James DiMaggio´s kidnapping of 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, whom was said to have a ´crush on,´ could be a horrific case of history repeating itself, it has been revealed. DiMaggio´s father, also named James DiMaggio, shockingly killed himself 18 years ago to the day that DiMaggio was shot dead by an FBI agent in the Idaho wilderness. Hannah was found safe and is expected to be reunited with her father today.(Snip) James DiMaggio Sr. was also infatuated with a 16-year-old girl - James Jr´s classmate - and resorted to violence when she refused to run away with him,

It should be noted that, several paragraphs down within the article, the Mail´s writers give credit for this story to KFMB-TV (San Diego) and link to that story. The Mail has picked it up and added photos.

Any comments about Hannah´s not appearing to be held against her will stem from the report by the person on horseback who came upon DiMaggio and Hannah camping in the wilderness area. Their opinion. No one knows what was going on.

We´ll hear the story soon. Patience.

She´s going to be surrounded by, and questioned [albeit in a "gentle" way in the beginning] by experienced LEOs. I suspect they will be able to pick up on just how truthful she´s being with them as to what she knows about San Diego and the death of her mother and brother.

Another article reports that she told a friend that she was uncomfortable around DiMaggio after he told her he had a crush on her, but she didn´t want to tell her mother.

Something doesn´t feel right about this whole thing.

Contrary to the Mail´s breathless headline, his father did not commit suicide until some time after the incident with the 16 year old, her boyfriend and another young person.

This is the kind of story that drives everyone to wild speculation, grasping at first info which often turns out to be either partially or entirely false.

OK. One more time:

One of the horseback riders who met Hannah Anderson and James Lee DiMaggio on Wednesday reported to police that he exchanged “casual pleasantries” with 40-year-old James Lee DiMaggio and 16-year-old Hannah Anderson but that there seemed to be no indication that Hannah was in distress or that she was being held against her will. The horseback rider did say that Hannah Anderson and James Lee DiMaggio “behaved oddly,” but that they gave no cause for alarm.

FWIW, at the time the sheriff supposedly said Hannah didn´t look as though she was being held against her will, he had not seen her. All he had was the report to law enforcement by the horseback rider who sighted Hannah and Di Maggio, went home, saw the news about an abduction that appeared to feature the same two persons, and called police.

Law enforcement didn´t see Hannah in person until she was rescued.

An eye-catching A.P. story, published Thursday, revealed that, in 2010, the United States Agency for International Development (U.S.A.I.D.) covertly deployed a social-media program in Cuba in the hope of bringing about a Cuban Spring. My first published column was in a local paper opposing the Equal Rights Amendment for the same reasons that Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative lawyer, campaigned on. As ambiguously written, the ERA, would eliminate the men-only draft requirement, repeal protective laws like sexual assault and eliminate the tendency for mothers to obtain custody over their children in divorce cases. Ironically, one of the arguments that helped sink the amendment from ratification was the fear that single-sex bathrooms would no longer be permitted. In addition, opponents of the amendment also warned that it would lead to abortion on demand and same-sex marriages.

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally
