In a video featuring Duck Dynasty´s Phil Robertson, the TV star - in what appears to be a religious sermon - declares his pro-life stance on the issue of abortion. When discussing the ethics of, and that there´s even a debate on, the issue, he asks, "What in the world happened to us?" "Listen, from the time you started inside your mother´s womb, Thomas Jefferson had it right, you have the God-given right to life for crying out loud. You´re this long (pointing to his finger). You´re a week old inside your mother. They suck you out of there when you´re
Comments: Just my humble opinion:
We, in America, are at the point of choosing whom we will serve.
The destruction of the ´Duck Dynasty´ is about to begin. They have made their choice about whom they will serve. They will not back down. So, there are those who will want to take them down.
OP is right - the destruction of DD has begun. The Robertsons won´t know what hit them - every lib rag in the country will send reporters to search through their trash, and interview everyone who ever worked for them.
The Robertsons need to call the Palins and ask for advice.
But do liberals even watch this show OP? Maybe to make fun of it. Perhaps they are seen as "so redneck" and "so backwards" by the yankee elites and hollywood weirdos that the media will just say "he hates abortion, no surprise here." But they do love any excuse to destory southern Christians so maybe you´re right...
I think the Left will rue the day they decide to mess with the Robertsons. They´re one family who knows how to freeze a target and ridicule it. I was raised in a similar tight knit family. Nobody utilized the art of sarcasm better than my Mother. She was the queen bee of rebuttal. It was a treat to watch her in action. Best of luck to those who set out to humiliate the Robertsons. You´ll need it.
Nah. Why would anyone bother to "take down" a popular television show and why would anyone, fan or not, be surprised that the devout Robertson clan would have strong views on abortion? The show will remain on for this season and, maybe, one more. Then it will be time to move on.
Roe vs. Wade was indeed the turning point for the USA, and the beginning of our demise. Abortion has destroyed our culture, morals and ethics. The SCOTUS said that man knows better than God. We have lost the value of life. Think about those many millions of babies murdered in the last 40 years. Had they been born and grew up, would we need to import Mexicans to "do the work no one else will"? Wouldwe now have 30+million more taxpayers, economic growth, and a sustainable social security system? Americans have made themselves extinct through abortion and have opened the flood gates to massive immigration--legal and illegal--to mak up forthe popuation shortfall.
Listen if elites get to attacking the Robertsons they won´t know what hit him. One time the DD clan was due to appear on Jimmy Kimmel´s show and the singer Morrisey was also on. Morrisey is a militant vegan and said he would not appear on the show with murderers. So the DD guys filmed a fake commercial for a line of carrot calls. It mad Morrissey look that the humorless fool that he is.
They thought the show about the "rubes and hicks" that populate the space between the coasts would a joke...a place to go to snicker at the "bitter clingers."
I love that they are shocked and the popularity. (The ratings they crave)but just like Mel Gibson´s "The Passion", they will never understand that genuine American people have principles, love and loyalty to God, family and their country.
Like Sarah Palin..they now have a target on their backs but, like Palin, they can handle it.
Btw, I agree that there is no doubt that the Robertsons are strong enough, smart enough, and articulate enough to handle whatever comes their way. I´m just saying that "whatever" is certain to come their way, because their beliefs and growing fan base have put them on the radar screen of "the opposition". It may get interesting.
They may try a ´take-down´ of the TV show, but that is small potatoes, money-wise, for the Robertson family. They made (and will continue to make) their money off of duck calls, hunting videos, etc. And liberals don´t buy duck calls. So an attempted boycott would only help the business.
I have to admit the consigned tone and defeatism on this thread would not impress Phil Robertson. It certainly did not impress me. Stand Up, Be Counted. You have to get in the face of the Left, and let them know you do not agree. Rolling over never works. Just ask the Moderate Sellouts among us, they know.
To add to what #6 said, we tend to forget that not only have around 50 million babies been killed, but their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren ad infinatum were also removed from our future.
I´ve never seen DD but I may have to start watching.
No.s 4 & 17 get it right. We are going to have to choose which side we are on & I´ve chosen & anybody who knows me knows what side that is. Like Phil, I DON´T CARE what libs think & I say so! We´re accused of everything anyway - might as well live your belief system. My conservative brother got me to watch the show with him & not only was it very entertaining - it struck me that this family would be OK if the country goes into a real financial meltdown. How many on the gov´t dole would know how to feed themselves or have a large family to rely on in a national emergency? I think the real appeal of the show is that it is NOT PC!
Sorry for the 2nd post, and sorry if anything I have said has been miscontrued as a tone of defeatism. Nothing could be further from the truth - quite the opposite!
The reference to making a choice in the OP was regarding Joshua 24:15: "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
The point is that the Robertsons have made their choice. Americans are at the point where we must make ours. We will not take back this country without standing for/on the undergirding precepts and principles on which it was founded and built.
You have to ask yourself, if the glorious new, progressive future came to pass...no electricity except when Hillary talks [windpower] no modern farming, no self defense, no gasoline and diesel fuel, no military and in fact no interference with Gaia in any way...
Who is more likely to survive, the Robertsons [and all the similar folks they represent] or the strange liberal creatures who infest our present public life.
One historian wrote "if a hand smashed the glass of their liberal greenhouse, reached in and switched off the heat, they would all surely perish."
KINGSTON, Jamaica - Police in Jamaica say authorities have seized 3,300 missile warheads and a machine to make missiles and bullets. Deputy Police Superintendent Steve Brown said Friday that custom officials discovered the weapons late Thursday aboard a ship at Kingston Wharf. He declined to say where the shipment originated from or its destination. No one has been arrested. Brown told reporters that police are seeking helping from international agencies after their findings. He said it was the first time authorities had made such a discovery. [Entire copy]
McLEAN, Va. — A nuclear deal between the U.S., Iran and other world powers has been described as a trust-building step after decades of animosity that hopefully will lead to a more comprehensive deal down the road. But for many of the 66 Americans who were held hostage for 444 days at the start of the Iranian revolution, trusting the regime in Tehran feels like a mistake.[snip]Retired Air Force Col. Thomas E. Schaefer, 83, called the deal “foolishness.” “My personal view is, I never found an Iranian leader I can trust,” he said. “I don’t think today it’s any different
A first-term Florida Republican congressman has been charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, according to charges filed in Washington, D.C., superior court on Tuesday. Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., faces arraignment on Wednesday in Washington. He was arrested on Oct. 29 for alleged possession of cocaine, which was first reported by Politico. The charge carries a statutory maximum sentence of 180 days of imprisonment and/or a fine of $1,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. Radel released the following statement on Tuesday: "I´m profoundly sorry to let down my family, particularly my wife and son, and the people of Southwest Florida.
A sweeping child pornography investigation has led to the rescue of 386 children around the world and the arrest of 348 people, Canadian police said Thursday. Toronto police describe the Project Spade operation as one of the largest child porn busts they´ve ever seen. "It is alleged that officers seized hundreds of thousands of videos detailing horrific sexual acts against very young children, some of the worst that they have ever viewed," Inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins said. Police said 108 people were arrested in Canada and 76 in the U.S. Others were arrested in other countries. Australian Federal Police commander Glen McEwen
RALEIGH-DURHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, N.C. --The pilot of a Southwest Airlines flight headed to RDU went on the loudspeaker and told passengers their plane was going down, according to a woman on board the flight. "He said, we´re going down. And everyone is looking around like, is this a joke? Is he serious? And then you felt the nosedive," passenger Shelley Wills said. Wills told ABC11 the Tuesday night flight from Tampa took a nosedive thousands of feet in the air while they were about 100 miles away from RDU. Wills is a nurse and tried helping the first-time flier seated next to her who
The Family Research Council (FRC) released a video in time for Veterans Day that warns Americans about the persecution of U.S. troops who express their Christian faith. The four-minute-and-44 second video, “A Clear and Present Danger,” features active duty members of the U.S. military sharing their concerns about the “tremendous culture of intimidation and fear in the ranks of the American military right now.” The identities of the men the faces and voices of the man are obscured to cloak their identities. “Soldiers give up a lot of privileges or rights to be soldiers and defend the freedom of others,”
Today has, rightfully, been set aside to honor the men and women who have stood in the breech between us and those who would destroy us, devoting precious years in the very prime of their young lives to protect the country, the people and the way of life they love. They all made tremendous sacrifices, up to and including the ultimate one of giving their lives for their country. They suffered the loss of limbs, sight and even their sanity, or at the very least, the grinding loneliness of separation from family, loved ones and everything that was dear and
A leading allergy doctor has debunked a host of myths, saying that gluten allergy doesn’t exist – and nor do hypoallergenic pets. Dr David Stukus, an allergy specialist from Columbus, Ohio, wrote a presentation debunking various common allergy misconceptions after years of hearing patients declare inaccuracies. One pet peeve is the patients who say they can’t eat bread because they’re allergic to gluten, he says. ‘There’s this claim about “gluten allergy,” which really doesn’t exist,’ he told the website today.com. ‘It’s not really a recognised allergy. Wheat is a recognised allergy — but a lot of people will misinterpret that as
Sybrina Fulton was on Capitol Hill Tuesday testifying on the issue of “stand your ground,” an issue close to her heart after the death of her son Trayvon Martin. Senator Ted Cruz told her during the hearing that stand your ground laws are not racist, and Fulton responded to Cruz’s defense of the Florida law Al Sharpton‘s MSNBC show Tuesday night. Sharpton cited statistics to rebut Cruz’s claim that African-Americans have benefitted more from stand your ground laws in Florida than white Americans have. Fulton told Sharpton there’s “some disconnect” in Cruz’s remarks, saying he is “not aware of the
Aurora, Colo. — Police were searching Tuesday for a man who tried to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from her bedroom in the middle of the night by slashing an outdoor screen and dragging her into an alley. Investigators say the girl screamed for help early Monday morning and was able to get away from the abductor just as her father ran outside to help her. The father told police he saw the suspect speed away in the alley that runs behind their house. Police Chief Dan Oates said the girl´s loud struggle to escape may have saved her life. Oates
Josef Martin, 92, woke up with a gun barrel in his mouth. The robbers told him to "shut up" and stay quiet as they ransacked his east-central Fresno home early Wednesday morning. The World War II veteran, who served in four major battles in Europe and is blind in one eye and nearly deaf, lay motionless with the gun in his mouth, sure that if he moved, they would kill him. After a few minutes, a robber got him out of bed and struck him in the face with the butt of a handgun, then threw him into his bedroom
Don’t donate to the tea party or to evangelical Christian groups — that was the message soldiers at a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood said they received from a counter-intelligence agent who headed up the meeting. If you do, you could face punishment — that was the other half of the message, as reported by Fox News. The briefing was Oct. 17, and about a half-hour of it was devoted to discussion about how perceived radical groups — like tea party organizations and the Christian-based American Family Association — were “tearing the country apart,” one unnamed soldier said, to Fox
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. This lmao! Michelle Obama vs Prime Minister of Denmark at Mandela´s ceremony. pic.twitter.com/Rq4uF9fTaZ — Stun (@TheBlogPirate) December 10, 2013
The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
