Obama wants to rate colleges
on diversity and costs

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Hi, everybody. Over the past month, I’ve been visiting towns across America, talking about what our country needs to do to secure a better bargain for the middle class. This week, I met with high school and college students in New York and Pennsylvania to discuss the surest path to the middle class — some form of higher education. But at a moment when a higher education has never been more important, it’s also never been more expensive.

Looks like another expensive Obama Care style political fiasco is in the making. Because the major part of this will be to greatly expand access to colleges and universities for academically underachieving favored minorities who otherwise would not be admitted, the wimpy Republicans will probably go along to get along, as they are scared to death that Obama and the liberal Democrats will call them out as being racists.

How about rating Boy Zero on 1) Failures; 2) Racism; 3) Hatred for OUR country; 4) Lying; 5) Treason; it goes on and on.

I´m old-fashioned but shouldn´t we rate them on the quality, intelligence and knowledge of their graduates? Geography, history, literature, writing/speaking skills etc.

Granted, this may tend to place holders of degrees in African-American studies, Women´s Studies, Gender Studies and Media Studies at the bottom of the pile but them´s the breaks.

I listened to 0bama saying college should be free, and with his generous student loans that he has provided, with all the lenient paybacks, it is almost free now. Isn´t that why tuition at these universities has risen so fast. Free and generous amounts of money flowing to the universities, and the universities build spas and gyms because they have never had so much money rolling in. Boy, 0bama has no clue about economics.

Liberals decided that all "students" are college bound. The high school where I work in north suburban Denver is 78 percent hispanic with a roughly 2 percent college graduation rate, is a good example. The unrealistic school mission is that all students advance to a 4 year school. The customary outcome is that students who have no chance to succeed in higher education delay appropriate career planning and preparation, matriculate for two or three terms, then flunk out with a big student loan that won´t ever be paid back.

According to the Dept. of Labor, only about 20% of current jobs require a college degree.

An oft cited Georgetown University study from 2010 claims 63% of all job openings by 2018 will require workers with at least some college education.

Those two statements actually have no relevant correlation (current jobs/job openings, degree/some college, etc.), but libs are using the latter to con more Americans into the shackles of the federal plantation.

Arm yourself with hard figures and keep the debate comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

If diversity is so important, then we should shut down historically black colleges. As it stands, the federal government provides special funds for those historically black colleges.
And if diversity is so important, then college football and basketball teams should have more white players...

So that college graduates will still be unable to pass the college entrance exams. and not a company in the U>S> will hire people based on their college degrees any longer. because they will be useless pieces of paper.

Tensions continued to mount over Ukraine Tuesday as that nation´s military engaged rebel insurgents in the east and Russian leaders refused to recognize the Kiev leadership as legitimate, blaming it for the growing instability. An estimated 50,000 Russian troops remain massed on Ukraine´s borders as uniformed intimidation. There was plenty of talk in Washington this week about equal pay. The thing is — it was just that: more talk. As a woman who worked at McDonald’s to get through college…. as the mom of two young daughters … and as the elected representative of thousands of hardworking women, I have always supported equal pay for equal work. And if a woman is being paid less than a man because of gender discrimination, that is both wrong and against the law. The protections provided to women and others in the Equal Pay Act must be enforced to make certain there is no pay disparity because of discrimination.

Hi, everybody. Earlier this week was Equal Pay Day. It marks the extra time the average woman has to work into a new year to earn what a man earned the year before. You see, the average woman who works full-time in America earns less than a man — even when she’s in the same profession and has the same education. That´s wrong. In 2014, it’s an embarrassment. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. This is an economic issue that affects all of us. Women make up about half our workforce. And more and more, they’re our families’ main breadwinners. So it’s good for everyone when women are paid fairly.
