WASHINGTON — Watch out, Bo — there’s a new dog in town. The White House says the Obamas have added a second dog to the first family. Her name is Sunny, and she’s a Portuguese Water Dog — the same breed as the Obamas’ other dog, Bo. The White House says that breed works well for the Obamas because of family allergies. Sunny was born a year ago in June in Michigan and arrived at the White House Monday. She’s expected to join Bo for evening walks and the occasional Oval Office huddle with the president. Yes, OP - they had that poor neglected chocolate Lab. Zip´s popularity is down so they are adding another pet. Likely Bo is so neglected that he needs company.

Now the news lead story will be the new dog instead of Christian churches being looted and burned to the ground all over Egypt, nuns paraded on the street as prisoners of war. Also as an added bonus from now on family vacations will require separate 747´s for Him and Her as well as separate Osprey´s for Bo and Sunny. I am surprised they didn´t name it Diddly.

My husband was at the humane shelter recently, donating items from our deceased kitty, and he saw a family turn over their family dog to the shelter because they didn´t have the money to feed it. It was a very sad time for that family. Obama´s policies have hurt the working man so much. But hey, life is great for Obama!

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
