President Obama could
lose big on Syria in House

Politico, by John Bresnahan and Jake Sherman

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 9/5/2013 8:29:25 PM

If the House voted today on a resolution to attack Syria, President Barack Obama would lose — and lose big. That’s the private assessment of House Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides who are closely involved in the process. If the Senate passes a use-of-force resolution next week — which is no sure thing — the current dynamics suggest that the House would defeat it. That would represent a dramatic failure for Obama, and once again prove that his sway over Congress is extraordinarily limited. The loss would have serious reverberations throughout the next three months, when Obama faces off against Congress

Obama´s contempt for America chickens are coming home to roost. Get rid of him first, paralyze his domestic agenda, neutralize him, fix the rest of the problems later.

If I were in Congress, in either party, there is no way that I would provide Obama cover for what he wanted to do against the wishes of my constituents. Unless of course he has the embarrassing negatives.

To me, the big question is . . . how can anybody (congressperson/senator) have any confidences in (the lack of) leadership provided by Obama, Biden, Kerry, Reid, Boehner, Cantor, Pelosi . . . combined with almost no/zero/nada, reliable "allies" - a house of clowns, pathetic!

What has Assad moved weapons-wise and where has he moved it?
Who fills his position if he is taken out?

How long does it take for Assad to secure his country from a US airstrike? It´s been 2 years since we first told him to leave.

How do we get rid of the WMD? And as an aside, WHERE did the Wmd come from?

How many civilians will be killed and what´s the difference between being killed by Assad or by a missle?

Will this start WWIII?

Now is the time for the republican`s in the House to tell Boehner to shove it. You hang your fortunes on this Speaker`s `leadership` and you`ll lose the House in 2014.

Stand up and do the right thing or take a hike into oblivion.

Regardless of any other facts or justification, the very foundation of any authorization by Congress for use of force is the quality, character, integrity and leadership ability of the CinC. We have a bed wetting, pantywaist, left wing metrosexual. Does that bother anyone?

First check the NSA files on anyone who votes against the ones war and if that doesn´t work try the bribery route. I see no other explanation for the level of corruption in congress. The worst president ever using the military he despises as mercenaries for his Al Queda buddies in Syria. The republican leadership is so gratified that Obama called them that they can´t comply fast enough.

Obama has never built a relationship in Congress with his own Party - let alone the Republicans. Boehner and Cantor made a huge miscalculation when they openly backed a war that 80% of their base is against thinking they will get some non-existent political brownie points with Obama. Obama can forget about Congressional support for an un-defined butt covering mission to nowhere and Boehner needs to resign as Speaker.

I would like to think the Republicans are working hard to defeat this resolution. If they were true representatives of the people´s will, it would go down in flames. I doubt the majority if them even take their constituents opinions in consideration. Political favors rule the day. Watch. This will play out just like Obamacare. Votes will be bought.

It would be extremely ironic and very satisfying to me if the event that brings the downfall of barack obama is something he hasn´t even done yet. Obamacare, stimulus, etc. were bullied through a reluctant citizenry. A meaningless war started by a bruised ego is just one step too far, i.e. a Red Line.

Kick the can to Congress, the Empty Chair has spoken.

I´ve concluded that having congress assert it´s authority again against an overreaching executive branch is more important to our long term government health than now trying to save some of what´s left of our international standing.

There is virtually no successful outcome either way this goes for both Syria and for America so no matter how the vote goes down you can anticipate 100 to 1 odds that whichever way it goes we will get another completely embarrassing speech where obama says it´s not his fault. Our founders and all those who gave their lives for this great union are rolling over in their graves. How can one gutless hate filled man shame so many. The good news for the GOP is that the neocons are in the process of being exorcised from the party. Citizens are openly mocking McCain; Bill Kristol is looking more and more like an isolated joke.
Marco Rubio-a former neocon-is doing an about- face, joining Rand Paul. Sure there are neocon hold-outs, arguing: Iraq good; Syria bad. Truth is the Iraq war was idiotic, wasted a cool trillion, and polls show most Americans share my position and WANT NOTHING to do with the middle east anymore. I´m surprised Obama does not get this given he won twice-comfortably! on blaming Bush and the neocons.
If Romney had rejected the neocons early on, rather than staffing his foreign politcy team with these idiots (Bolton, Dan Senor), he might have won in a squeeker. Still it is better that the GOP get that neoconservatism is a losing ideology late rather than never (Neoconservatism is in many respects a Wilsonian LIBERAL point of view.) Conservatism does not require a prefix.

Considering the number of Americans who have lost their houses in recent times...
Nothing could be more fitting than for O-Bomber the NO-Bomber to lose the House
on this vote...
and O-Bomber should lose the White House he so fraudulently retained in the 2012 Steal...!

With the posts above slamming certain House members and other politico´s, allow me to
reiterate certain views...

Regarding Fraud Kerry...

He should never do Lurch in this town again!
His grade... Epic FAIL... !!

Now regarding Congress...
We need a Constitutional Amendment...
For a citizen-sponsored RECALL Election for all national offices...

Obviously much of the 2012 results were fraudulent.
Time for a complete RECALL Election for all House and Senate offices simultaneously!
And for the Presiduncy and Vice Presiduncy, of course... a national refer-end-dumb.

The Eastern-based Elitists will never clean up this mess for us.
They are too timid to impeach and convict.

We need legal measures now...
to dump any and all as we see fit by voting.
One of the Liberty Amendments or whatever you want to dub them...
Must be a citizen-generated immediate vote of NO Confidence in the Gummint...
And a complete RECALL Election to rid ourselves of this pile of worthlessness...

Many Congress-Ho´s are being exposed for the lame frauds they are.
We need the means to rid ourselves of this incompetent travesty of Gummint right now.
A National Refer-End-Dumb.
Buh-Bye, Dumb-O... and Company...

We need new leadership... and we´ll have to push for it ourselves.
We should not have to wait until November 2014 or January 2015 to get it done.

This air strike could be ineffectual and might open a can of worms!
The key to success is diplomacy and getting Putin onboard! We all know that is going.

The people who ask for our votes every few years will bring themselves down by ignoring the people on this vote!
It will be a huge boost to the constitutional amendments movement when people on both sides realize that our "representative government" is not the least bit interested in representing the voters and taxpayers.
My favorite amendment is number one. A 12 year term limit in congress would send all of the worst offenders back home when their current term ends.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. But the former Cabinet member and possible future presidential candidate may have been better served by a different title—like, say, Tough Decisions. Because Hard Choices has already been used. After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. In reality, this is a woman who is professionally defined almost entirely by two men in her life, both of whom happen to have

Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
