Unease at Clinton Foundation
Over Finances and Ambitions

New York Times, by Nicholas Confessore and Amy Chozick

Soon after the 10th anniversary of the foundation bearing his name, Bill Clinton met with a small group of aides and two lawyers from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Two weeks of interviews with Clinton Foundation executives and former employees had led the lawyers to some unsettling conclusions. The review echoed criticism of Mr. Clinton’s early years in the White House: For all of its successes, the Clinton Foundation had become a sprawling concern, supervised by a rotating board of old Clinton hands, vulnerable to distraction and

2 things

Clintons know they have abused the foundation vehicle and launched pre-emptive review with goal of cleaning up the worst abuses and teeing up a "narrative" for their favorite sycophants in the press to prepare the lofo´s for the bad news and then dismiss it as "old news." Fraud, cronyism, criminal behavior, stealing, lying, influence pedaling..all the tried and true tricks of the grifters´ trade.

Second, there are lots of others who want the nomination and they have friends who caught wind of the results of the review and have their own moles.

You can be sure the NYT broke the story because someone else is coming with a bigger one. They may have faced accusations of trying to bury the bad news had they ot jumped ahead of the other parties with access to the gory details.

In light of that, why would we be shocked at the possibility of them skimming off the top of their charitable foundation? Those two skunks have never changed their stripe.

The east coast liberal establishment, especially the Kennedy wing, were never in love with the Clintons the way they are in love with Obama. They defended them when the Clintons were under attack from Republicans but otherwise considered them rubes on the make. One editor of a magazine only east coast liberals read mused in the mid 90s that Bill Clinton´s presidency could be liken to a fat pinata that spewed out goodies to whomever whacked him the hardest. I suspect these types have several names in mind for 2016 other than Hillary Clinton.

In this very forum, years ago, I pointed out that the Clinton Foundation was #1)a tax avoidance scheme #2)influence peddling scheme #3)money laudering scheme.

It has functioned during the Obama years as a shadow/parallel DNC, keeping political operatives employed, raising money, and maintaining donor lists for a time when the Dark Lord would rise again.

This has been obvious from day one. It has also served as a vehicle to "cleanse" the Clinton legacy (which will always remain "the stain on the little blue dress"), and purchase a Nobel Peace Prize for Bill. That, and getting Hillary elected President will represent Bill´s resurrection and proof that his impeachment was nothing but "a vast right wing conspiracy"

I cannot sufficiently convey the abject horror I have at the thought of the Clinton´s in the White House again. The Democrats are exhausting me with their relentless efforts to recreate the Soviet Union...

If Hillary is elected President, every other ambitious Democrat may have to wait until 20 January 2025 for their turn. As long as she´s a viable candidate, she sucks all the oxygen out of the room, so to speak, as far as raising campaign funds and recruiting personnel are concerned. Don´t underestimate how many Democrats want her out of the way for those reasons alone. Plus, she really is toxic for down-ticket candidates. I suspect it´s been Democrats behind the scenes knocking Hillary´s ally Anthony Weiner out of the NY Mayoral race, and making sure Benghazi revelations keep drip-drip-dripping out.

Here’s a thought for the day: Most people are “nice”, but Christians should be nice with a purpose. I am not a fan of the sitcom Rev, which depicts a vicar trying to be kind to his parishioners – with hilarious consequences. His congregation is small, full of delinquents, and the eponymous clergymen is often driven to drink by their unholy antics. Justin Welby disagrees with the show’s depiction of Anglican life because he notes that many churches are growing. The Rev’s, by contrast, conforms to a self-lacerating vision of Christianity as nice but niche. But self-laceration is the stock-in-trade of the

Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu, in a neck-and-neck race for re-election, is taking a lot of criticism over a new ad -- her first this season -- depicting herself taking on "Washington" to protect the interests of Louisiana´s oil and gas industry. What Landrieu did to invite the ridicule was to re-create for her ad producers her own performance in a Senate hearing -- complete with set, supporting cast, fake nameplate, and even phony news chyrons -- to show her standing up for her state. The unspoken message of the ad -- something Landrieu could never say directly -- is that

Last week, the president’s lap dog blew his dog whistle. In case you didn’t know, in politics a “dog whistle” is coded language that has a superficial meaning for everybody, but also a special resonance for certain constituencies. Using dog whistles lets politicians deny they meant to say anything nasty, bigoted, or controversial. Speaking to the National Action Network the day after a testy but racially irrelevant exchange with Republican members of a House panel, Attorney General Eric Holder said, “The last five years have been defined . . . by lasting reforms even in the face of unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly,

The administration’s “smart diplomacy” does not include providing aid to those who fight internal oppression or outside aggression and whose victory potentially would obviate the need for direct U.S. action. Hence, President Obama gave Iran’s Green Revolution the cold shoulder in June 2009. He denied aid, and then dragged his feet on delivering aid to non-jihadi rebels in Syria. Now, it should come as no surprise, he is unwilling to provide Ukraine with military aid or intelligence to defend itself against Russian aggression.

Which made us wonder who inspired the current Congress to seek office. The answer? Two Republican stalwarts. There are a lot of caveats that should be applied to the Times story, not the least of which is that most candidates for office tend to skew a little older than the 18-year-olds that cast their first votes six years ago. But regardless, Jason Horowitz writes, "[u]nlike John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan,

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive
