Obama is Replacing Oil Price-Stabilizing

RUSH: I would not reject the possibility here that Bashar Assad´s being framed. By the way, I´ve got no brief for the guy. He´s not a friend of mine and I´m not particularly interested in this guy maintaining power or what have you. But I´ll tell you, it is clear to me what our foreign policy is in the Middle East. It´s just like Jimmy Carter -- we got rid of the Shah. He was a dictator but he was a stabilizing dictator. And, by the way, some of you might say, "Rush, what do you mean we´re supporting dictators

Yes, he is. If he can manage it, he´ll remove the U.S. dollar as the world´s reserve currency, too. That will send us into an economic tailspin we won´t recover from without a major overhaul.

Bottom line: if it´s really bad for the U.S., Obama is all over it.

Theology vs. Spin

As the cliché goes, people are free to do what they want in their bedrooms. But people are not free to alter theological history in order to generate the best possible spin for their political causes. Everyone knows that the Old Testament is unequivocal in its condemnation of homosexuality (see Leviticus, where the death penalty is recommended "if a man also lie with mankind" 20:13-15). It is therefore strange to see certain leftists claim that the Bible is somehow being appropriated by radical conservatives to suit their own agenda. Some would claim that the New Testament does not touch upon homosexuality, at

One week after partying in the White House with millionaires and billionaires for Michelle´s 50th, the pre-SOTU buzz was that the president was planning to address income inequality and the minimum wage, among other non-issues Americans aren´t concerned about. Determined to get the president´s attention, notorious aisle-hugger Sheila Jackson Lee showed up in a two-piece suit the color of a wad of Bazooka bubble gum or perhaps a drippy bottle of Pepto-Bismol. As for Michelle Obama, in an effort to counterbalance the ocular assault, the woman who spends America´s money like a drunken sailor must have thought it would be a good

Hillary Rodham Clinton holds a commanding 6 to 1 lead over other Democrats heading into the 2016 presidential campaign, while the Republican field is deeply divided with no clear front-runner, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Clinton trounces her potential primary rivals with 73 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, reinforcing a narrative of inevitability around her nomination if she runs. Vice President Biden is second with 12 percent, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) is third with 8 percent. Although Clinton’s favorability rating has fallen since she stepped down as secretary of state a year ago, she has broad Democratic

During the morning before the 2014 State of the Union Address, White House Counsel John Podesta fired up the Democrat faithful with visions of a passionate President Obama about to declare rule-by-executive-orders to vanquish his obstructionist Republican adversaries. But instead of triumphant warrior fervently wielding his pen as a sword and his phone as a shield, the president seemed to politely sleepwalk through his prepared speech to the joint session of Congress. With his poll numbers at the same level as President George W. Bush the year before the Republicans were annihilated in the 2006 mid-term elections, Barack Obama seemed

President Obama drew applause from the House chamber for striking what seemed to be a populist blow against elitism in his State of the Union. "I believe that here in America, our success should depend not on accident of birth, but the strength of our work ethic and the scope of our dreams," Obama said early in his remarks. Looking at his administration, however, you would never know he believes that. Yes, as the president pointed out, both he and House Speaker John Boehner come from modest backgrounds. But as a graduate of Harvard Law School, Obama has shown himself more

Islamofascism: Caving to pressure from Muslim groups, the Pentagon has relaxed uniform rules to allow Islamic beards, turbans and hijabs. It´s a major win for political correctness and a big loss for military unit cohesion. Also, the sharia-compliant regulation threatens to expand the jihadi Fifth Column that counterintelligence already is dealing with in the wake of the Fort Hood massacre. The FBI is tracking more than 100 suspected jihadists within the military. Making special accommodations for Islam will only attract more Muslims into the military at a time when two recent terror cases highlight the ongoing danger of Muslims in uniform. Earlier this

With 10 months to go before midterm elections, it´s yet another slap in the face to the GOP´s most enthusiastic supporters. Nearly all political pundits agree Republicans have the inside track to winning this fall´s congressional elections — and perhaps even recapturing both houses of Congress. The GOP certainly seems to think so. But it might be taking such success for granted. Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than the president´s persistent pattern of lawlessness, his willingness to disregard the written law and instead enforce his own policies via executive fiat. On Monday, Mr. Obama acted unilaterally to raise the minimum wage paid by federal contracts, the first of many executive actions the White House promised would be a theme of his State of the Union address Tuesday night. The president´s taste for unilateral action to circumvent Congress should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology. President Barack Obama delivered a State of the Union Address on Tuesday that was important less for what he said than for what it says about him. The speech was long, more than an hour. At times it was defiant, at others it felt almost conciliatory. But mostly the speech was forgettable, disposable – a long list of modest policy proposals that will not be remembered for much longer than their echo in the House chamber. On domestic policy, we knew what to expect. The stars of last year’s speech – immigration and gun control – were mere afterthoughts this year,

MPs said her advisers had overspent to such an extent that her reserve fund had fallen from £35 million in 2001 to just £1 million today.
