Obamas dine at posh DC
restaurant for president´s birthday

The Hill (Washington DC), by Emily Goodin

Original Article

President Obama and Michelle Obama had a date night Thursday in honor of the president´s birthday. The couple dined at Rasika West End on New Hampshire Avenue, according to a White House pool report. No word on what they ordered at the posh Indian restaurant, although there are plenty of options that would make the first lady, an advocate for healthy eating, happy. Rasika is known for its palak chaat — a crispy spinach appetizer. Obama turned 52 on Sunday. He golfed on Saturday at Andrews Air Force Base and spent Sunday at Camp David.

Truly, under this regime the rich have gotten very, very wealthy while the working middle class has lost wealth, not stayed the same, not gained, but lost wealthy.

As we are wont to say, imagine Pres. Bush or his wife doing something like this.

The kind of obscene spending by the Os doesn´t offend the Hollywoodized media.

How many chefs are employed in the White House? I would think ‘eating in’ would have a whole different meaning for these two cretins.

It’s been a long time since Johnny Carson slept in the tiny upstairs room in the modest little house at 306 S. 13th St. in Norfolk. Carson was born in Iowa and moved to Norfolk with his family in the 1930s. They lived in at least one other house in Norfolk before moving into to the white, wood-frame structure on 13th Street. Built in the 1920s, the house featured a small kitchen, dining room and living room on the main floor, while the second floor contained a bathroom, several bedrooms and an enclosed porch. With concrete walls and floor, the

Buried deep on the website of the U.S. Census Bureau is a number every American citizen, and especially those entrusted with public office, should know. It is 86,429,000. That is the number of Americans who in 2012 got up every morning and went to work — in the private sector — and did it week after week after week. These are the people who built America, and these are the people who can sustain it as a free country. Former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman advised the White House on how President Obama should announce his support for gay marriage. A Harvard classmate of Obama’s, Mehlman told the president over a White House lunch that it was politically viable to reverse his position and support gay marriage, according to a report in The New York Times. Mehlman, who managed George W. Bush’s reelection campaign and came out as gay in 2010, told Obama that the American public viewed him as an idealist willing to put politics aside, and that endorsing same-sex marriage would reinforce that image. Josh Romney took a quick potshot at Sen. Harry Reid this week with a Twitter post of his famous father, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, standing in line to pay his taxes. The tweet included the text: “Hey @SenatorReid here’s a shot of @MittRomney paying taxes. Does it every year. It’s how you get your paycheck.” The back story is that Mr. Reid insisted during the last presidential campaign that Mr. Romney was a tax dodger who sent his money to offshore accounts — even when that claim was proven untrue. Mr. Reid’s exact words, as reported by The Hill:

Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu is facing criticism after she reenacted a Senate hearing for a campaign ad -- while also fixing a flub from her original remarks. Landrieu’s ad, titled “Will Not Rest,” appears at first glance to feature footage of the senator passionately arguing for increased oil and gas revenue sharing during a Hill hearing. Landrieu’s campaign described the ad in a press release as highlighting the Louisiana senator´s “efforts to stand up to the administration in order to fight for Louisiana, and protect and strengthen our energy industry that supports 300,000 high-paying jobs.” The ad features various clips of

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
