War on Syria is World War II, then pro-Assad operatives who enter the US dressed as civilians to blow stuff up and their supporters are not terrorists but resistance fighters. These are harder to deal with than uniformed fighters or drones. The resistance fighters have on their side the propaganda view of blown up civilians and weeping relatives.

Barry did not learn American history as a child. He learned Islamic history. Which is precisely why he is so interested in multiple civil wars in the middle east and Africa. He believes he is in power "for such a time as this".
Only an idiot would compare entering World War II to save an ally, with starting World War III to save an enemy.

While all this is taking attention, the Obama Administration has stealthily used "stimulus" money on the nation´s governors.. to put in place Common Core, a federal take-over to indoctrinate America´s children. Obamacare, with its already-appointed death panel will get rid of the elderly who know history, while Obamacore will brainwash the youth. Remember Hitler´s Youth Program that had students turning their parents in for criticizing government? This is the long-range threat -- call your legislators to get Common Core thrown out!

Obama never studied nor ever learned the most important lesson of WWII...there are real enemies trying to kill us and if you go to war, you don´t do it to send a message or save your credibility, you do it to kill them and keep killing them until they are all dead or the ones who are left don´t have the capacity or the will to continue. It´s called "winning."

While our President has been playing spades and golf all summer, Putin has been moving political and military pieces into place and is ready to run the board on Syria to what will certainly be a checkmate of President Obama.

The king piece sought by Putin is a bilateral Congressional rejection of Obama and subsequent stand down from Syrian intervention. This would be more than an extreme embarrassment for President Obama but would also collapse political support for him both domestically and overseas. Russia and its allied states Iran, Syria and soon possibly Egypt (a long-time Soviet ally in days past) would gain a vastly greater free hand to pursue their regional interests with little threat of a neutered Obama administration.

Like any good chess player, Putin is thinking four turns ahead of Obama who seems to not even know what game he is playing. The moves that Putin has made have every appearance of a man who has a very good read on his opponent, his weaknesses and technical ability, and he moves with utter confidence.

Suppose South Africa, backed by Russia accused the U.S. of genocide by encouraging and financing abortion, mostly among the poor and minorities? Using women´s health as an alibi. They could furnish countless pictures and political speeches to prove these atrocities, since the decadent U.S. is proud of this policy. Then we deserve a "surgical" strike of abortion mills. Of course there would be unfortunate "collateral damage" of teen age victims who happened to be in the "clinics" at the time. Maybe that´s why the majority of people interviewed want us to butt out of the Mideast Obama and the libs have no excuse for righteous indignation.

I´m wondering when Time will feature BO as George W. Bush?

#16, i wish i could have clicked the "Like" line on your comment ad infinitum...

#16, At first i thought you had written that FLOTUS ought to be ON the Front Lines.

As for FDR´s vacillation, his LeftWing was pretty much in the bag for the Soviets, at least from 1939 when Germany and the USSR signed the "NAZI-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact". Regular messages from Stalin were relayed by his agents nestled in the USA.

So, when Hitler turned on and invaded the USSR, the American Bolsheviks didn´t know what to do, because they had been agitating on the anti-war front. Thereafter, they got the orders to make an about-face, and were "all in" for crushing Hitler, et al.

The moral of the story (or one of them) is that the Left, and BO as its head, has no moral core. The End is all that matters. This is why Lefties get so confused and self-contradictory.

Meanwhile, Wednesday is one year after Benghazi 9/11... BO has made NO response to this atrocity, this act of war, except to lie. ...and EVERYONE in that part of the world remembers... and some of us here remember AND care.

yeah, he has delusions of grandeur, alright

#1 Pathetic little man and reference to Churchill . Obama was so quick to get rid of Churchills Bust which was given to the US people.I will be brief, there is so many reasons we should not bomb Syria. On Fox News every weekend they have Susan Estrich an ex MA political hack presently teaching left wing mush to the next generation in CA. She said we have to support Obama to maintain his credibility. The host just looked at her said nothing like a dried prune. Heavens forbid this occupant of the WH lost his credibilty evening of 9/11 , it´s going on a year and the american people still do not know what this fly boy was doing when 4 American citizens were being murdered. Also all the people who survived the Benghazi consulate raid are still gagged. Syrian rebels have occupied Christian villages and paraded nuns through the steets time out . Obama is siding with this unscrupalous bunch of terrorists.Time out .Use of gas in wartime should be banned and the law enforced by a National World Body to enforce the penalty.( Forget the UN.

Remember that obnoxious little kid in your neighborhood, way back when, who loved starting fights, or calling others names on the playground but who was incapable - himself - of fighting his way out of a paper bag?

But, remember too - he almost always had an older, bigger, tougher brother or friend who was a bully himself and was always somewhere close (or could be the next day or so), to protect his little brother and avenge whatever harm came to him, or was threatened- as a result of his misdeeds?. No matter what he did...his big bubba would take care of it, so everyone was rather intimidated and were careful not to make this obnoxious twit too mad, for fear of the dire consequences?

Summary: His ´blackness´ is Obama´s protective big bubba. So far, it´s served him well during his disastrous presidency.

At least 1,000 hospital patients are dying needlessly each month from dehydration and poor care by doctors and nurses, according to an NHS study. The deaths from acute kidney injury could be prevented by simple steps such as nurses ensuring patients have enough to drink and doctors reviewing their medication, the researchers say. Between 15,000 and 40,000 patients die annually because hospital staff fail to diagnose the treatable kidney problem, a figure that dwarfs the death toll from superbugs like MRSA. The term "Dark Net" is shorthand to describe the hidden and encrypted part of the internet beyond the reach of normal browsers, accessible only using the anonymous browser Tor. It´s protected by a clever traffic encryption system which makes it very difficult to locate the servers which host sites--called Tor Hidden Services--and the IP addresses of the people the visit them. The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius maneuvered one of America´s richest liberal philanthropies into contributing $13 million to Enroll America, a group founded by a former Obama White House staffer to drive up insurance enrollment numbers under the Affordable Care Act. A report issued Monday by the Government Accountability Office shows what Republican members of Congress have anticipated learning since 2013: that Sebelius called a total of five organizations a year ago and urged them to help Enroll America reach its goals. A pregnant journalist is recovering in hospital today after a pro-Kremlin political leader in Russia told two male aides to ´violently rape´ her at a press conference. Nationalist Vladimir Zhironovsky launched his extraordinary tirade after reporter Stella Dubovitskaya asked him an innocuous question about sanctions against Ukraine. The founder of the far right Liberal Democratic Party began shouting wildly, before suddenly manhandling two young male aides towards the pregnant mother-of-one. He then shouted to them: ´When I say, you run to her and violently rape her.´ The parliamentary reporter, who is six months pregnant, is now being treated in hospital

A huge fire in Gibraltar, caused by a fuel tank explosion, shut down many online betting services and disrupted gamblers during a busy day of sport. Residences near the blaze were evactuated following the fire, which broke out at around 1pm local time. The explosion occurred at Gibraltar´s main power station and the fire shut down much of the area´s electricity. Thousands of residents and tourists were left without power while firefighters battled the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control at around 4.30pm local time. A Gibraltar Government spokesman said: "The fire is under control and there are no casualties

New accounts emerge of

Immortalised in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem about the “valley of death”, the Charge of the Light Brigade is remembered as one of the most glorious defeats in British history. The documents overturn much of the established wisdom of the battle and provide clues as to how the calamitous attack, during the Battle of Balaclava, in the Crimean War, came to be accidentally launched. [Snip] The charge saw the light cavalry mount an assault into a valley flanked, on three sides, by Russians. Lord Raglan, overall commander of the British forces, had intended to send the Light Brigade to pursue and

What stops the Earth from looking like Pluto is energy from the Sun. The quantity and type of energy coming from the Sun varies over cycles that range up to 1,500 years long. The cycle we can see with our own eyes, in our own lifetimes, is the sunspot cycle that is normally eleven years long. [Snip] It has become established—for those who are willing to look at the evidence—that climate will very closely follow our colder Sun. Climate is no longer a mystery to us. We can predict forward up to two solar cycles, that is about twenty-two years into the future. When models of solar activity are further refined, we may be able to predict climate

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

As he moves from lobbyists to the golf course, from press conferences to the tanning bed, he remains oblivious to all that is around him. He has power, incredible power, and yet to this day he has no understanding of the election that made it so. Moreover, all around him are astonishing opportunities for him to be an historic figure -- one who could and should be the man who did more than any other single person in turning back the red tide of Obama. It’s all there for Speaker of the House, and yet John Boehner manages to miss

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

Joan Eisenstodt didn´t have a stopwatch when she went to see an ear, nose and throat specialist recently, but she is certain the physician was not in the exam room with her for more than three or four minutes. "He looked up my nose, said it was inflamed, told me to see the nurse for a prescription and was gone," said the 66-year-old Washington, D.C., consultant, who was suffering from an acute sinus infection. It may not be tomorrow, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says "something will happen" to force a Nevada rancher to obey a court order to stop grazing his cattle on federal land and pay his grazing fees. "It´s obvious that you can´t just walk away from this," Reid said in an April 18 interview with a Nevada´s KSNV-TV News 3 program “What’s Your Point?” "You can´t have a law that is -- we´re a nation of laws, not of men and women," he said. Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. Last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that GOP positions on immigration were motivated by

There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. But not everyone has accepted it. Cliven Bundy’s armed standoff with the National Park

At a petite 5’3’’, Sage Santangelo may not look like a combat fighter at first glance. But the female second lieutenant has never let that hold her back from pursuing her dream of becoming an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. Growing up, Santangelo found she was always able to keep up with the guys and enjoyed playing hockey on all boys’ teams. But when she joined the Marines, Santangelo found the playing field changed; she was segregated into female-only training units and as a woman, was relegated to less strenuous physical training than her male counterparts. And that’s why,
