It was only a few years ago that millions of Hispanics cheered for Barack Obama as he took the oath of office. Many welcomed a new president who promised to restore economic growth, telling them, “I will be your champion when I am in the White House.” Looking back, those promises turned out to be nothing but rhetoric. Instead of a champion, millions of Hispanics would rather have a job. Hispanic unemployment is getting worse – spiking up to 9.4 percent - and more are descending deeper into poverty every day. Hopelessness is spreading and people are giving up – as
Comments: AY! CARAMBA
But in all fairness, everybody is getting screwed under this guy.
The liberal Democrat amnesty and expansion of immigration bill will seriously hurt both US citizen Hispanics and resident alien Hispanics if it ever passes.
The bill, through a massive legalization program and a huge increase in immigration, would grant an estimated 46 million foreign workers and their foreign family members access to the legal US job market in the next ten years. Such a huge in-sourcing of cheap foreign labor into the legal US job market is bound to seriously adversely effect the future job prospects, wages, work related benefits, and the working conditions of legal Hispanic workers here now, both citizens and aliens, who would have to compete in the future against all that cheap foreign labor for just about every scarce job out there across the entire US economy.
If Republicans have any political smarts at all they will ensure that they are seen as being on the side of American workers, as once American workers of all stripes start being disadvantaged in the workplace by all that cheap foreign labor, the political blow back is going very heavy and it will be the American workers here now who have US voting rights who will decide the winners of US elections in the near future.
On a rebroadcast of Laura Ingraham´s radio program, she mentioned [and criticized] the old Leftist fairy tale that "they´re only here trying to help their families, to find a better life."
Setting aside for the moment the fact that they are here illegally, and therefore are breaking other laws, the following would prove whether the Left´s [absurd] claim is true: deny all social benefits to illegals. Let´s see just how many "American Dream" types are among them. How many will come here then?
The President´s policies are hurting EVERYONE. His incompetence knows no cultural or ethnic bounds. He´s an "all people" destroyer. I really am not that concerned with Barack Obama, as his time will end and the damage to the country HE caused can be repaired over time. It is the mentality of so many Americas that they blindly drank the koolaid TWICE. Those low information voters will be with us for generations. Now that is truly something to cause alarm.
COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- D-Day arrived for Obamacare Saturday and it began with an 11-hour shutdown of the website. The system is functioning a bit better than before but is still terribly inadequate. Applications are in limbo -- many already initiated are stalled, lost or otherwise can´t be completed. Applicants eligible for subsidies must use the website, or HealthCare.org paper alternatives that can´t handle the volume and the system often can´t verify applicants´ eligibility for aid. Overall, the website still fails to complete the enrollment process for many who try. Website software to get insurance companies paid subsidies isn´t functioning and
President Obama is trying to work off some of the calories from the nine Thanksgiving Day pies on the White House menu with a game of basketball. The commander-in-chief is stepping out of the White House to play hoops at the FBI headquarters, according to a White House pool report. It´s unclear who the president is playing with. Obama, a big basketball fan, picked up a game last Sunday at the FBI headquarters after announcing the interim agreement with Iran over its nuclear program.
Conservative writer and filmmaker Dinesh D´Souza isn´t sending any Thanksgiving good wishes to President Obama this year. The author of The Roots of Obama´s Rage started a Twitter firestorm Tuesday with this missive: "I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!" Trayvon Martin is the Florida teenager killed by George Zimmerman in 2012; Zimmerman, pleading self-defense, was acquitted by a jury earlier this year. Tweeted reactions to D´Souza´s included the terms "disgusting" and "vile."
Is the Obama White House airbrushing history? It was a hallmark of the Stalin era: Fallen Soviet leaders vanished from official photographs. Nobody accuses President Obama of such subterfuge (well, nobody except for those who believe he forged his birth certificate), but a change in longtime practice in the White House has raised questions about the integrity of images Americans see of their president. The White House has increasingly excluded news photographers from Obama’s official events and is instead releasing images taken by in-house photographers, who are government employees. These photos often appear online and in newspapers, even though they lack
A new study of methane emissions finds that the U.S. is spewing 50 percent more methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times better at trapping heat than carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere than the Environmental Protection Agency previously assumed. Several factors contribute to the accumulation of methane gas in Earth’s atmosphere, such as the burning of fossil fuels and leaks from oil and gas refining and drilling, but one contender stands out above the rest as particularly repugnant: cow farts.(snip)According to the new research, livestock’s noxious flatulence accounts for a large portion of the methane gas being released into the atmosphere.
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford wonders if Barack Obama is "crazy" for the leftist policies the U.S. President is pushing. The crack-smoking Canadian has been battling a drug scandal, claims of sexual harassment and a string of embarrassing freak-outs before the press, but the Toronto politician laughed out loud about the mess Obama finds himself in. Come on, some of the stuff you guys are doing down there, to me, are you crazy?" Ford told FOX News reporter Jesse Watters for his segment on "The O´Reilly Factor" when asked about the Obama administration´s policy platform. "No, no, no, no, no," he
Electric cars lead our list of the cars and trucks that lose their value faster than average. Also ranking poorly are some big-ticket luxury cars, and, not surprisingly, older, lame-duck vehicles that are late in their product life cycle and about to be replaced. On a list of predicted residual values for 2013 models produced by ALG Inc., the bottom three examples are the battery powered Nissan Leaf; the Lincoln MKS, a more upscale, expensive cousin to the Ford Taurus; and the Mercedes-Benz CL Class, a two-door version of the flagship S Class sedan, which is about to be replaced. All
The Supreme Court set up another showdown over President Obama’s health care law on Tuesday by taking on a pair of cases that challenge an administrative rule requiring many for-profit companies to insure birth control. Hobby Lobby stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties are among dozens of large firms with religiously devout owners who say the “contraception mandate” tied to the Affordable Care Act infringes on their right to religious freedom. The Obama administration asked the high court to review the issue after a federal appeals court in Colorado found in favor of Hobby Lobby, an Oklahoma-based crafts franchise, setting up a closely
Among the many who decried the Obama Administration’s catastrophic capitulation to the nuclear ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, none spelled out its potential consequences as trenchantly as Israel’s Economy Minister Naftali Bennett: “We awoke this morning to a new reality,” he said Sunday. “A reality in which a bad deal was signed with Iran. A very bad deal. If a nuclear suitcase blows up five years from now in New York or Madrid, it will be because of the deal that was signed this morning.”(snip)That violence and tyranny is not incidental to the theology of the Twelfth Imam,
Kanye West recently declared that he was done criticizing President Barack Obama. “I’m not gonna mention him no more,” the rapper said. “I’m past that.” Well, that lasted about a week. West ripped Obama again in an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 on Monday. "The reason why Obama mention our name is cause we’re most relevant,” West said. “…He’s just saying that trying to be cool. Obama was supposed to the coolest person on the planet now he gotta say our names to be cool. It´s like a feature, we feature in his interviews right now. They need a feature from
According to a centuries old rumor, Roman Emperor Nero played his fiddle as Rome burned for six days in A.D. 64, destroying 70% of the city. While historians ponder if Nero, an aloof ruler and moonlighting musician, really did play his harp-like Cithara as Rome went up in flames, or whether the rumor is simply a metaphor for his absentee leadership, he wasn’t the world’s first top political figure to disappoint. And certainly not the last. In piecing together the vast intelligence warnings on Benghazi, will Hillary Clinton go down in history as another Nero? We’ve all heard stories about
New York - Police in New York have arrested a man following a spate of random attacks they believe are linked to a so-called "knockout" game. Officers arrested Amrit Marajh on charges of assault after a man claimed he was punched in the face as he walked down the street. Police are investigating whether the attack was part of a new craze, in which people seek to knock out unsuspecting members of the public with a single punch. The 24-year-old alleged victim, who was not seriously injured, said he overheard a group talking about it before he was knocked to the ground in Brooklyn at around
Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) said on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation” Wednesday that when Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish, “he didn’t charge food stamps.” “When Jesus had those five loaves and two fishes, he didn´t charge food stamps. He didn´t ask anybody how much money they had. He fed them because they were hungry, and that´s really where we ought to be,” McDermott said in response to Republican critics of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). In September, the House approved a plan by Republicans to cut $39 billion in food stamps over the next
The nation’s view of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, colored by the horrific Benghazi assassination of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on her watch, has suddenly turned upside down, with more now holding an unfavorable opinion of the likely 2016 presidential candidate. A new YouGov/Economist poll found Clinton, whose approval ratings have typically been sky high, with an unfavorable rating of 48 percent, more than the 46 percent who have a favorable opinion of her. The YouGov pollsters said that the change in American attitudes toward Clinton "suggests that negative press surrounding the tragic
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Bill Clinton, the cliché goes, was the first black president, no matter his skin color. That being the case, Barack Obama is not the first black president, or the first African-American president, if you prefer, but the first hippie president. Clinton’s southern background and lifestyle were indeed more typically black, just as Obama’s was more typically hippie. And we’re not just talking about the “Choom gang” here, scarfing “Maui Wowie” on the sands of Oahu. We’re talking about all of it, the whole multi-culti-missing-white-mother-vanished-Kenyan-father-anti-imperialist-America-is-always-the-enemy-and-don’t-you-forget-it-nine-yards. And like most hippie culture as I knew and experienced it, it wasn’t about “peace and love.” Not
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
CNN host wondered out loud on his show this evening whether the physically unfit Chris Christie could follow the "perfect physical specimen" Barack Obama into the White House: "After the perfect Barack Obama, who´s a perfect physical specimen to many people´s eyes, does it matter?" Morgan asked his guest. "Or is actually somebody very different, someone who´s much more of a regular kind of guy who likes cheeseburgers and beer, but appears to be a straight talker, somebody perhaps more of a straight talker than it appears Barack Obama turned out to be?"
Nobody could accuse the press of ignoring the fiasco-on-a-server that is HealthCare.gov. The Obamacare website’s woes are dominating coverage on the network news, the cable talk shows, the blogs and, of course, high-octane websites like POLITICO. But did the press do a good job of covering the Affordable Care Act before the health care exchanges went online—sort of—on Oct. 1? Were we adequately warned of the troubles that were to come? And now that HealthCare.gov’s problems are headline news, is the coverage of it any better? Sure, one can find a few examples of one news outlet or another warning of impending
MSNBC´s Chris Matthews will interview President Barack Obama this Thursday, the network announced Tuesday. The interview is part of Matthews´ "Hardball College Tour," and will take place at American University in Washington, D.C. According to a news release from MSNBC, Matthews, along with university students, will "discuss a variety of topics with the president including voter suppression, healthcare, the decline of confidence in the government and the overall political dysfunction in Washington." On Monday our colleagues Carrie Budoff Brown and Jonathan Allen reported that the White House is launching a coordinated campaign to return attention to why the Affordable Care Act
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
Continued global warming poses a risk of rapid, drastic changes in some human and natural systems, a scientific panel warned Tuesday, citing the possible collapse of polar sea ice, the potential for a mass extinction of plant and animal life and the threat of immense dead zones in the ocean. At the same time, some worst-case fears about climate change that have entered the popular imagination can be ruled out as unlikely, at least over the next century, the panel found. These include a sudden belch of methane from the ocean or the Arctic that would fry the planet, as
