Potential 2016 presidential contender Donald Trump spoke to ABC’s Jonathan Karl Sunday morning and reignited the birther issue that he helped spark back in 2011, questioning the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate and wondering whether Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, was eligible to president. “Was there a birth certificate?” Trump asked. “You tell me. Some people say that was not his birth certificate. I’m saying I don’t know. Nobody knows. And you don’t know, either, Jonathan. You’re a smart guy, you don’t know, either.” “I’m pretty convinced he was born in the United States,” Karl said.
Barky´s people never produced a single document expert who was willing to make the case for the ´Birth Cert.´ being valid. When skeptics produced and endless list of experts pointing and laughing at the amateurish and poorly forged document, the Left simply said "Shut up, go away, it´s settled science and you people are never satisfied."
The Media agreed that the matter was now settled even though the document was an obvious forgery.
I might be wrong, but I believe both of Cruz´s parents were American citizens at the time of his birth.
The Supreme Court should clear up what is meant by "natural born" citizen, but I suppose that any reasonable definition they could come up with would make Obama illegal...so they are waiting until he is out of office.
About the natural born deal, I was born overseas and my father (worked in U.S. embassies), mother were born in the U.S. He said if you´re born in the U.S., you are natural or native born, and you´re born overseas on U.S.-born Americans, you are naturalized, and can opt for citizenship in the country you were born in up to the age of 18, or by joining that country´s military. As for being born naturally, I suppose a test-tube baby is unnaturally born.
Neither Cruz or Rubio are NBC´s . Neither is Barry Soetoro . So none of these Politicians are qualified under the Constitution to hold the office. I like Cruz and think he can best serve the People in the Senate. But not in the White House. We can´t have it both ways. Soetoro is NOT a legal sitting POTUS. NOTHING he has signed in to Law is legal or binding. Lets just see how millions of stupid Americans like his OBAMACARE when its´ devastating consequences hits them in their Pocket Books.I bet the BIRTHER issue becomes the talk of the day then.
No, #6. SCOTUS is not authorized to "clear up" the Constitution. It assumed this power to itself in Marbury v Madison. They are only chartered to apply the law, not change it. Amendments, ratified by the states, are needed to properly "clear up" a few things like "natural born", anchor babies, equal protection, establishment of religion, right to bear arms, "general welfare", and the commerce clause. SCOTUS does not have the Constitutional authority, nor do they have a very good track record in clearing up such things. It´s a job for the states.
#1 That´s right. Lawlessness has become the new norm on every level. Whether it´s the bully in the classroom or with #44 POTUS or #42 POTUS. Same thing.
President Reagan ran much of his campaign on law and order back when we had organized crime and a serious drug problem. That was decades ago. Now you become a celebrity for committing a crime or singing about it. We´ve become complacent and apathetic and have allowed political correctness to supersede the rule of law. It will only get worse with all the uneducated, unemployed youth we are producing. Can you imagine the lawlessness that will ensue with Obamacare, especially managed by an incompetent government. The gravity of problems we face as a nation is enormous. And the other side thinks Hillary Rotten Clinton can run this country...maybe in the ground that´s for sure.
Barking up the wrong tree again, Trump, it is a doctored birth certificate but for the reason that Barack Obama no II (NOT Jr) is not the son of the Kenyan that they used to cover for his real father, Frank Marshall Davis, Jr Communist Community organizer in Hawaii who finally had to run as a democrat to achieve public office.
Also obaMao´s mentor, Mom sent the o-man to him via the grandfolk-white people maybe to keep him from becoming too religiously Muslim, like his step father.
ObaMao is somewhat culturally white and uses ALL aspects of his strange and mysteryous life to his advantage thanks to corrupt media.
When Obama was certified President, all prior laws were then considered null and void. Like it or not, he had a non-citizen father and was elected twice. So, this is the new normal and I say it works for BOTH parties. All democrats kept their mouths shut, now how about Republicans do likewise. We didn´t make the rule..but we can use it as well as democrats. Is Obama the only one who can say "the ends justify the means"? We have to fight fire with fire.
FRAUD is the biggest item on the BC controversy. It was FRAUDULENT for obama to present a document prepared in DC to prove he was legit.
Mike Zullo has just recently issued a 57 page affidavit to Judge Roy Moore (remember the 10 Commandments judge in GA.) outlining WHY the document produced and presented by obama is FRAUDULENT. This is the crux of the issue--Criminal - Felony. The action of Zullo and Arpaio´s Cold Case Posse has been quietly and methodically moving forward. There is still HOPE for CHANGE.
A legitimate citizen or not, Obama is a travesty as a President. He has broken so many laws that he could be impeached many times over. But a Democratic senate will never concur. My opinions. pS; Obama just personally ( verbally ) attacked the Russian President, thus creating Russia as an enemy, instead of working to meet with the man and discuss differences. Is THAT treasonous. ? How many foreign Countries that were U.S> allies are no longer our allies and taken that position since Obama became President because of his broken foreign policy. Is that treasonous? Just asking. In my opinion. we have a fool for a President who is creating enemies of the U>S> Worldwide.
1. The "issue" [though none exists] is not "birther," but "Constitutionalist." As George Washington said, the Constitution is binding on us all. 2. "Birth certificate" does not appear in the US Constitution. None is required to be legally eligible. 3. Supporting or opposing any candidate on the basis of birth certificates is of no use. Only the clear and long-known Constitutional requirements are relevant. 4. An American citizen is natural born if and only if both parents are American citizens from the time of the parents´ birth. Birth situs is immaterial for American citizenship [including being legal (if born elsewhere) or illegal (born here to illegal aliens)]. Matter closed. 5. #6: The Founders clearly established "natural born citizen via de Vattel, deliberations, and The Federalist´s recap. Unlike much current law, The Founders did not delegate the qualifications for President to any court. 6. #7: Cruz´s father not being an American citizen from birth means that he isn´t legally eligible. Obama is ineligible for the same reason. Closed. 7. #9, #10 -- good posts. #10: Much of the "clearing up" by courts as you know is spurious. The Founders were/are clear [if one is informed]. Later judges are typically just embedding their agendas into the law. 8. #17: there is an open question about whether Stinky´s mom could legally confer citizenship [at the time there was a combined age/US residency requirement]. However, it isn´t really worth investigating, as it is unquestioned that Obama´s father was a British subject. FMD may be dad, but for now that is a distraction.
Bob Bauer, Anita Dunn´s husband, has been the top lawyer in the b.c. fight. He is also the tip of the current IRS scandal iceberg regarding targeting Tea Party groups. A corrupt attorney to say the least. Remember, Anita Dunn bragged that they "controlled the narrarive (story)". What did she mean by that?
I just hope I live long enough to see the truth about the b.c revealed. Although I do not think it will be a surprise.
#4, don´t necessarily fall into the category you asked for a response from, but to answer your question about who isn´t considered a natural born citizen even though an American citizen, that´s easy: Anyone born when both their parents weren´t US citizens. Doesn´t matter if in CONUS or somewhere else. The second session of the first congress laid out the answer to the inverse of your question quite clearly in the minutes of the session. Which has been posted on this forum in the past.
For all the BO sympathizers - that must have been one packed delivery room when BO was hatched based on their "knowing" that he was born in Hawaii. The Birth Certificate produced by the Administration was a fake made with print technology that wasn´t even invented at the time and that´s a fact. His whole life is a fantasy and mistery.
Either President Obama needs a new speechwriter, or he needs a new set of economic policies. Actually, he needs both. Can anyone think of a more boring, banal, irrelevant, or stale speech than the one he gave this Thursday in Washington DC? The speech was allegedly on the economy, but more likely it was to divert attention from the Obamacare catastrophe. Whatever the motive, his idea that the defining challenge of our time is to reduce income inequality is completely wrong. In truth, the defining challenge is to restore more rapid economic growth, create substantially more jobs, and significantly reduce
President Obama on Thursday said that Republicans should be “embarrassed” that they have not done more on Capitol Hill, blaming them for Washington gridlock. “They´ve got to be embarrassed,” the president said in an interview on MSNBC’s "Hardball with Chris Matthews." “Because the truth of the matter is that they´ve now been in charge of the House of Representatives, one branch of, or one chamber in one branch of government, for a couple of years now and they just don´t have a lot to show for it.” Obama said that congressional Republicans were too fearful of offending their conservative base to
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
On Thursday, in the aftermath of South African iconic leader Nelson Mandela’s death at age 95, President Obama’s White House account tweeted a tribute to Mandela – a picture of Obama in Mandela’s Robben Island prison cell, along with a quote from Obama about Mandela: (Photo/Tweet) Even in paying tribute to a historic figure, President Obama couldn’t help but make it about him.
As President Obama wrapped up his conversation with Chris Matthews at American University, he took a swipe at the partisan media for dividing the country and making compromise more difficult. Obama said being the Commander-in-Chief for so long “makes you humbler, as opposed to cockier,” and compared himself to Sisyphus, rolling the boulder up the hill for eternity with little success. He spoke of how enthusiastic young people encourage him and give him confidence, only for the media to take that enthusiasm and use it to divide people. “The American people are good and they are decent, and yes, sometimes
Chris Matthews got his long-desired wish on Thursday, an exclusive interview with Barack Obama. The Hardball anchor didn´t exactly live up to the title of his show, wondering about Republican efforts to "make it difficult for minorities to vote" and questioning who was better, Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden? Talking to the President at American University, Matthews read a question from Twitter: "What can we do to stop the GOP, the Republicans, from rigging the states, rigging the votes, state by state, to disenfranchise voters and destroy our democracy?" The host added, "Thirty six states right now led by Republican
Wednesday night, MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews announced that his interview with the president, which is scheduled for today, gave him "the Christmas Eve excitement." Outside the left-wing fever swamp of MSNBC, Matthews is perhaps most famous to the American people for his 2008 comment about how an Obama speech put a "thrill up his leg." In his latest campaign effort to rehabilitate his sinking presidency and health care law, President Obama will sit down with Matthews this afternoon in front of a group of college students. The audience is no accident. Obama desperately needs healthy Millennials to be stupid
Rep. George Holding (R-N.C.) has proposed legislation that would require federal officials and others who use ObamaCare data to commit identify theft to serve a five-year prison term. His No Identify Theft in Health Care Act, H.R. 3652, is yet another response to the troubled ObamaCare rollout. Over the last week, reports have surfaced quoting computer security experts who said HealthCare.gov has virtually no data security measures in place. Under Holding´s bill, healthcare "navigators" or anyone else guilty of using ObamaCare data for an identify theft scheme would face prison time. Many bills amending criminal statutes set maximum prison sentences,
A new Gallup poll has President Obama’s job approval rating among Hispanics has declined 23 points since the end of last year. The drop is the largest of any subgroup surveyed and about double the decline for all respondents. Obama’s approval rating with Hispanics in November 2013 is 52 percent. In December 2012 it was 75 percent, down 23 points in 12 months. The president’s overall approval rating was 41 percent in November 2013, down from 53 percent in November of 2012.
Did you hear the one about the U.S. Post Office and the Statue of Liberty? So the Postal Service decides to issue a stamp commemorating perhaps the single most iconic image around the world representing the United States of America, the country that the post office serves so faithfully — rain, snow, or shine. (Photo)They get a nice picture of Lady Liberty, her greenish copper gaze across New York Harbor welcoming the masses to a new land of hope and promise and opportunity. They print it up First Class at the rate of “Forever,” as in a timeless promise that
Nobody is coming for your guns, they said. Nobody is taking away your rights, they said. This is all about public safety, they said. Nearly a year ago, the New York legislature passed the toughest gun control law in the country known as the S.A.F.E. Act. It was rushed through in the middle of the night and as soon as it landed on Governor Cuomo´s desk, he signed it without asking questions. Now, local and state government are taking the opportunity to crack down on regulations already on the books which means for many, turn in your guns or leave.
An academic was the first to cross the invisible line. “The ultimate check on presidential lawlessness is elections and, in extreme cases, impeachment,” Georgetown law professor Nicholas Rosenkranz told Representative Darrell Issa at a House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday on the president’s duty to uphold the law. With that first mention of the “i word,” leaks began springing from the dam that had been holding back the House GOP lawmakers united by frustration with President Obama’s executive abuses. Republicans have been watching impotently as Obama has walked all over the law, with increasing brazenness the further he gets into his tenure.
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
Continued global warming poses a risk of rapid, drastic changes in some human and natural systems, a scientific panel warned Tuesday, citing the possible collapse of polar sea ice, the potential for a mass extinction of plant and animal life and the threat of immense dead zones in the ocean. At the same time, some worst-case fears about climate change that have entered the popular imagination can be ruled out as unlikely, at least over the next century, the panel found. These include a sudden belch of methane from the ocean or the Arctic that would fry the planet, as
America is facing a wave of strikes by its fast-food workers on Thursday a day after Barack Obama warned that inequality in the USA had soared to the point that it now posed "a fundamental threat to the American dream". Low-paid workers in McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and other fast-food outlets in 100 cities across America were due to start rolling strikes to protest at the low level of America´s $7.25 (£4.45) federal minimum wage. The strikes are the latest part of a mushrooming publicity campaign for higher wages among those working so-called "McJobs", with fast-food restaurants seen as a
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
The president put in his ask to Disney CEO Bob Iger at a private meeting with entertainment moguls during his Nov. 26 visit to Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation. [snip] If you have any doubt as to how much of a sports junkie Barack Obama is, check in with the entertainment moguls who attended a private briefing with the president Nov. 26 before his speech at Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale. At the end of the conversation -- which touched on a myriad of topics, from piracy to Iran -- Obama revealed what´s at the top of his bucket
