In Sweden, Obama to

Stockholm - President Barack Obama is seeking to use a 24-hour visit to this Swedish capital to show a softer side of American diplomacy even as the world´s gaze remains fixed anxiously on Syria. He intends to focus in the Nordic nation on climate change, trade and technology, a trio of issues on which there is broad consensus with European allies. The topics are a marked departure from the thorny, pressing matters he´s facing back home on national security and the economy. He also plans to pay homage to a Holocaust-era hero whose name is commemorated on street signs from

How many countless times has 0bama left town, left the Situation Room, ignored Congressional hearings whenever there is yet another major domestic or foreign crisis where he should be in the Oval Office reassuring the American people? Like I have said before, this allows the total "plausible deniability" on his statements and actions in the future when we have to sort out "responsibility." His Cabinet members, using untraceable email accounts [against law], follow 0bama´s criminal example.

Moscow - The last time the Russian military machine was on public display in Europe, its performance did not impress. But this is no longer the force that NATO observed blundering its way through a brief but messy war with its tiny neighbor, Georgia, back in 2008. A new, leaner and meaner Russian Army has been on display in Crimea and war-gaming on the Ukrainian border over the past month or so. Its vanguard is now made up of just a few elite divisions of highly-motivated, well trained, and fully equipped volunteer soldiers, capable of deploying swiftly anywhere in the former Soviet Union on the Kremlin's command.

Chad is to pull its peacekeepers from an African Union mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) in protest at claims that they aided rebels. A statement from the Chadian foreign ministry said its troops had been criticised despite their sacrifices. Chad has contributed roughly 850 soldiers to a 6,000-strong contingent. Its forces have been accused of siding with Muslim rebels whose ousting of the CAR government last year was followed by a wave of religious violence. The rebels, who call themselves Seleka, seized power last March. Their leader stepped down in January amid spiralling attacks and counter-attacks between

Former President Bill Clinton never saw evidence of aliens when he sat in the White House, he said Wednesday, but he wouldn´t be surprised if they show up some day. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Mr. Clinton was asked whether he had any inside knowledge about extraterrestrial life, and he said he´d ordered a review of records from Area 51 and Roswell -- two sites scrutinized by alien conspiracy theorists -- when he was in office. "First I had people go look at the records for Area 51 to make sure there was no alien down there," he said, "and people thought that because everybody who works there has to stop

Kiev, Ukraine - Government officials on Thursday blamed Ukrainian special police units directed by then-President Viktor Yanukovych and supported by Russian agents for killing some of the 76 people who died in the center of Kiev in February. The mystery of the deaths – many of them the result of sniper fire – has provoked numerous sinister theories. Ukrainians consider finding the killers a crucial test of their new government, not only of its competence but its commitment to transparency. Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the demonstrators themselves of the shootings, which he described as an effort to discredit the

A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Obama, who visited the local Zingerman´s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
