Soon after the 10th anniversary of the foundation bearing his name, Bill Clinton met with a small group of aides and two lawyers from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Two weeks of interviews with Clinton Foundation executives and former employees had led the lawyers to some unsettling conclusions. The review echoed criticism of Mr. Clinton’s early years in the White House: For all of its successes, the Clinton Foundation had become a sprawling concern, supervised by a rotating board of old Clinton hands, vulnerable to distraction and
Clintons know they have abused the foundation vehicle and launched pre-emptive review with goal of cleaning up the worst abuses and teeing up a "narrative" for their favorite sycophants in the press to prepare the lofo´s for the bad news and then dismiss it as "old news." Fraud, cronyism, criminal behavior, stealing, lying, influence pedaling..all the tried and true tricks of the grifters´ trade.
Second, there are lots of others who want the nomination and they have friends who caught wind of the results of the review and have their own moles.
You can be sure the NYT broke the story because someone else is coming with a bigger one. They may have faced accusations of trying to bury the bad news had they ot jumped ahead of the other parties with access to the gory details.
Times site is up and down with traffic that´s crashing it. Be patient. This piece will show up eventually. In the meantime the Telegraph article is posted further down the page and will give you the idea.
Should any prosecutors decide to look into this `foundation`, their conclusion will be `no irregularities found`. If John Corzine skated scott free after stealing 1.5 billion then surely an ex democrat president will also. You can bet bogus excuses are being formulated just about now.
How much money flows from the Foundation to the family, directly or indirectly, or to any related entity, like a political pac ? That must be disclosed in order for the Foundation to keep its tax exempt status. Oh, wait, it The IRS who makes these determinations. Well, just forget I mentioned it.
Being the cynic that I am when it relates to Democrats, I wonder if 0bama or some other powerful Democrat is behind digging up this "dirt." I could access the article and the headline sounds more ominous than what is actually provided in the article. Democrats have exhibited far worse behavior than this. Does 0bama and other high muckety-mucks in the party already have a "chosen one" that is not Clinton and this is done to undermine her early on? Inquiring minds want to know.
We know what a kind heart the Clinton grifters have, can it be that they are paying off the National Debt with their ill begotten gazillions? Just a thought!@ You know I am kidding, the Clinton dame had the Secret Service pay for her toothpaste, etc.....they consider it their ´right´ that you should pay....I assume the money might be in some Swiss bank account for Chelsea and her presidential campaign!
This shouldn´t surprise anyone. Billary looted the White House when they moved out in 2001 and had their goons vandalize what they left behind. In light of that, why would we be shocked at the possibility of them skimming off the top of their charitable foundation? Those two skunks have never changed their stripe.
The east coast liberal establishment, especially the Kennedy wing, were never in love with the Clintons the way they are in love with Obama. They defended them when the Clintons were under attack from Republicans but otherwise considered them rubes on the make. One editor of a magazine only east coast liberals read mused in the mid 90s that Bill Clinton´s presidency could be liken to a fat pinata that spewed out goodies to whomever whacked him the hardest. I suspect these types have several names in mind for 2016 other than Hillary Clinton.
In this very forum, years ago, I pointed out that the Clinton Foundation was #1)a tax avoidance scheme #2)influence peddling scheme #3)money laudering scheme.
It has functioned during the Obama years as a shadow/parallel DNC, keeping political operatives employed, raising money, and maintaining donor lists for a time when the Dark Lord would rise again.
This has been obvious from day one. It has also served as a vehicle to "cleanse" the Clinton legacy (which will always remain "the stain on the little blue dress"), and purchase a Nobel Peace Prize for Bill. That, and getting Hillary elected President will represent Bill´s resurrection and proof that his impeachment was nothing but "a vast right wing conspiracy"
I cannot sufficiently convey the abject horror I have at the thought of the Clinton´s in the White House again. The Democrats are exhausting me with their relentless efforts to recreate the Soviet Union...
The historical account of these massive criminal enterprises embedded within criminal enterprises will run into the dozens of pulp volumes. Third-rate "universities" will peddle dozens of Master´s degrees based upon the myriad frauds contained therein. And Clinton´s spawn will profit mightily unto the latest generation. Is this a great country or what?
No. 38, I am with you. I can´t convey my contempt for the current pig in the WH. But the thought of PIAPS makes my ice cream curdle. Although the current pig is mean and corrupt, SHE is evil and corrupt. Subtle semantics, I agree. But noteworthy, nonetheless.
Did someone say this was a devastating article? I listened to Rush today and he said it was a pretty tough article. Well, I beg to disagree with El Rushbo. If this is considered a tough article on the PIAPS and the Bent One and the Spawn, then standards for what qualifies as a critical or devastating article have been substantially reduced. So, okay it wasn´t a typical puff piece, but there is nothing to see here.
CGI and Teneo are as corrupt as the Clintons, so what else is new? PIAPS has way more to answer for in her disgusting role in Benghazi. We are about to see the press cover, slobber, and lie, cheat and steal for the first female (?) president, PIAPS.
If Hillary is elected President, every other ambitious Democrat may have to wait until 20 January 2025 for their turn. As long as she´s a viable candidate, she sucks all the oxygen out of the room, so to speak, as far as raising campaign funds and recruiting personnel are concerned. Don´t underestimate how many Democrats want her out of the way for those reasons alone. Plus, she really is toxic for down-ticket candidates. I suspect it´s been Democrats behind the scenes knocking Hillary´s ally Anthony Weiner out of the NY Mayoral race, and making sure Benghazi revelations keep drip-drip-dripping out.
The New York Times reports Thursday morning that President Obama will use his pardoning powers to commute the sentences of eight federal inmates convicted of crack cocaine offenses. Each of the inmates has reportedly been imprisoned for at least 15 years, with six of them being sentenced to life terms. This marks the first time Obama has used his powers of constitutional clemency of crack cocaine offenders who’d have seen reduced sentences anyhow under the 2011 law that significantly lowered the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses. “If they had been sentenced under the current law, many of them would
Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been suspended from the reality program but his fans are taking action. A&E suspended Robertson following remarks he made in the January issue of GQ magazine where he says homosexuality is a sin along with bestiality and promiscuity. Fans have turned to the social media to oppose the suspension, there are at least seven variations of “Bring Back Phil Robertson” pages on Facebook. The most popular among them had 300,000 likes as of early Thursday morning. The leading “Bring Back Phil Robertson” Facebook page features a link to a Change.org petition calling on A&E networks to
On Wednesday, Jonah Goldberg, National Review Online editor-at-large, joined Fox News Channel’s Bill Hemmer to discuss the White House announcing recently that a former Microsoft executive will take over as the person in charge of overseeing repairs to the Affordable Care Act’s federal health insurance exchange website. Goldberg observed that the roll-out of the ACA has been such a failure that, according to polls, even the uninsured are turning on the program. “It’s like people who go to a soup kitchen and they don’t like the soup,” he said. “The problem is that it’s a smart move after a very
The A&E network has suspended Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, for perceived anti-gay remarks in a recent GQ interview. While discussing God, sin, and repentence, Robertson was asked what he found to be sinful: "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," he says. "Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men…Don´t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won´t inherit the kingdom of God. Don´t deceive yourself. It´s not right. The reaction from
The British tabloid News of the World hacked Kate Middleton´s phone while she was dating Prince William, a prosecutor told a London court Thursday in a trial of the defunct newspaper´s executives, according to the British Press Association. In one voicemail message that William left Kate -- the transcript of which was read in court by the prosecutor -- the prince calls his future wife "Babykins" and says he was almost shot by blank rounds during a military training exercise, the PA reported. The date of the message wasn´t immediately clear, though the couple weren´t yet married at the time, the PA
Ted Cruz stood on the floor of the Senate and answered his critics: “….do you expect me to remain here silent, or to shrink from the discharge of my duty?… I will speak in spite of all the intimidations, or threats, or discountenances that may be thrown upon me.” Actually, Ted Cruz did not say that. But the fact that it is so easily believable that he did say it says exactly why Ted Cruz, Time magazine’s selection of the Pope notwithstanding, is the real “Man of the Year.” In fact, while Cruz did make Time’s shortlist, he also popped up
If you write about American politics for a living, stop right there. Get back to work, and don’t read another damn word. Sign out of Twitter, say “thanks but no thanks” to a dayside cable hit, get off your ass, go outside and listen to folks beyond the same 200 know-it-alls in Washington and New York who share your affinity for snark, views on Game of Thrones and predictions for next year’s Senate race in a state only a handful of you have ever set foot in. The 140-character slap-fight you’re in the middle of with another reporter who has never worked
"Top journalists from The New York Times, NBC News and CNN acknowledged Wednesday that, generally speaking, the national media has a liberal bias," Politico´s media reporter Dylan Byers noted in a December 18 post recapping a Politico Playbook breakfast discussion held earlier on Wednesday morning. More than one panelist opined that it´s not just that journalists tend to be liberal on policy questions but that they live and work in environments which are socially liberal. "I live in northwest Washington, none of my neighbors are evangelical Christians [and] I don´t know a lot of people in my kid´s preschool who are
NEW YORK -A breach of credit and debit card data at discount retailer Target may have affected as many as 40 million shoppers who went to the store in the three weeks after Thanksgiving, the retailer said Thursday. Late Wednesday, the Secret Service, which is charged with safeguard the nation´s financial infrastructure and payment systems, confirmed it was investigating the breach.
Congratulations are in order for Elie Wisel for his advertisement calling on Congress to strengthen sanctions on Iran. The ad doesn’t go as far as the Sun would go, in that it wants President Obama and Congress to demand “as a condition of continued talks” the “total dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and the regime’s public and complete repudiation of all genocidal intent against Israel.” We oppose negotiations with the mullahs outright, preferring instead a strategic aim of regime change and democratization. But the statement by Mr. Wiesel, and the highly public way in which he is making it, are
As India continues to bristle over allegations of mistreatment of one of its diplomats in the U.S., American authorities prosecuting the case are asking a different question: Why is no one bothered about the maid who brought the case and alleged she was underpaid and overworked? Devyani Khobragade is accused of submitting false documents to obtain a U.S. visa for her domestic help, Sangeeta Richard, before starting her job as a deputy consul general at the Indian Embassy in New York in November 2012. Ms. Khobragade was arrested last week after her help alleged she was paid below the minimum wage
As this confusing year wends to an end, it is hard not to wonder what has happened to the underlying, continuous, almost immutable national interest of the United States. When George Washington declined the advice of his aides and supporters to seize the government of the country, and instead handed over control of the Continental Army in 1783, he charged the Continental Congress with the task of preserving an “indissoluble Union,” of protecting the independence and territorial integrity the new country had just achieved after seven years of struggle, and of endowing it with a trustworthy currency. Washington had no confidence
Is this man simply expressing his beliefs or spewing bigotry?Either way, Phil Robertson, the patriarch in A&E´s "Duck Dynasty," won´t be duck calling on air anytime soon. The network suspended him after slamming gays in a magazine interview. In the January issue of GQ, Robertson said homosexuality is a sin and puts it in the same category as bestiality and promiscuity. "It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man´s anus. That´s just me. I´m just thinking: There´s more there! She´s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know
A&E broke its silence on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments late Wednesday. The cable network announced Robertson is off the hit show for the time being. The network issued the following statement to EW: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
President Barack Obama sent Russia a clear message about its treatment of gays and lesbians with who he is — and isn’t — sending to represent the United States at the Sochi Olympics. Billie Jean King will be one of two openly gay athletes in the U.S. delegation for the opening and closing ceremonies, Obama announced Tuesday. For the first time since 2000, however, the U.S. will not send a president, former president, first lady or vice president to the Games. Russia has come under fierce criticism for passing national laws banning “gay propaganda.” Though the White House did not specifically address
The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD is slamming ´Duck Dynasty´ patriarch Phil Robertson for comments he made about homosexuality to GQ magazine, and challenging the show´s network, A&E, to take action against its most popular star. In a wide-ranging interview, Robertson shared his thoughts on homosexuality and religion. After stating in very graphic terms his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex, Robertson launched into more thoughts about homosexuality and sinning. “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said.
Yes, she really said it. On CNN’s Piers Morgan Live Tuesday, in a brief discussion about President Obama, Barbara Walters actually said, “We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn´t say this at Christmastime, but - the next messiah” (video follows with transcript and commentary): PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?
Everyone is doing thoughtful year-end pieces on President Obama. Writers and reporters agree he’s had his worst year ever. I infer from most of their essays an unstated but broadly held sense of foreboding: There’s no particular reason to believe next year will be better, and in fact signs and indications point to continued trouble. I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management. One reason I worry is that I frequently speak with people who interact with the White
O ne year removed from re-election, President Obama´s approval rating has sunk to the lowest level of his presidency. Furthermore, Obama´s popularity among the Democratic Party base — whose rejuvenated support proved crucial last November — took a huge hit this past year. Only 54 percent of self-described liberals "very strongly" approve of Obama´s job performance, according to a Pew survey released this week. That´s down from an all-time high of nearly 90 percent, and a significant decline from the 73 percent who strongly approved of the president back in June. Why the steep drop? Well, the first year of Obama´s second term
John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he´s already ruffling Republican feathers. In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama´s White House team faces.
Hours after we reported that Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson dropped some illogical “logic” on homosexuality during his GQ interview, his home network A&E decided to indefinitely suspend him from the show. While Robertson’s comments were hilariously ignorant, they were predictable — especially given his family’s socially-conservative, Bible-loving image. Suspending the lead character for his wholly predictable comments is not only an overreaction but a gross misstep. To recap: The Duck Commander patriarch remarked to the men’s magazine that homosexuality is on par with bestiality, and used fifth-grade “logic” to imply that homosexual men should give up their ways of choosing a
The U.S. Army War College, which molds future field generals, has begun discussing whether it should remove its portraits of Confederate generals — including those of Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Nestled in rural Pennsylvania on the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks, the war college is conducting an inventory of all its paintings and photographs with an eye for rehanging them in historical themes to tell a particular Army story. During the inventory, an unidentified official — not the commandant, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III — asked the administration why the college honors two generals who fought against the United States,
A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ. "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty," A&E said in a statement. "His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely." The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took some shots at his fellow Republicans during Tuesday’s Senate debate over the proposed bipartisan budget deal put together by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA). Joining the more moderate wing of the Republican Party, McCain declared his strong support for the deal and accused any members of the GOP who plan to vote against it of lacking “intellectual integrity.” McCain said he was supporting the bill for two reasons: One, to prevent the possibility of another government shutdown, and two, to alleviate the “devastating impact of sequestration on our military.” “The American people steadfastly
