Cuba has reported a new cholera outbreak with 163 cases, 12 of whom are tourists, though no deaths were mentioned, according to a bulletin from the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO. The update from 23 August is based on information provided by epidemiological authorities on the island. Cuban authorities have yet to report publicly the number of cases though on Tuesday a pro-government blogger known as Yohandry quoted on the web the PAHO information which refers to the outbreak in the provinces of Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Camaguey.

I´ve been to Havana more than once and seen their "healthcare system" firsthand. Not what it´s cracked up to be. You would be better off with a Boy Scout and a first aid kit.

Havana Health Care is incredibly successful.

Michael Moore used to weigh over 1,200 pounds until he went through their
World Class bariatric program and shed most of the weight almost overnight...
and he never felt hungry!

Now he´s at least three dress sizes smaller.

And he can eat all the bananas he wants.
With Cuban sugar on ´em.
It´s a miracle.

Cholera was a constant threat in London until the English made an amazing discovery in the mid-1800´s. (actually, it´s pretty disgusting that it took them so long to figure it out)

If you let your sewage mix in with your drinking water, you get cholera epidemics. If you keep your sewage out of your drinking water, you don´t. That´s all there is to it.

Oh yeah, this makes me want to visit Cuba. Heard the phrase, "Don´t Drink the Water"???

FRESNO — Farmers in California´s drought-stricken Central Valley said the financial assistance President Barack Obama delivered on his visit Friday does not get to the heart of California´s long-term water problems. Amid one of the driest years in the state´s recorded history, Obama came to the Fresno area to announce $100 million in livestock-disaster aid, $60 million to support food banks and $13 million toward things such as conservation and helping rural communities that could soon run out of drinking water. The impending threat of communism in Venezuela is now a reality with the “Decree with Range, Value and Force of Fair Prices” published in the country’s Official Gazette on January 24, issued by President Nicolás Maduro thanks to the special powers granted through an enabling law by lawmakers of the chavismo regime in November of last year. The destructive power of this decree over businesses is enormous when compared to other similar laws passed by Congress over the last 15 years, and that’s a lot to say. Not in vain the goal of that decree is quite explicit: Consolidating the economic

Venezuelan troops fanned out across the capital, Caracas, and other major cities on Thursday after President Nicolás Maduro ordered a military clampdown against deadly unrest that he warned was part of a "fascist" coup plot. Piles of burning rubbish sat smoking along Caracas´ main avenue as troops moved to secure the city following an outbreak of street violence that left three dead on Wednesday. Armed soldiers surrounded government buildings and diverted traffic, while riot troops guarded entrances to the shuttered subway system as residents picked their way through broken glass.

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy."
