RUSH: The Bill Clinton foundation. You know, Media Matters for America -- which is not even left wing. This bunch is just indescribable. They exist for one reason, and that is to lie, misrepresent, and take out of context what happens in conservative media and then report it that way, and what Media Matters does is they provide the information, say, on this program for mainstream media reporters who don´t listen to it. So a mainstream media reporter will find out what happened on this program by going to Media Matters, or on any other conservative program, or on Fox
And has paid out some $50 million in travel expenses for the grifters. Do they pay for nothing? (Well, that goes without saying.) All these do-gooders who are looking out for the poor and down trodden make mega-millions throwing a nickel here and a dime there to help the poor!
I was just trying to get my head around $50 million for flying expenses. So here goes nothing.
50M / about $100 per hour to fly commercial, roughly. That´s 500 thousand hours.
Divided by 10 years equals about 50 thousand hours per year.
So lets say 2 hours a day average flying time times 365 days equals about 730 hours a year for one person.
50 thousand hours per year divided by 730 equals 68.5 people flying two hours a day every day of every week of every month of every year for ten years. Or maybe 34.25 people flying four hours a day. Or maybe 17.125 people flying eight hours a day every day for ten years.
Does this sound about right? Is there something funny about these numbers I don´t see?
Oral Roberts, Al Sharpton and Bill Clinton were having lunch when Bill asked how Rev Roberts determined how much of the offering he took for his salary. “Well,” said Roberts, “I had a circle woven in the carpet in my office. I take the offering and throw it into the air. What lands in the circle I give to the Lord. What lands outside I take for my share.”
“Wow,” piped up Rev Al. “I I took a can of spray paint and painted a circle on my office carpet that I use. I throw the offering up and what lands outside the circle I give to the Lord. What lands inside I take for my share.”
Bill sat shaking his head and slapped his hand on the table. “This is amazing,” he grinned. “I thought I had an original idea to decide how much I should donate to the Lord’s work so I cut a huge circle with a utility knife in the slab wood floor of my ‘double wide on the river.’ I throw up all the donations I receive. Then I let the Lord decide. I figure what stays up He intends to keep for His work. What comes back down I figure the Lord has decided I must keep!”
ObamaCare Fail: An urgent mass email to all Senate staff warns not to trust any confirmation from the D.C. health exchange and they may not have insurance come January. Why aren´t the rest of us being warned? We have chronicled the fact that ObamaCare, the increasingly unaffordable Affordable Care Act, has caused many with pre-existing conditions like stage-four cancer, the very people it was supposed to help, to lose their insurance at a critical point in their lives. For others, the skyrocketing premiums and often five-figure deductibles have made having insurance almost irrelevant. If you can´t afford the premiums or the deductibles,
Representative Paul D. Ryan’s eight terms in Congress have produced much political celebrity and Republican respect but just two laws bearing the Ryan name — a renamed post office and a modified excise tax on arrows like the ones he uses for bow hunting. Then on Tuesday he struck a budget deal with Senator Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington, that affixed a new label to the polished veneer of Mr. Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican: deal maker and, to some, traitor. With a modest, bipartisan blueprint on taxes and spending, Mr. Ryan is taking a risk he has previously shied away from, putting
The gangster state of North Korea became a nuclear power in 2006-2007, despite lots of foreign aid aimed at precluding just such proliferation — help usually not otherwise accorded such a loony dictatorship. Apparently the civilized world rightly suspected that, if nuclear, Pyongyang would either export nuclear material and expertise to other unstable countries or bully its successful but non-nuclear neighbors — or both. The United States has given billions of dollars in foreign aid to Pakistan, whose Islamist gangs have spearheaded radical anti-American terrorism. Since a corrupt Pakistan went nuclear in 1998, it has been able to extort such foreign payouts —
RUSH: Well, we may as well stick with this silly budget stuff, ´cause there are a couple of points to be made about it. But it, too, is just part of the daily script of the daily media narrative that´s coming out of Washington. This government´s gonna run whether they get a budget done or not; everybody knows it. Government isn´t gonna shut down. There isn´t any mood to shut down the government. If it does shut down, there´s not any mood to reform it, not right now, for a whole host of reasons. I was watching CNN during the break.
SEATTLE - Two Seattle veterinarians are pioneering the use of medical marijuana to treat pets. Dr. Sarah Brandon, co-founder of Canna-Pet, says medical cannabis can be used for many ailments plaguing your dog or cat. "Cannibanoids control inflammation to reduce pain from arthritis," she says. "They can help reduce anxiety." Brandon and her colleague Dr. Greg Copas launched Canna-Pet two months ago because citing that traditional pet medicines can have undesirable side effects. For example, Brandon says,"Anti-inflammatories can cause vomiting and Opioids can cause decreased appetite." These are reportedly common arguments to support the use of medical marijuana for humans. However, Brandon
PYONGYANG, North Korea — North Korea on Friday announced the execution of Kim Jong Un´s uncle, calling the leader´s former mentor a traitor who tried to overthrow the state. The announcement came only days after Pyongyang announced through state media that Jang Song Thaek — long considered the country´s No. 2 power — had been removed from all his posts because of allegations of corruption, drug use, gambling, womanizing and leading a "dissolute and depraved life." The state news agency KCNA said a tribunal examined Jang´s crimes, including "attempting to overthrow the state by all sorts of intrigues and despicable methods with
RUSH: Tab in Salt Lake City, great to have you on the program. Hello. CALLER: Yes. Exponential dittos from Salt Lake City, Rush. So glad I got in. RUSH: Thank you very much. CALLER: I wanted to tell you something that has not been advertised in any of the national news in regards to Obamacare, and that is the price increase on my medications. I´m 52 and disabled. I fell 20 feet from a tree. I have no disks between my L3-4, a shattered foot into 62 pieces, a torn meniscus. Anyway, my medications went up from -- this is two months ago
Mike Huckabee today ended his daily radio show heard on 200 stations across the nation, the first obvious sign that he is considering another presidential bid in what is shaping up to be a jammed 2016 GOP primary. He has hosted the “Mike Huckabee Show” on Cumulus Media since April 2012, but said that it takes up to nine hours a day to prepare. “As for the new endeavors, at this time, it would best for me to say, ?Stay tuned!´" he wrote on his Facebook page. Supporters won´t have to wait long. On Friday, he is participating in a “Pastors and
A key outside conservative group is defending its opposition to the Ryan deal before the full details of it were known, saying officials from the group had been in frequent discussion with Republican negotiators before signaling they would oppose its general framework. “The people who were very close to the deal knew we were going to be opposed, knew when we were going to come out and be critical of the framework. And we actually talked to them ahead of time and said, ‘hey, are the press reports true? If not, tell us where they’re wrong and we’ll stand back,’” says
RUSH: "Congressional staffers were warned Wednesday not to rely on information provided by the Obamacare exchange website, in an e-mail alert informing them they might not be enrolled for coverage even if they technically signed up." Congressional staffers told not to rely on information. What about the rest of us, then? "The ´very important´ message, sent to Capitol Hill officials Wednesday afternoon, is the latest sign that the government has concerns about the reliability of the system." No kidding. They only get concerned when members of Congress can´t sign up or when they can´t rely on information provided by the exchange
RUSH: Well, this budget deal, I was just telling Mr. Snerdley, folks, I must be honest with you. I´m having trouble getting engaged in it, because I think everybody´s expectations are a bit high here when measured against reality. But I feel duty-bound to discuss this. You know, as I said yesterday, I got e-mail from people thinking that I had shirked my duties as premier talk show host by not talking about this. This is Thursday, so it must have been Monday or Tuesday. And it was clear, I talked to a bunch of people about this. The Republicans
When politicians and media people call for "a conversation about race," one suspects that what they have in mind is an exchange so one-sided that it would be more lecture than conversation. A detailed confirmation of that suspicion comes from Jen Eyer, who is not from Charlotte but from Michigan. She is "statewide community engagement director for MLive Media Group," which publishes a website for a consortium of midsize Wolverine State newspapers. Eyer has a post--one of a series on what are termed HOT BUTTON ISSUES--titled "How to Discuss Racial Issues on MLive Without Violating the Community Rules." It should be
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. This lmao! Michelle Obama vs Prime Minister of Denmark at Mandela´s ceremony. pic.twitter.com/Rq4uF9fTaZ — Stun (@TheBlogPirate) December 10, 2013
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
Views of the tea party are at all-time lows in a new poll, as primary challenges to establishment Republicans continue to heat up Washington. Just 30 percent of Americans view the tea party favorably in a new Gallup poll released Wednesday, the movement’s lowest point since Gallup began polling about it during its rise in 2010. Also in a first, a majority of Americans had an unfavorable view of the tea party, at 51 percent. Similar numbers of respondents described themselves as proponents or opponents of the tea party: Twenty-two percent identified themselves as tea party supporters, while 24 percent said they
If you go down on the ice today you´re sure of a big surprise - a rare glimpse of 20 polar bears gorging on a bloody midnight feast. These photographs show a rare cluster of males, females and cubs all dining out on the remains of a whale carcass. They spent a night and a day stripping every last morsel from the mammoth sea creature. Usually Polar bears are solitary and would never tolerate being so close to each other. But with food in plentiful supply and bellies dragging on the floor they seem too lethargic to fight.Wildlife photographer Michal
