Snowden suspected of
bypassing electronic logs

Associated Press, by Adam Goldman & Kimberly Dozie

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 8/24/2013 5:23:55 PM

Washington - The U.S. government´s efforts to determine which highly classified materials leaker Edward Snowden took from the National Security Agency have been frustrated by Snowden´s sophisticated efforts to cover his digital trail by deleting or bypassing electronic logs, government officials told the Associated Press. Such logs would have showed what information Snowden viewed or downloaded. (Snip) The disclosure undermines the Obama administration´s assurances to Congress and the public that the NSA surveillance programs can´t be abused because its spying systems are so

Comments:
I know that NSA is a very "secret" place, but still haven't heard any heads rolling from there down the Capital steps. Some "safeguards" they must have there./S

Apparently the company that provides security clearance for workers like Snowden is being investigated for not properly investigating prospective hires. This means that there are potentially thousands more people like Snowden handling classified information.

Over 25 years ago my startup company tried to sell the NSA an operating system that would have made such bypass impossible, yep! The told us to go away, not interested. The IT team had their careers invested in their version of pretend computer security (like frisking nuns at the airport) and did not want to see their rice bowl taken by an upstart company.

Oh, it would have made it impossible for Snowden to get the data unless he knew the passwords, no hacking possible.

Sigh, the system is still available (public domain I believe) http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~KeyKOS/

Somewhat convenient.

If they don´t know how Snowden beat the systems then NSA employees would seemingly be off the hook.

For, while the matter is not understood, which employees can be proved negligent, incompetent, or corrupt?

Article makes some sense. If your actions aren´t logged you have the equivalent of a cloak of invisibility.

You can´t even put into words how loathsome the media is trying to seperate Obama from spying on everyday Americans without probable cause.

In their eyes Obama has been victimized by this scandal because there was a breakdown in the system, not the fact that Snowden´s releases show him being an obsessive snoop dog.

The media wants to protect what they really believe in,Obama´s pledge of transparancy.

Snooping people´s emails, phone calls and other modes of communications had nothing to do with holes in the system but people working under orders from Obama to compile dossiers on people. These people hacked Gen.Petraeus´s email to find blackmail on him and were supposed to believe that was an accident.

We all know the general could blow the lid off the Benghazi disaster,so they have to be holding something over his head.

We just had a Brig. general court martialed for having an affair with an underling, why wouldn´t Petraeus get the same treatment?

If our Congress and our Supreme Court are being blackmailed with fussy details from their past, gleaned through illegal methods at the service of Barky and the Barkettes, then why would it be such a Herculean task to dig up the simple truth about this guy´s life history and it´s documentation ????

What kind of a prolonged nightmare world is it when all good strategies only work for the other side, when we always assume that our best and most principled actions will always be misrepresented by the media ?

If we are to be blamed either way then let´s give ´em hell on toast, all day every day.

They hate us anyway.

The media bias is not a problem, it´s a license to do as we please because it´s no more expensive than kissing their collective anal apertures.

Lawmakers dug in Sunday for a proxy war over the new health care law, now that President Obama has selected a well-known manager to replace Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and lead his signature program into a new era. Mr. Obama says his budget chief, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, is a “proven manager” who will lead HHS with distinction and build on whatever momentum the White House gained by signing up 7.5 million Americans in private health coverage from October to March. But Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Republican and member of the Senate Finance Committee that will vet

Vatican City - Pope Francis, marking Palm Sunday in a packed St. Peter´s Square, ignored his prepared homily and spoke entirely off-the-cuff in a remarkable departure from practice. Later, he continued to stray from the script by hopping off his popemobile to pose for "selfies" with young people and also sipping tea passed to him from the crowd. In his homily, Francis called on people, himself included, to look into their own hearts to see how they are living their lives. "Has my life fallen asleep?"
