John Kerry says there is ´irrefutable
and alarming evidence´ that
climate change is real

Daily Mail [UK], by Ryan Gorman

US Secretary of State John Kerry is concerned about the threat posed by global warming. Speaking Monday via satellite to climate experts gathered for this week’s Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) in the Marshall Islands, US Secretary of State John Kerry asserted that climate change needs to be taken more seriously and that action can be taken to stem the tide of consequence. The Marshall Islands, at no more than three feet above sea level, are especially at risk of rising seas, one of the many effects of global warming.‘The science is clear. It is irrefutable and it is alarming,’ Mr

Maybe if we launch 11,000 tomahawk missiles at the Marshall Islands we can make them go away and stop bothering our conscience. I mean, isn´t the Obamanation solution to all problems either hit them with missiles, or bury them in money? OK, ship a few trillion old dollar bills to the Marshall Islands to raise them another foot above sea level, how about that?

His weighing in on the "alarming evidence" of human-generated climate change gives me little or no confidence in his "alarming evidence" of Assad´s use of chemical weapons in Syria. A fool in one area is probably a fool in other areas as well.

Then I suggest you and king obama stay home more often. Yes, the climate is changing and will continue to do so. Greenland was called just that for a reason and England use to support a lot of vineyards. O, by the way this is the first time in 11 years that we have not had an Aug. hurricane after we were told this would be a very active season.

If Horseface thinks Climate Change is a big deal he should lead by example by getting rid of all of his mansions but one, his private jet, his SUVs, etc. Of course humans are altering the climate. So do cockroaches. The question is in what significant figure does the change occur. And is it bad. And if it is bad what could we do about it. The answers are infinitesimally small, maybe, and nothing.

All climate alarmists have been told to avoid any mention of facts. Just project certitude. Why? Because they have no facts that stand up. Most of the stuff they used to reference was either proposed explanations (theories) without any proof or tricked up computer models that were specifically designed to give the outcome they wanted to see. It was a pathetic excuse for science.

The real scientific studies that were included in the IPCC were FAR more modest in their conclusions, pointing out some results and areas of possible concern. The political elements then distorted those reports beyond all recognition in their summary, which is all most people read.

In short, the Alarmists have NOTHING so they have to talk big to bluster and bully us into following their agenda.

Just like BO and Jon Carry on Syria.

Sheesh, Jon. If you´re s-o-o-o smart with science ´n´ stuff, give us a cure for cancer, ´K?

But maybe this explains why Jon doesn´t dock his $7 million-plus yacht in Massachusetts -- the climate for boating is better in Rhode Island. ´Cause we know the climate for taxes is better there.

#6: Nah, Jon´s not rich. But thanks to marrying Tuh-ray-zuh, he has visitation rights to the late John Heinz´s money.

#11: Wait ´til Jon learns how much closer the moon used to be to the earth.

#13: Yeah, but that day/night temp swing is a bear.

#15: But obviously, the hurricane forecast scared off the expected hurricanes. Not having hurricanes proves it was a bad hurricane season!

#20: Good post. a. IIRC, termites emit more methane into the air than humans; and b. a critical point -- what if we try some irreversible scheme the Environuts cook up, and it makes things worse? Then what?

#22: Also, those IPCC reports often had the "conclusions" written before the sort-of sciency stuff was done or collected.

Mr Secretary:
Rising waters around the Marshall Islands can readily be dealt with by pulling the drain plug at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
If you believe that one, you also believe that humans can control the climate and its changes.

The intelligence regarding Iraq´s possession of chemical weapons was faulty according to Kerry. Never mind that Saddam used chemical weapons on the Kurds. Sure there´s evidence that sarin gas was used in Syria but you´re only guessing at who used it. You don´t really know. You want us to ruin our economy and go to war because the planet is doing what it has always done and some other people are doing to each other what people have always done to each other? The planet will survive and so will those other people. Give it a rest.

The pretensions of computer climate modeling to the status of science are premature at best, suspect at worst. At its present stage of development it is better regarded as a species of prognostication akin to astrology and other forms of fortune telling. It may eventually turn out to prove a reliable and genuinely scientific methodology. Right now it is not. It is no coincidence that the loudest proponents and activists are those with the least actual understanding of science, e.g. Al Gore, John Kerry and others. Neither of these men has any real grounding in science. Neither, I am afraid, is terribly bright. Both are opportunists, self-promoters and partisan ideologues whose basic truthfulness and integrity has long been open to question. It is a curious world when people like this presume to pontificate about matters they know less than nothing about.

It cannot be emphasized too much nor repeated too often that what is caused "global warming" is not a single issue but a mare´s nest of separate questions, all of which remain unanswered and are presently unanswerable:

1. Is global warming for real?
2. Is it significant, i.e. large and progressive?
3. Will it cause the negative consequences claimed?
4. Does human activity have any significant contribution to it?
5. Is there anything that can be done about it?
6. What are the costs and consequences and possible unintended effects of the proposed remedies for the proposed crisis?

The entire treasury of Rome would not have saved those in Pompei. I would give the same advice those who lived in Pompei received well before the catastrophic event, move from there.

That may be good advice for those in Tuvalu & Marshall Islands. Cheaer by far than wrecking the economies of the entire world, to no avail.

Unfortunate that Kerry provides his evidence of global warming at the same time he is speaking of irrefutable evidence of Assad using chemical weapons in Syria.

Really can´t trust anything he says.

I blogged yesterday about this "segregated" Muslim event organised by the Islamic Society of the University of East London, due to happen tonight at UEL´s main lecture theatre on its Docklands campus. Much to my surprise, UEL immediately banned it from their campus. [Snip] UEL should be congratulated over this. As I pointed out, it has an "equality and diversity" policy. It didn´t know that the dinner organised by the Islamic society--which was to include a speech by the controversial anti-gay preacher Murtaza Khan--was segregated by sex and was providing a platform for an extremist. The university´s decision to pull the

The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Watch, which has been looking into the group for 13 years, revealed that Dr Ismail Khudr Al-Shatti, an adviser to the Kuwaiti government and a member of Mr Blair’s advisory council, is a leading member of the Kuwaiti branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. the

Deep in the flat and featureless landscape of eastern Ukraine, it is all too possible that the outline of World War III is taking shape. Whipped up by the Kremlin propaganda machine and led by Russian military intelligence, armed men are erecting road blocks, storming police stations and ripping down the country’s flag. They are demolishing not just their own country — bankrupt, ill-run and beleaguered — but also the post-war order that has kept most of Europe and us, here in Britain, safe and free for decades. Vladimir Putin is striking at the heart of the West.

Why are the US authorities trying to extradite and imprison arguably the one man in the world with the skills and influence to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to fractured Ukraine? This week I flew to Vienna, Austria, to find out in a world exclusive interview with Ukraine´s Dmitry Firtash, the billionaire industrialist, philanthropist, and political fixer who is striving desperately to help his country forge an independent future free from the bullying of Russia and the meddling of the West in next month´s scheduled elections. And his biggest obstacle? According to Firtash, it´s Barack Obama.

The Internal Revenue Service is considering a bold move to label perks like free lunch given to workers by companies as taxable. The agency wonders if freebies like haircuts and gym memberships are a way to compensate the highly skilled rather than just a way to jumpstart productivity. After all, argue proponents of such a tax, workers at Silicon Valley firms like Google and Facebook receive free meals from famously fancy in-house eateries every day. Some companies even go a step further by offering freebies like haircuts, car services, and child care. Typical workaday folks can expect to pay for all

Remember Lovebug? This was the computer virus that swept through a young and fresh-faced internet in May 2000. Back then we were told it would do to cyberspace what the Black Death had done to Europe in the 14th century. We all got funny emails with “ILOVEYOU” attachments and when we tried to open them our computers exploded. Or rather they didn’t, though you wouldn’t have known that from the hysteria. Then along came MyDoom, Netsky, Witty and Melissa and, now, the deliciously named Heartbleed bug, which the US security expert Bruce Schneier has described as “catastrophic” and which has

Air pollution in China and other Asian countries is causing storms in North America to become stronger and changing weather patterns across the Northern Hemisphere, a new Nasa study has claimed. [Snip] The effect was most pronounced during the winter, the team said. Lead author Yuan Wang, from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, said: ´There appears to be little doubt that these particles from Asia affect storms sweeping across the Pacific and subsequently the weather patterns in North America and the rest of the world. ´The effects are quite dramatic.

According to figures compiled by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Moscow spent 4.1 percent of its GDP on defence in 2013, an increase of 0.6 percent over the past 10 years. By contrast, the United States spent 3.8 percent of GDP on defence and Britain spent just 2.3 percent. The only neighbouring country that spends more is Azerbaijan, with 4.7 percent. Defence spending in Ukraine has also rocketed by 16 percent in the space of a year following the crisis in Crimea and continued tensions with Russia over the eastern provinces of the country. Russia´s military spending relative to GDP is now

Up to 11 people are believed dead after airborne Ukrainian troops seized an airport in the country´s rebellious east today in the first sign that a promised ´anti-terror operation´ had begun against pro-Russian separatists. Heavy gunfire was heard at Kramatorsk airport as Ukraine´s interim president announced that his forces had retaken the site from militants who been seizing control of cities since last week. Local media reported between four to 11 deaths in the attack, but there was no immediate confirmation of any casualties. Russia said it was ´deeply concerned´ over reports of casualties in the region today. It comes

Even by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change´s own lamentable standards, its new report--by Working Group III of the Fifth Assessment Report--makes no sense whatsoever. [Snip] Before the report´s formal release, US officials--who had seen an earlier draft--wrote to the United Nations demanding it be amended. "The discussion of the economic costs of mitigation is too narrow and does not incorporate co-benefits of action." Loosely translated this means: "If we admit how much we´re spending to such little purpose, the taxpaying public is going to kill us." So the report was duly amended to suggest that the benefits of wind turbines, solar panels,

Her dark, macabre tales of Gothic romance and revenge have enthralled millions of readers and remain in print decades after her death. But for Daphne du Maurier, the wealth and worldwide fame she earned from novels such as Rebecca and Jamaica Inn were a poor substitute for the acclaim she craved from literary critics who dismissed her as a second-rank “romantic novelist”. Now her only son, Kits Browning, speaking for the first time ahead of the BBC’s three-part adaptation of Jamaica Inn, has criticised the “Hampstead literati” for overlooking one of the last century’s most original literary talents. Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,
