Texas Senator and potential 2016 candidate for the Republican nomination Ted Cruz released his birth certificate to the Dallas Morning News on Sunday, in an attempt to quell a minor birther movement that has questioned Cruz’s American citizenship and eligibility to be president. The certificate confirms that Cruz was born in Alberta, Canada. As his mother was an American citizen, he is one as well, but as he was born on Canadian soil he also became a Canadian citizen. Cruz maintains citizenship for both nations until he formally renounces one or the other. The dual citizenship allows him to run
Cruz is toast, anyway, as far as a presidential run. The mainstream media has settled on Christie, for Pubbie nominee, Hildabeast, for democrat nominee, McCain for Hildabeast´s running mate, and the Pillsbury Doughboy for Christie´s running mate.
My guess is Cruz will have to renounce his Canadian citizenship before becoming a candidate for president. Dual just won´t fly with most American voters. That said, I will vote for him if he is the nominee. I like everything he stands for and he´s one of the few in Congress with backbone!
Also, shows how a candidate can resolve questions of citizenship by promptly and simply showing the original birth certificate...without spending millions on lawyers to hide it, like some else we know.
Now was that so hard? Why did it take Obama 3 years and constant vilification of his opponents to release something he is required to do for verification of his eligibility? Once again, it just proves Obama thinks he´s above the law, and that the rules don´t apply to him.
The Alabama Supreme Ct. just recently received and recorded a 57 page affidavit providing info that the current WH occupant produced and provided for viewing a fraudulent BC. One of the experts verifying and saying it was a computer generated fraudulent document is an ´expert witness´ used by the law office of the Oval Office squatter. Big ooooooooppppppps on that ´dear leader´.
The sixty four million dollar question is - Is he a Natural Born Citizen of the United States? The SCOTUS will never take this up. If they do it will be crystal clear in short order that we are suffering under an illegal, illegitimate regime for the last five and a half years.
#9 is correct about Cruz´s mother´s name. Every other article I can find lists her maiden name as Darragh but on the b.c. it´s Wilson. Too much explaining means unsuitable candidate. This seems to be a theme with recent elections - McCain born elsewhere, Romney born here but his dad born in Mexico, now Cruz and, of course, 0bama born and raised who knows where.
Isn´t there an American born in America with two parents born in America who can run against the communists?
Duel-nationality is very common today. Almost all of today´s immigrants to the USA who become naturalized US citizens are duel-nationals, as they can legally retain their home country citizenship when they are given naturalized US citizenship. Many countries give their citizenship to people born in the USA to one or both of their native born citizens who is living in the USA.
If the liberal Democrat amnesty is passed, in a decade or so, there very easily could be 20 million or more Mexicans most living in the US Southwest, who could retain their Mexican citizenship while becoming naturalized US citizens that would give them US voting rights. Such an occurrence would constitute one massive Mexican voting bloc that would have the great potential to decide which US political party wins future US national elections. If they could do that, they would also have the potential to decide much of future US domestic and foreign policy. You have to remember when immigrants retain their foreign citizenship they also retain their foreign allegiances, a lot of which are contrary to both US national and security interests.
With such a huge number of Mexicans voting in US elections and since just about every Mexican hates the borderline between Mexico and the USA, it is easy to see that in a decade or so that it may be politically impossible for the USA to continue to construct or maintain any sort of effective borderline.
I thought it had always been said by lucianne posters that to be a NBC one had to be BORN in the US regardless of parents citizenship? That was always the argument that Obama wasn´t a NBC if born in Kenya. Now that is not true? Since when has Canada been able to say who is eligible to run for US President?
Good idea, #3. I suspect there are a lot of Albertans who might support this idea. That´s probably the most conservative province in Canada. Actually, maybe they wouldn´t want to join the union after all, at least while Obama is president.
So what is it with the Wilson/Darragh business, then? Was she married briefly to someone named Wilson, and the hospital mistakenly listed that as her maiden name? Every other biographical source I´ve seen for Cruz gives his mother´s birth name as Eleanor Darragh. Okay, cue the Twilight Zone theme music.
Aaaarrrgggghhhh. He can never be a natural born citizen, even if he does renounce his Canadian status. I´m frankly concerned he´s allowed to be a senator while holding dual citizenship status if in fact this Canadian status is true.
See #21. Repeat. Rinse. From now until the primaries.
No, 24, he is a citizen but not eligible. This was explained by a post on this site quite some time ago by an American woman who gave birth in another country and was told when she registered at the consulate that her child would be an American citizen but not eligible to run for President.
#26 - Are these the same lawyers that have multiple interpretations of the word ´is´? Just because one went to law school doesn´t mean that one is expert in the law. Exhibit 1 - Hillary Clinton. Exhibit 2 - Barack ´Barry the Fraud´ Obama. Exhibit 3 - Michelle Robinson ´The Beard´ Obama.
I personally find that the Constitution is easily understood by literate 14 year olds, as it was intended. It´s lawyers that have written massively complex laws and Constitutional interpretations that have mucked up the works.
“Natural Born - A child born to TWO US Citizen at the time of birth. US Supreme Court 1875 Minor Case. “
The ruling in the Minor case declared that a person born in the US of parents who were both US citizen was definitely a Natural Born Citizen but it also explicitly stated that it was not that court´s purpose to provide a definitive definition of NBC and that some other court or congress would have to provide that definition.
Included in the majority opinion:
´The constitution "does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens."´
"(I)t was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners."
As previously posted:
There are two types of citizens, Natural, at time of birth, and Naturalized, anytime after birth.
Either President Obama needs a new speechwriter, or he needs a new set of economic policies. Actually, he needs both. Can anyone think of a more boring, banal, irrelevant, or stale speech than the one he gave this Thursday in Washington DC? The speech was allegedly on the economy, but more likely it was to divert attention from the Obamacare catastrophe. Whatever the motive, his idea that the defining challenge of our time is to reduce income inequality is completely wrong. In truth, the defining challenge is to restore more rapid economic growth, create substantially more jobs, and significantly reduce
President Obama on Thursday said that Republicans should be “embarrassed” that they have not done more on Capitol Hill, blaming them for Washington gridlock. “They´ve got to be embarrassed,” the president said in an interview on MSNBC’s "Hardball with Chris Matthews." “Because the truth of the matter is that they´ve now been in charge of the House of Representatives, one branch of, or one chamber in one branch of government, for a couple of years now and they just don´t have a lot to show for it.” Obama said that congressional Republicans were too fearful of offending their conservative base to
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
On Thursday, in the aftermath of South African iconic leader Nelson Mandela’s death at age 95, President Obama’s White House account tweeted a tribute to Mandela – a picture of Obama in Mandela’s Robben Island prison cell, along with a quote from Obama about Mandela: (Photo/Tweet) Even in paying tribute to a historic figure, President Obama couldn’t help but make it about him.
As President Obama wrapped up his conversation with Chris Matthews at American University, he took a swipe at the partisan media for dividing the country and making compromise more difficult. Obama said being the Commander-in-Chief for so long “makes you humbler, as opposed to cockier,” and compared himself to Sisyphus, rolling the boulder up the hill for eternity with little success. He spoke of how enthusiastic young people encourage him and give him confidence, only for the media to take that enthusiasm and use it to divide people. “The American people are good and they are decent, and yes, sometimes
Chris Matthews got his long-desired wish on Thursday, an exclusive interview with Barack Obama. The Hardball anchor didn´t exactly live up to the title of his show, wondering about Republican efforts to "make it difficult for minorities to vote" and questioning who was better, Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden? Talking to the President at American University, Matthews read a question from Twitter: "What can we do to stop the GOP, the Republicans, from rigging the states, rigging the votes, state by state, to disenfranchise voters and destroy our democracy?" The host added, "Thirty six states right now led by Republican
Wednesday night, MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews announced that his interview with the president, which is scheduled for today, gave him "the Christmas Eve excitement." Outside the left-wing fever swamp of MSNBC, Matthews is perhaps most famous to the American people for his 2008 comment about how an Obama speech put a "thrill up his leg." In his latest campaign effort to rehabilitate his sinking presidency and health care law, President Obama will sit down with Matthews this afternoon in front of a group of college students. The audience is no accident. Obama desperately needs healthy Millennials to be stupid
Rep. George Holding (R-N.C.) has proposed legislation that would require federal officials and others who use ObamaCare data to commit identify theft to serve a five-year prison term. His No Identify Theft in Health Care Act, H.R. 3652, is yet another response to the troubled ObamaCare rollout. Over the last week, reports have surfaced quoting computer security experts who said HealthCare.gov has virtually no data security measures in place. Under Holding´s bill, healthcare "navigators" or anyone else guilty of using ObamaCare data for an identify theft scheme would face prison time. Many bills amending criminal statutes set maximum prison sentences,
A new Gallup poll has President Obama’s job approval rating among Hispanics has declined 23 points since the end of last year. The drop is the largest of any subgroup surveyed and about double the decline for all respondents. Obama’s approval rating with Hispanics in November 2013 is 52 percent. In December 2012 it was 75 percent, down 23 points in 12 months. The president’s overall approval rating was 41 percent in November 2013, down from 53 percent in November of 2012.
Did you hear the one about the U.S. Post Office and the Statue of Liberty? So the Postal Service decides to issue a stamp commemorating perhaps the single most iconic image around the world representing the United States of America, the country that the post office serves so faithfully — rain, snow, or shine. (Photo)They get a nice picture of Lady Liberty, her greenish copper gaze across New York Harbor welcoming the masses to a new land of hope and promise and opportunity. They print it up First Class at the rate of “Forever,” as in a timeless promise that
Nobody is coming for your guns, they said. Nobody is taking away your rights, they said. This is all about public safety, they said. Nearly a year ago, the New York legislature passed the toughest gun control law in the country known as the S.A.F.E. Act. It was rushed through in the middle of the night and as soon as it landed on Governor Cuomo´s desk, he signed it without asking questions. Now, local and state government are taking the opportunity to crack down on regulations already on the books which means for many, turn in your guns or leave.
An academic was the first to cross the invisible line. “The ultimate check on presidential lawlessness is elections and, in extreme cases, impeachment,” Georgetown law professor Nicholas Rosenkranz told Representative Darrell Issa at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday on the president’s duty to uphold the law. With that first mention of the “i word,” leaks began springing from the dam that had been holding back the House GOP lawmakers united by frustration with President Obama’s executive abuses. Republicans have been watching impotently as Obama has walked all over the law, with increasing brazenness the further he gets into his tenure.
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
Continued global warming poses a risk of rapid, drastic changes in some human and natural systems, a scientific panel warned Tuesday, citing the possible collapse of polar sea ice, the potential for a mass extinction of plant and animal life and the threat of immense dead zones in the ocean. At the same time, some worst-case fears about climate change that have entered the popular imagination can be ruled out as unlikely, at least over the next century, the panel found. These include a sudden belch of methane from the ocean or the Arctic that would fry the planet, as
America is facing a wave of strikes by its fast-food workers on Thursday a day after Barack Obama warned that inequality in the USA had soared to the point that it now posed "a fundamental threat to the American dream". Low-paid workers in McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and other fast-food outlets in 100 cities across America were due to start rolling strikes to protest at the low level of America´s $7.25 (£4.45) federal minimum wage. The strikes are the latest part of a mushrooming publicity campaign for higher wages among those working so-called "McJobs", with fast-food restaurants seen as a
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
The president put in his ask to Disney CEO Bob Iger at a private meeting with entertainment moguls during his Nov. 26 visit to Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation. [snip] If you have any doubt as to how much of a sports junkie Barack Obama is, check in with the entertainment moguls who attended a private briefing with the president Nov. 26 before his speech at Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale. At the end of the conversation -- which touched on a myriad of topics, from piracy to Iran -- Obama revealed what´s at the top of his bucket
