Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream. Survey data exclusive to The Associated Press points to an increasingly globalized U.S. economy, the widening gap between rich and poor and loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs as reasons for the trend. The findings come as President Barack Obama tries to renew his administration´s emphasis on the economy,

I do not believe it. Remember when liberals were citing a study indicating 75% of US citizens were "near homeless"? It turned out they were counting anyone who had ever in his or her life worried about losing an apartment or having to move out of Mom and Dad´s home.

If a white American, with only a high school education, gets a job at a corporation (like Publix, for example) they will never advance past stockman unless they live in Montana or Alaska. Job advancement is saved for Latinos, blacks, some women (if she´s black it´s a two fer). The government is watching closely and these corporations want it off their back.

Well, I´m not sure this is news. Thomas Sowell has been writing for twenty years how people´s situations often change, and that means often dip down for just a year or two. Hey back around 2002 I was out of work for over a year, and it wasn´t voluntary, exactly, but neither was I starving, nor did I take a dollar from the government.

Still, yes, I also believe it is getting worse, far worse. Look at the food stamp numbers. The problem is 10,000,000 jobs shipped to China, and 15,000,000 illegal aliens, not to mention 1,000,000 H-1Bs brought here on purpose. It´s not complicated. But is anybody in Washington paying attention? Sure doesn´t look like it to me. Kids today graduating high school and college, have it much tougher than I did.

But again, neither party is saying anything real about any of this.

You can`t bring socialism to an economy with a rich and growing middle class, you`ve got to ruin the economy, impoverish the middle class and put as many of them on the dole (income and services provided by the government, industries controlled by the government) as possible. When you get enough of them depending on the government for everything you can change over to socialism more smoothly. Alinsky showed way to do that and the Democrats are moving us down the path. After lots of conditioning in the schools we`re now stupid enough to whistle as we skip along as directed.

All this near-poverty among Americans, and the liberal Democrats along with some cheap labor Republicans are proposing an amnesty and special path to citizenship that would essentially grant an estimated 46 million foreign workers and their foreign family members complete access to the legal US job market in the next 10 years, where they could legally compete against American workers for just about any scarce job out there across the entire US economy.

Since those foreign workers are always willing to work cheaper then American workers, it is easy to see who will be taking the vast majority of blue collar American jobs in the next decade and it won´t be American workers. The American job market went through a big outsourcing era as millions of American jobs were moved to countries with very low wage rates. Now that job market may well see a massive in-sourcing of foreign workers to take the American jobs that for one reason or another that could not be outsourced.

All that is good for the liberal Democrats as it makes the growing out of work segment of the US population dependent upon all sorts of government social welfare benefits, payouts, and services to survive and that is the liberal Democrat´s forte.

This is pure Obamaganda spoon fed to the AP to scare people into supporting more government spending. You can´t spend more government money than in places like Deadtroit and Chicago and look where they´re at.
They´re pension liabilities are peanuts compared to Cal.yet Brown and the other leftists running the state, keep their foot on the spending gas peddle.

There´s tons of investment capital in this country with nothing to do.Under the right circumstances, that money could be cut loose and create real growth.

Under Obama ,we´re living in an artificial economy ,propped up with government borrowing and printing.

The stock market is hand wringing over the possibility of Bernake leaving. They really needn´t worry,Obama will put another candayman in his place.

Apparently the Lefty/lib/statist dem spinners at the AP have never heard of America´s concepts regarding each individual´s freedom in the Pursuit of Happiness, working to achieve & prepare for opportunities which come along and, much less, ´´upward mobility,´´ ...each of which is a basic principle of FREEDOM!!!

Our government has been sticking it to the economy for the best part of 60 years with runaway regulation, union run unaccountable schools and bureaucracy. We live in a part of the world with some of the greatest stores of natural resources and what once was an energetic and entrepreneurial people. We refuse to exploit our own resources and we have wasted so much human capital to political correctness and a crappy and unaccountable education establishment. We are the Roman Empire of the 21st Century.

Pure drivel. I´ve had years when I would meet that phony criteria (except I never bothered to collect unemployment or food stamps) and I am well up into the "affluent." I´d bet most "working your way through college" types would qualify as well.

There IS a problem. It´s called "1 Backhoe == 20 Ditch Diggers." As the machines get smarter, faster and cheaper there is an increasing part of the Left Side of The Bell Curve who become non-competitive with the machines. You see it every day, in construction equipment, auto assembly lines. automated warehouses, operator-less elevators, PBX-board-less offices, and 1-man+hydraulic arm garbage trucks rather than 3 man crews.
And, intelligence being the genetic quality it is, we are creating a permanent Parasitic Class.

Keystone will hinder the socialist agenda.

The good news is Hollyweird isn´t getting movie goers out--entertainment goes before food as optional expenditure.

And besides, the liberal message encoded in each storyline is hard and harder to overlook as we near the socialist goal of equal poverty (except for the party new elite?) Wish the social democrats would do less for change and make way for fixers of abandoned hope.

The only mention of BO i found was where the author says that Blacks comprise the only hopeful segment of the population after BO was elected. They have fared, as we know, dreadfully. Yet, because they have the same skin color, they trust him... still.

"Nonwhites have a higher risk of being economically insecure..." of course. More are illiterate or barely literate, uneducated. This will always result in lower employment and greater poverty.

A month or so ago i read an article about the great increase in suicide rates among Baby Boomers due in part to the American Dream being lost.

There is tragedy in the midst of all of this stupid, arsinnine BO razzle-dazzle.

Reading the article is like watching ping pong. It´s numbers.
You take jobs away, unemployment. You give jobs to immigrants, less paying jobs. You provide jobs to AA employees and more whites are unemployed. You throw welfare at more blacks along with AA jobs and their income levels rise.
Then they tell you home sales are increasing and it´s a sure sign that the economy is improving. Not so fast. Many home sales are now foreign cash buyers and investors.
Bottom line is if you know the US citizens face near poverty, why are you legalizing millions of illegal immigrants and giving work VISAs to more ?

Using anti-science exuberance, for the last few days, the media have pom-pommed someone´s ethereal projection that the economy had created 200,000 or so jobs in July. The fact that our media would consider 200,000 jobs (which hardly keeps up with population growth) worthy of pom-poms is grotesque enough. Even more appalling is spinning manufactured positive news-cycles for President Obama based on proven nonsense like the ADP´s jobs projections.

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. President Obama tosses around “sweetie” as he wishes. No problem with that. No one believes Barack could be condescending to women.

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,
