Kentucky students to first lady
Michelle Obama: Your food

Students in a rural Kentucky county — and their parents — are the latest to join a growing national chorus of scorn for the healthy school lunches touted by first lady Michelle Obama. “They say it tastes like vomit,” said Harlan County Public Schools board member Myra Mosley at a contentious board meeting last week, reports The Harlan Daily Enterprise. The growing body of USDA meal regulations implemented by the Department of Agriculture under the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010? has long been a signature issue for the first lady. Sidwell Friends School menus should be posted on line weekly for ALL school kids in the Country to see.
Kids should see what Malia and Sasha eat everyday..an object lesson on "do what I say, not what I do". Time to educate future voters in how the democrats think of the dumb masses.

Her kids, of course, are at private school where these rules don´t apply. The goal should just be to get the kids to eat. It is well-known that most school lunches end up in the garbage can. It isn´t the lunches that are making kids fat-it´s the Cheetos and candy bars they are eating after school along with their dinners at McDonald´s.

Tab, idiot, not enter. Thin as rail neighbor boy was chided for taking 2 bread sticks instead of other food. Mother had to fight like the devil to get his calories and aide still was confused. This in a great school district with lots of ´smart´ parents. Kids need those calories, especially since schools often have crazy lunch hours (2 pm, for heaven´s sake after an early bus!) Complete disaster in many ways for kids these days...no way to have to grow up and kids realize it and lose respect.

#21, the reason is bus schedules, the number of children the cafeteria can hold, the number of lunch sessions needed and the need to keep children in school a certain number of hours to meet state requirements for the legal definition of a ´school day´.

The Sidwell Friends´ menu is pretty eclectic. If I were a kid, that wouldn´t hold my interest. Maybe the blueberry soup, but that is it. Time to bring your own lunch. Even the name of the ACT, Healthy, Hunger Free Kids is lame. Anyone that ate that stuff was going to be hungry before school was out. I wonder if the kids that go there can convince the chauffeur to stop at Mickey D´s or 7-11 before they get home for a Snickers bar of a bag of Doritos.

Washington - The National Archives on Friday released its largest batch yet of previously withheld documents from the Clinton administration, with topics including the conflicts in Somalia and Rwanda, Middle East peace negotiations, the Oklahoma City bombing and public figures as varied as Richard M. Nixon and Oprah Winfrey. The bundle that is likely to receive the most attention, though, is one that covers Hillary Rodham Clinton’s ill-fated attempt as first lady to overhaul the health care system. Mrs. Clinton, who ran for president in 2008, is considering a second attempt in 2016. Here are some notable sections:

Washington - The CIA’s former top lawyer disputes Senate findings that the spy agency lied about its brutal interrogations of terrorists, insisting the tactics produced useful intelligence and flatly denying that the CIA misled the former Bush administration, Congress and the American public. At the same time, John Rizzo, who left the CIA as acting general counsel in 2009, said some CIA employees or contractors were overzealous in the use of the tactics but that the CIA informed lawyers at the Justice Department of the excesses. Rizzo was responsible for helping to create the legal foundation for permitting waterboarding,

General Motors Co said it would ask a U.S. court to bar lawsuits related to actions before its 2009 bankruptcy, signaling a tougher stance toward legal claims stemming from its recent recall over faulty ignition switches. GM has said it is protected from liability for claims related to incidents that occurred before it exited bankruptcy in 2009, and has taken steps to raise those issues with the court by filing motions to stay recall-related lawsuits while it asks that bankruptcy court to clarify the extent of that protection. In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday, GM asked for a stay on litigation

As pro-Russia protests spread in eastern Ukraine, a strip of striped orange-and-black fabric has become as ubiquitous as the armed men in unmarked military fatigues. Its name is the Ribbon of Saint George. Imbued with history, it’s a powerful symbol in the ongoing information battle over Ukraine. For Russians it´s a mark of allegiance to the state – both the fearsome, expansionist Russian state of old and its modern successor under President Vladimir Putin. When pro-Russia rallies took place last December, seeking to rival the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev, very few ribbons were seen.

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already
