America´s Newest Hero, Staff Sgt. Ty Carter:
´We weren´t going to surrender´

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

If you got up this morning thinking you have a tough day or week ahead, get over it. Here´s the story of Army Staff Sgt. Ty Carter, one of 53 American soldiers who awoke to the sound of incoming enemy shells. Surrounded by some 300 Taliban, fighting for hours, dashing in and out of hails of bullets, rescuing a fallen comrade, toting ammo to others, trapped in an armored Humvee taking enemy rounds non-stop.

Ty Carter has more character in a pinhead on his pinkie than Obama has in his whole body.

More blather by Obama about how it is unacceptable for veterans to wait for mental health treatment while he does everything he can to undercut them, both in the field and at home.

I suggest an additional amendment to the Liberty Amendments, requiring any POTUS to have been a member of our military.

To Ty, thank you for your courageous service to our country.

Saw a clip of the ceremony on the PBS news last night, Barry looked like he would rather be on the golf course than saying good things about this guy. A very flat read off his notes, but he did use the formal speech, not the "folks" or "black" vernacular.

´We weren´t going to surrender.´ Wow, what a statement, what a lesson. How many Americans back home refuse to vote for a rino over a dem because the rino is not perfect? How many Americans back home are demanding a third party or some other perfection before they vote? Men like Staff Sgt. Ty Carter show us that this country is worth fighting for every day.

I love these kinds of articles but I don´t want to read about ANY such stories coming out of Syria, because the total acceptable white hat body count from there is zero.

Bad enough when the Dems throw away the hard fought gains of the military like they did over VN and Iraq. Even worse when they send good people to die on a fool´s errand.

Let the muzzies practice their "culture" in
peace. IMO, right now we have the best possible outcome there at the right cost to us.

Sen. Rob Portman gives the Republican Party's Weekly Remarks Hi, I’m U.S. Senator Rob Portman from Ohio, and I want to talk to you today about how to get America moving again. It’s been five years since the experts said the recession was over, but for millions of Americans, it feels like it never ended. We’re living through the weakest economic recovery since World War II, and a lot of folks are struggling to make ends meet. Unemployment remains stubbornly high; the number of long-term unemployed is actually at record levels. But these statistics only tell half the story. Eleven million Americans have become so discouraged that they’ve given up looking for work altogether.

Hi, everybody. This week, I traveled to New England, where I was joined by four governors who are working to raise the minimum wage in each of their states. And they’ve also joined me in calling on Congress to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour. Because it would give nearly 800,000 Americans in their states a raise — and lift wages for about 28 million across the country. So these governors aren’t waiting for Congress to make up its mind. And in my State of the Union Address, I asked America’s business leaders to go ahead and do what they could to raise their employees’ wages, too.

While President Obama´s approval, credibility and trust poll numbers sink into a black sea, the polls on his wife and Secretary of State aren´t that great either. Their numbers are much better than POTUS, according to Gallup. But neither Kerry nor Mrs. Obama is as widely approved by Americans as their recent predecessors. With one exception. Go figure, eh? Kerry's highest personal favorability came years ago when he won the Iowa caucus in 2004 -- 61%. After that, it was pretty much downhill, to 52% on election day and 44% 11 months ago. Even in September during his boss' Syria red-line mess, when Kerry announced his country

Perhaps you´ve heard with echoes of Nazi Germany annexing its neighbors with no convincing Allied response, Russian troops have taken effective control of eastern Ukraine. Here´s how President Barack Obama responded: He telephoned Russian President Vladimir Putin. Obama expressed "deep concern" over Russia´s moves, suggested Putin´s troops leave and warned the occupation "would negatively impact Russia’s standing in the international community." [Snip] Here´s how Col. Putin responded to Obama´s words of warning: He sent more Russian troops into Crimea.

Growing up working in my parents’ carpet store, my daddy used to tell me that your word is your bond. That when your bond is broken; your trust is broken. (Scroll down for video of these full remarks.) Unfortunately, President Obama has broken that bond with the American people, and they no longer can trust his word. It seems like every week there is another broken promise from this administration about ObamaCare. As a candidate for president, then-Senator Barack Obama promised to sign

Hi everybody. In my State of the Union Address, I said that the best measure of opportunity is access to a good job. And after the worst recession of our lifetimes, our businesses have created eight and a half million new jobs in the last four years. But we need to do more to make America a magnet for good jobs for the future. And in this year of action, where Congress won’t do that, I will do whatever I can to expand opportunity for more Americans. This week, I took two actions to attract new jobs to America — jobs in American manufacturing, and jobs rebuilding America’s infrastructure.

Contrary to popular conception about porky Americans, there is some good news today for the country´s toddlers (and their parents) as they begin the journey as the next generation of teens, then adults: A new federal study finds a significant drop in obesity in children between the ages of two and five. A 43% decrease, to be exact. [Snip] The obesity decline among U.S. pre-schoolers is the first optimistic sign in such a major nationwide study. And Obama’s White House was quick to hail Mrs. Obama.

You may have seen news reports about Americans tiring of the war in Afghanistan, now our nation´s longest ever. Not surprising. What is surprising -- and hasn´t been widely noted -- is that it´s taken so long for a U.S. population famously addicted to instant gratification to tire of a deadly war that has so far claimed the lives of 2,313 countrymen and women. In previous wars since 1950 it´s been a mere matter of months before Americans were doubting the reasons for combat.

Barack Obama’s policies aren’t solving these problems — they’re causing the problem. President Obama Wednesday stepped into the explosive political eruptions in Ukraine to gratuitously warn the embattled repressive government "there will be consequences if someone steps over the line." Seriously? After 1,856 days in office, this naive yokel, who promised he´d charm the world into loving America again, still cannot resist the temptation to utter empty threats to foreign leaders, threats that they know very well he has absolutely no intention of fulfilling, threats that diminish any surviving U.S. clout abroad.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night to react to the uproar over him cutting off Elijah Cummings‘ mic during a contentious IRS hearing, saying that accusations he was “racist” are just “beneath response.” Issa suggested Cummings’ outburst was a “pre-staged event,” but Kelly asked, “Who cares? Let him have his couple of minutes to rip on you! So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn´t hard to figure out why Lerner´s lips are sealed. First, she knows the House of Representatives can cite her for contempt of Congress, but Attorney General Eric Holder would decide whether she is prosecuted on that charge. During his speech to the CPAC crowd on Thursday, Sen. McCain fired back at Cruz during an appearance on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey

But since definitions of an "in name only" marriage vary, such as "a marriage of convenience" or "a sexless marriage," and Maraniss failed to explain his claim, it is unclear what he was implying. Therefore, Obama´s oft-told nativity story must be searched for the full implications of Obama´s parents´ "in name only" marriage.
