Senator: Obama Administration Secretly
Suspended Military Aid to Egypt

Daily Beast, by Josh Rogen

Original Article

The U.S. government has decided privately to act as if the military takeover of Egypt was a coup, temporarily suspending most forms of military aid, despite deciding not to announce publicly a coup determination one way or the other, according to a leading U.S. senator. In the latest example of its poorly understood Egypt policy, the Obama administration has decided to temporarily suspend the disbursement of most direct military aid, the delivery of weapons to the Egyptian military, and some forms of economic aid to the Egyptian government while it conducts a broad review of the relationship. The administration won’t

If any of you think that Obama is just bumbling his way along had better revisit your thinking. Everything he´s been planning over the past 20 years is right on schedule. He couldn´t be happier.

I don´t know about the details but do agree, #2, that he is far from bumbling and far from the dumbo that many here inexplicably paint him as, vis-a-vis the transformation he has accelerated and all he has accomplished. If he weren´t effective, why are we all so concerned here about the state of the country?

That said, I wonder why the aid was "secretly" suspended.

With the billions of dollars that the Saudis, Kuwait and others are giving Egypt, our little pittance is meaningless either way. It is critical to relatively peaceful Middle Eastern countries to have the Brotherhood gone.

They still haven´t figured out whether it was a military coup or not. Nope, the real coup happened when Obama threw Mubarak out and installed his MB puppets, under the orders/directions of CAIR,who´s also responsible for us losing Afghanistan.

Obama didn´t have the guts to make a national announcement on this and instead let some loose lipped senator leak it to the media.

Obama can shove his aid anyway. All the Saudis have to do is cash in a gold fountain or two and have plenty of dough to help the military.

The events in Egypt are the most delightful things I´ve seen since Obama was elected. The media will never admit it but this is a huge defeat for Obama and other western liberals wo were hoping to see the end of Israel.

The left and the media crying about this crackdown makes me sick.

The "suspended aid" was due to be paid in September. Since September is not yet here, is it really suspended? Additionally, the statement saying aid was suspended came from an underling in Senator "Leaky" Leahy´s office, I would not try taking that to the bank.

The American people have decided over the last few weeks, that we SHOULD have suspended aid to Egypt immediately after the military coup that occurred. As soon as Obama and his minions realized that was the publics sentiment, they backtracked and pretended that they had already done that.

It´s called leading from behind.

This administration is dishonest in just about everything they do. There is no way this was done in "secret".

I think many of us have learned by now that Obama seems to "run and hide" at any sign of foreign trouble. During the Benghazi attack he was nowhere to be found during the critical hours. After the Navy Seals helicopter disaster in Afghanistan he was nowhere to be found. During the coup in Egypt he was nowhere to be found.

He has managed to get all sides in Egypt to hate him. He sent millions of dollars in aid
to pResident Morsi when he was in charge, yet now claims he "doesn´t take sides". The Generals now in charge hate him because he lied about not taking sides and cut off aid to them and helped engineer the overthrow of Americas friend, Hosni Mubarak. Obama didn´t say a word when he knew the MB was burning Christian churches in egypt and killing Coptic Christians. Does anyone not believe now that everything Obama touches turns into rubbish? He messed up the American economy after he got involved with it. He is messing up our healthcare after sticking his nose into it. It should be obvious by now he is a Left Wing fanatic. He constantly lies and blames Republicans for things he makes up in speeches. He breaks the Constitution all the time now. There seems to be nothing we can do unless he is impeached and the lily-livered Repubs are never going to do that. We are stuck with a madman for pResident.

The next time any DemocRAT tries to tell us one of our candidates is "not qualified" to be president, just laugh in their face. That lie won´t work any more.

The Russians will seize this opportunity. Obama´s "Obama Mask" is coming off. Remember this?...

Obama´s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper:

Sue Myrick, North Carolina: "Do you consider the Muslim Brotherhood a danger based on their extremist ideology? And can you speak to the validity of the memorandum that I mentioned? And do you see the Muslim Brotherhood as a danger to America based on that?"

CLAPPER: Let me just speak briefly to the Muslim Brotherhood as an international movement. The term "Muslim Brotherhood" is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al-Qaida as a perversion of Islam.

Excellent #16.

FTA: “Our ability to influence the outcome in Egypt is limited,” he said. “It’s up to the Egyptian people. And they are a large, great, sovereign nation. And it will be their responsibility to sort this out.” Disheveled Hagel strikes again! lol.
Ha ha. Looks like no one told Obama this as he certainly did influence the Egypt outcome by insisting Mubarek step down immediately. But like a blow to the head, like poor Hillary got, he seems to have forgotten/amnesia. Gee Obama assured us the MB was non-secular. Right! Amateurs at it again, region in flames. Way to go Obama!
Forget any US credibility-there is none!
Again Obama takes sides with a minuscule % of population over the greater will of the majority, whether it be in Egypt or the US.

They DC loons might have no intention of cutting off US aid, they just float this "leak" out there to see if it gets popular appeal. They don´t know what they are doing or what to do.

Didn´t Egypt already get the F16´s and the M1 Abrams tanks? General Si Si is no fool(NO Obama not the owner of the pizza chain). Even without continuing US aid, Si Si has the resources at his disposal to wipe out Muslim Brotherhood, so GO for it. As Obama is learning the hard way, when the US abandons an ally, the other local players fill the void and yes sometimes in a good way. More money will stream in to fight Muslim Brotherhood from other sources.

The egyptian military and the muslim brotherhood both know that whoever takes control in Egypt will kill all the leaders on the other side regardless of any prattling from Obama about human rights democracy etc. The motivation for this outweighs the need for US Aid. The real change is that Putin schedules joint military exercises with Egypt a few hours after Obama cancels similar exercises. Obama leadership will result in pushing Egypt ( Suez Canal ) back into the Russian Sphere of influence. In his mind it is worth it to help the muslim brotherhood and destroy the west. Obama´s interference in the Sunni Shia Muslim divide is no doubt a major part of the Benghazi debacle as well.

Why does Caligula come to mind ?. Because the senators were in shock at what he was doing. They´d never dealt with a ruler who did whatever he pleased and didn´t even bother to ask. To make matters worse, their new ruler was a depraved despot. They came to the conclusion they´d simply have to wait and let him collapse under his own weight. We know what happened. Obama has a tough role being both a closet jihadist and a stealth communist. Give him credit for being a double dealng puppet dictator. He and his New World Order puppeteers are planning now for his move to the UN. If that dosn´t work out, he and the

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive
