Judge Says Courts Must

First Amendment: An Oklahoma constitutional amendment barring the state´s courts from weighing or using Shariah law was struck down in federal court. How can a law written to protect the Constitution be unconstitutional? Only in the parallel universe of judicial activists in which U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange resides can a law barring a particular religion´s influence over court decisions be considered under the First Amendment of the Constitution as an unconstitutional establishment of competing religions. "While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out, the court finds that the public has a more profound and

Slow down toots! You may want to evaluate the status of a female judge in a Sharia-dominated, Seventh-Century A.D. society (if you can call it a "society").

Some information about the judge behind this ridiculous ruling:

(From Wikipedia)
"Vicki Miles-LaGrange (born 1953) is the Chief U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma.(snip) She was the first African-American woman to be sworn in as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. Miles-LaGrange was nominated by President Bill Clinton on September 22, 1994."

We often talk about elections having consequences. Well here is an example of residual damage from the election of 1992.

Fast-food protests to

NEW YORK -- Fast-food protests are planned for several U.S. cities Tuesday as labor organizers look to bring attention to practices they say illegally deprive workers of their wages. The protests are planned for about 30 cities, but it´s not clear what the scope of the turnout will be. It´s part of an ongoing campaign by labor groups to build support for pay of $15 an hour and bring attention to the rights of low-wage workers. Organizers have also been referring workers to attorneys, who filed lawsuits in three states last week saying McDonald´s was stealing their wages in a

Maybe Barack Obama should have given Zach Galifianakis an off-ramp, like the one he keeps trying to offer Vladimir Putin. Those were some pretty barbed lines the president unloaded on the comic actor last week in their semi-parodic "Between Two Ferns" interview. In case you´re wondering why I´m writing about this—well, I am too. A Malaysian jetliner has vanished into thin air, while Russia has completed its seizure of Crimea and may yet invade other parts of Ukraine. Serious stuff, you might say. But the big story of last week as far as the president is concerned is his appearance alongside

Secession: Following Sunday´s forced referendum and despite U.S. and European Union sanctions, it looks like Russia will succeed in separating Crimea from Ukraine. Are the borders of every country now up for grabs? We´ve heard all the arguments, including that Crimea´s population is 58% Russian, and that it was only in 1954, during the Soviet era under Nikita Khrushchev — himself a Ukrainian — that it became part of Ukraine. But allowing Crimea to be pried away from Ukraine by threat of force after Russia´s fraudulent referendum sends a signal to disgruntled regions of the world that, when it comes to borders,

President Obama on Monday slapped Russia with the kinds of economic sanctions not seen since the Cold War, but the administration’s supposed hard line was met with mockery and a “collective shrug” in Moscow, Kiev and Washington. One day after Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ukraine and join Russia, the White House and its partners in the European Union responded by targeting high-ranking officials in Moscow along with pro-Russian figures responsible for the unrest in Ukraine.
