Is this seriously the best modern
feminism can do? Nipples,

Telegraph [UK], by Dan Hodges

This morning Suzanne Moore has written a typically pugnacious piece in the Guardian attacking what she calls “the anti-feminist backlash”. According to Suzanne, the “Right-wing establishment and its lackeys” are launching a “pre-emptive strike” on the feminist movement. Examples of these lackeys range from Liam Gallagher, through to our own James Delingpole and Toby Young, to Iain Duncan Smith. Even poor old Nick Clegg gets a good shellacking. “Women haven´t won,” she writes, “we are losing our hard-won rights. [Snip] But Suzanne Moore is wrong on one very important point: men aren’t cowed by modern feminism, we’re laughing at

I gave up on feminism when it became a one-issue movement: all abortion, all the time.

misogynist
anti-Semite
sexist
racist
homophobe
tea bagger
etc

Since the 1970s words like these have had the power to put conservatives and traditionalists on immediate defense in any debate. Calling ideological foes racist had the power to put Barack Antiochus Epiphanes Obama into the White House twice.

The Left still use those labels to control the Right (usually to proclaim their own victory in a fight, whether they actually win or not). But all verbal weapons lose their edge over time. And sexist has been overused for so long that it´s losing its ability to beat the Right into docility.

I have a response when someone tries to tag me with "teabagger". I ask, oh how did you know about that word, did you learn it at your father´s knee? Stops them cold, so far.

I have a few other comebacks as well but I won´t repeat them. I like being a member here.

It´s too bad that the author failed to note that Britain´s feminists loathed the one woman who made it to the top. Remember the behavior of leftists when Maggie died last year? No different from the treatment Sara Palin receives here today. According to feminists ALL women who are not leftists are not really women.

I have a few of those well-practiced comebacks that I´ve had to use on my SIL from time to time. She & I parted company when she became militant after she took "Women´s Studies" classes. Suddenly, she would interrupt some innocent remark to lecture me or whoever, about my innate sexism/racism/homophobia of whatever the current flavor of the week was. It has caused a lot of uncomfortable situations at family get-togethers, because more than once I´ve told her off & my brother jumps down MY throat for being "mean" to her. Now not only are she & I distant, but I´m becoming estranged from him, too. I´m convinced that feminism was invented to cause family disruption in more ways than one (abortion).

#8, if ya gotta, ya gotta. Time and studying history have led me to conclude that radicals exploit gentility and the "for the sake of family unity" urge to advance their own ends. I suspect a pull-of-the-pin and "bugger off" hits them almost as hard as a forceful comeback.

The political Twittersphere erupted into guffaws Saturday after a women´s lifestyle magazine published a soft profile of ABC journalist Claire Shipman--the wife of White House Press Secretary Jay Carney--and applied ham-fisted Photoshop edits to a photo of the family bookshelf. Now it´s not so empty. [Snip] A dozen or more cut-and-paste operations later, 12-year-old Hugo Carney´s left pinky finger wound up halfway across the room, left behind when a book jacket was cloned. The percentage of family doctors supporting the UK Independence Party has surged from 0.3 percent at the last general election to a new high of 7.3 percent, almost double the amount planning to vote Liberal Democrat. The figures, compiled by GP magazine, also show a sharp decline in Conservative support. Labour are now the most popular party among GPs, although they still only have 18.4 percent support. This may

The UK Independence Party (UKIP) has hit a record high ComRes poll rating, as the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties both drop points. UKIP is now polling at 20 percent, while Britain´s traditional third party, the Liberal Democrats, have sunk to just 7. The Independent on Sunday and Sunday Mirror poll shows Labour (35 percent) increasing its lead to six points over the Conservative Party (29 percent), with the libertarian, small-government UKIP hot on the heels of Cameron´s party following the resignation of cabinet minister Maria Miller last week. The poll results also reflect the two debate victories that UKIP leader Nigel

The widow of Apple Computer founder Steve Jobs is ´ready´ for Hillary Clinton, and she´s written a hefty check to prove it. Laurene Powell Jobs has given $25,000 to the ´Ready for Hillary´ super PAC, a political campaign organization that has raised more than $4 million to lay the groundwork needed for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton´s expected White House run. Sharon Elghanayan Corzine, the wife of former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, also put $25,000 on the table. So did gay-rights philanthropist Tim Gill, who created the one-time desktop publishing software powerhouse Quark Xpress.

Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
