Justice Department bids to trap poor,
black children in ineffective schools

Washington Post, by Editorial Board

Nine of 10 Louisiana children who receive vouchers to attend private schools are black. All are poor and, if not for the state assistance, would be consigned to low-performing or failing schools with little chance of learning the skills they will need to succeed as adults. So it’s bewildering, if not downright perverse, for the Obama administration to use the banner of civil rights to bring a misguided suit that would block these disadvantaged students from getting the better educational opportunities they are due. The Justice Department has petitioned a U.S. District Courtto bar Louisiana from awarding vouchers for the

Thank you WaPO. Today you´re not jerks. To use black children as political pawns in this manner is despicable. These children deserve the opportunity to receive a decent education.

As a public school teacher, I see no problem with vouchers. Competition breeds innovation. Those who cannot compete should fail.

Obama and his plantation minions see equality everywhere. Especially equality of failure. After all, how is one to take advantage of a crisis if those who make it up are propelled toward traditional success.

But if enough black children become properly educated, they might leave the plantation. And then other blacks will say, "look at them", and start demanding higher standards in their own schools, resulting in a huge loss of Democrat influence. Therefore, we must not under any circumstances allow this to occur.

Vouchers simple allow parents options. They can choose to leave their kids in crummy failing schools or send to a private school and increase diversity in that school. The decision isn´t the states, or the DoJ´s or the Federal courts decision. It is the parents. Just as the Federal courts has ruled that the goobernment has no business in the privacy of the bedroom, the goobernment has no right to interfere with the privacy of parent´s choices to schools.

Of course the Dems/libs/progressives clamor for choice in abortion ( primarily blacks babies) but will not support choice in education when it comes to those black children who were not aborted. Why would blacks not march and protest when choice in education is taken away from them? Simply amazing the lack of logic.

Along the winding muddy waters of the Mekong Delta where he once patrolled for communist insurgents on a naval gunboat, Secretary of State John Kerry turned his sights Sunday on a new enemy: climate change. In this remote part of southern Vietnam, rising sea waters, erosion and the impact of upstream dam development on the Mekong River are proving a more serious threat than the Viet Cong guerrillas that Kerry battled as a young lieutenant in 1968 and 1969. "Decades ago on these very waters, I was one of many who witnessed the difficult period in our shared history," Kerry told a
