Audacity: Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson eloquently refuses to stay on liberalism´s black plantation. So, naturally, the left seeks his destruction. George Zimmerman´s prosecutors´ star witness, Rachel Jeantel — whose contentious, garbled testimony backfired badly — told CNN´s Piers Morgan of the jury that heard her, "They old. That´s old-school people. We in a new school, our generation." As she experiences her 15 minutes of fame, Jeantel would no doubt lump Benjamin Carson in with the "old-school people." But these two black Americans represent the different paths available to everyone in a free country, regardless of ethnicity.
Comments: Can we imagine two more widely divergent paths?
As Clarence Thomas says later in this article, his grandfather taught him that he would have to learn how to talk properly if I didn´t want to be thought "inferior."
Nobody´s going to tell Rachel Jeantel that, are they!
When you have a successful black person, who got that way through conventional means,it´s a huge embarrassment for the victimized black left. Their narrative is it´s impossible for a black person to make it because of the institutional bias by the oppressive white majority. They look at these people as escapees from a zoo that need to be captured and put out of sight.Condi Rice is another the black left won´t go near with a 10 ft.pole.
To me,white liberals are much bigger sellouts to their race than a handful of black conservatives.
Wonderful article about Dr. Carson. We all will be watching him.
Poor Rachel. It´s hard to tell if she has the smallest smidgen of intelligence in that tiny brain of hers. It is not her speech impediment holding her back; it is her own self-satisfied ignorance of the world and all it holds for someone who will take the gifts offered her.
The only glimmer of hope is she is 19? 20? whatever, but she doesn´t have a couple of children...yet...to weigh her down further.
The left is glorifying Rachel Jeantel´s ignorance precisely because she fits the mold. She could hardly be classified as a ´liberal´. She isn´t smart enough to have any actual political opinions and Piers Morgan wouldn´t be caught dead having a cup of coffee with her in public. But if she votes at all she can be counted on to vote for the Entitlement Party.
If Detroit´s leaders had been more like Dr. Carson, it probably wouldn´t be bankrupt today.
And Clarance Thomas´ grandfather was correct:"he would have to learn how to talk properly if I didn´t want to be thought "inferior." It is true for white people as well as non-whites.
We no longer teach students how to be ladies and gentlemen, unless students are lucky enough to attend a private school of some kind. America doesn´t have much time left before it descends into total incivility.
Black people who automatically distance themselves from positive black role models are denying themselves the often singular chance to take advantage of a once in a lifetime golden opportunity. Punishing oneself and not even knowing it. Tragic!
I saw Dr. Carson do a split screen with some black liberal woman. It was plain that he knows he is despised on the left. I could see flashes of anger in his demeanor as he was talking to her. I hope he can stay above it all and not get sucked in.
#3 Rachel Jeantel is perfectly satisfied with her life and education what ever that is. Ms. Jeantel doesn´t know the level of ignorance she possess nor does she care. She get´s her nails done, her hair and operates a communication device. She had Trayvon as a friend who didn´t judge her and she´s happy with life. There is nothing political about her she probably lives and functions in a small world. Dr. Carson on the other hand has the left on notice and will be destroyed by all means.
#3, 12 and 17 all put me in mind of an experience I had in Pittsburgh in the 1980s. I lived in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh, a very poor, mostly black section of town, while in graduate school at Pitt. I´m from a lower middle class, single mom background myself, but managed to make it through a Ph.D. and teach at the college level a number of years before retiring. Walking the streets of East Liberty one day, it just struck me how much bigger my world was than the limited one others in the community seemed to be living. Lots of "self-satisfied ignorance" in that community. And what was sad, I realized, was they had no idea of just how big the world could be. I thank my education and the doors it opened every day. Truly wish the black community and the Jeantel´s of the world didn´t disparage education as they seem to do. Mustn´t "act white," after all.
How one speaks has always defined what class one is. Watch "My Fair Lady", they are all white Brits; she wants to better herself and move up in the world by improving her speech. By learning a more refined way of speaking and some manners to boot, Liza ends up at a royal function dancing with the prince, convincing everyone she is a princess instead of a "gutter snip". People can be whatever they want, especially in this country, so long as they are willing to understand where they are today and where they want to be tomorrow. And no one should be looked down upon for trying to improve themselves, that is just jealous ignorance.
Bill Maher called Dr. Carson "a drooling idiot?" The treatment of Clarence Thomas by the Democrat party during his confirmation hearings started me on the path of becoming a Republican. I only hope that others with open minds and hearts, who listen to this creep Maher, will wonder and start to think about the treatment of this enormously accomplished man, Dr. Carson. The Left is so corrupt, hypocritical, unprincipled and such liars, that my stomach turns whenever I read something like this moron´s remarks. I hope one day he or his family need to have their brain (if one exists in his case) worked on, and only the "drooling idiot" is the guy that can save him or his family. Wouldn´t that make a great movie?
Maher is a racist, pure and simple, and an excellent example of the corruption and downfall of this once great nation.
Number 19 you hit the nail on the head. I too grew up in a black single mom household with 3 other brothers (I´m the second oldest having been born in the late sixties) My mother taught us that to get anywhere in this life you have to conduct yourself as a gentleman. You must always look people in the eye and speak properly and clearly. Sadly while in school up until I graduated I was teased for "talking like a white boy" by other Black kids. There was alot of Rachel Jeantel´s and Trayvon Martins with their "self-satified ignorance of the world". Needless to say I became a very productive member of my community because I always kept my mother´s lessons to heart. That is why the left, especially the Black left can not stand Black Conservatives. We are a visible reminder to these charlatans that their way of doing things was and continues to be wrong. I just thank God for good men and women like Dr Carson, Allen West, Justice Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Deneen Borelli, Star Parker and Angela McGlowan. These conservative fighers keep on making sure that the Obamanations antics always see the light of day.
In all the media flurry over Rachel, her own narrative, what she admitted about herself, has been lost. She has had a serious problem with alcohol. A heavy drinker. Evidence was also turned up that she and Trayvon had the same drug habit and shared the same dealer.
Maybe all this pandering and fussing around, the public shower of advantages and gifts, will turn her around. But I am pessimistic. Because when all the applause dies on and Piers and the rest move on, she´ll be left with Rachel.
Content of character is what really counts. The choices we personally make as individuals shape each life and this country.
Contrarily, BIG Government´s, ´plantation,´ socialistic mandates, meddling dictates & excessive regulations but steal our inherent Right to be free & responsible citizens regarding making our own choices.
´Liberal,´ activists these days keep pushing for, ´no boundaries,´ while trying their best to micromanage EVERYTHING & EVERYONE else, ie.: ´´Plantation!?!´´ ...´Tis a conundrum, eh?
At the risk of getting too tangential, I would venture to suggest that academic discipline, mental horsepower and a healthy respect for both the logical world and the spiritual world can mitigate a good deal of the damage which is often attributed to substance abuse. From Sigmund Freud to Walt Disney to any number of others it can be shown that a slovenly approach to life may be more damaging than a dalliance with conscientiousness altering substances.
Like sky-diving or rock climbing or a thousand other activities it may be very dangerous but still none of the goober-stazi´s damnbidness.
And now Drudge is featuring a story, to be on t.v. tonight, from one of the Zimerman jurors saying she thought Z. was a killer but they couldn´t prove it. I hope this woman realizes that in pandering to the Black community she will absolutely feel the ire of all of the rest of us who saw that there was no proof of this at all. There is an e-mail cuculating that is going into all of baby Trayvon´s bad ass stuff, including what you do with skittles, that soda (not tea) and Robitusson....all documented, and it isn´t good. That combo causes aggression, and there was liver damage from its use found during the autopsy.
What a man! Doctor Carson has impressed me more with each sentence he has uttered. He makes his points, but always with dignity and quiet confidence. I hope he considers politics as he would be a godsend for this country. To be so accomplished, renowned, celebrated and admired, his demeanor is strikingly low key and humble.
I´ve had it with the arrogance, pomposity, strutting and hate-filled, anti-American rhetoric of Obama and his ilk. What a pleasure and privilege it would be to have a quiet man such as Ben Carson, who is filled with wisdom and grace, serving and leading us from the White House.
One of few things I wholeheartedly believe: All people are scum, except for you and me! This is the quote from 1957 French movie PORTE DES LILAS. What I am trying to convey is that the scum like Jesse, sharpton, obozo and almost all members of black caucus in Congress, love the situation where black people hate whites, smart blacks, and this hatred is what keeps them (Jesse, sharpton, obozo...) in control not only of blacks but of whole country.
Americans who are buying insurance plans over online exchanges, under what is known as Obamacare, will have limited access to some of the nation’s leading hospitals, including two world-renowned cancer centres. Amid a drive by insurers to limit costs, the majority of insurance plans being sold on the new healthcare exchanges in New York, Texas, and California, for example, will not offer patients’ access to Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, two top cancer centres, or Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, one of the top research and teaching hospitals in the country. Konstantin Kakaes had a lot of good evidence to work with for his article debunking the promise of Amazon’s drone deliveries. The FAA doesn’t allow autonomous flight. Drones are too small and unreliable. They’ll cost Amazon a fortune to maintain and oversee. Kakaes had so many facts in his favor, but he left out a big one: Birds are going to hate these drones.(Snip)The difference for Amazon’s drones is that the birds will be chasing them. Unseen to us, the skies are checkered with fiercely defended bird territories. Open-country raptors—hawks, eagles, kites, harriers, etc.—don’t take kindly to interlopers on their
In a major rant at radio host Sway Calloway this week Kanye West went full tilt against the fashion establishment that is preventing him from unleashing his artistry-in-apparel on the world: “I am Warhol. I am the No. 1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google. Now, who’s going to be the Medici family and stand up and let me create more? Or do you want to marginalize me til I’m out of my moment?” Dear Kanye Warhol-Shakespeare-Disney-Google-West, So you want to be a fashion designer! You actually did launch a
PHILADELPHIA--A horse pulling a buggy with an Amish family aboard in rural Pennsylvania was struck by a bullet fired from a moving car and later died, police said on Tuesday.(Snip)"At the time, they believed it was a firecracker," Weaver said. "They didn´t realize it was a gunshot." The family continued home, where they realized the animal had been injured. "When they got to the farm, the farmer noticed blood from the horse´s mouth," Weaver said. The horse died before a veterinarian arrived.
The Treasury Department said on Thursday that it would sell its remaining shares in General Motors by year’s end, allowing the government to finally sever ties to the bailed-out automaker a few months sooner than expected.(Snip)Barring a sudden jump in G.M.’s stock price, the government is on track to lose about $10 billion on its investment. So far, it has recovered about $38.4 billion. By contrast, other rescue efforts, including the bailout of the American International Group, have generated profits for taxpayers. But administration officials have long argued that the aim was not to make a profit from its investments
WASHINGTON — A mutiny has erupted among photographers who cover President Obama over what they say is the White House’s increasing practice of excluding them from events involving the president and then releasing its own photos or video.(Snip)“As surely as if they were placing a hand over a journalist’s camera lens,” the three-page letter said, “officials in this administration are blocking the public from having an independent view of important functions of the executive branch of government.” The Obama administration has embraced social media as a way to get its message to the public beyond the traditional news media.
Secretary of State John Kerry just scrapped 190 years of U.S. foreign policy in Latin America, casually declaring the Monroe Doctrine is over. Why didn´t he just ring the dinner triangle for Russia, China, Iran and their terrorist catspaws to set up shop, too? "President James Monroe," Kerry told the Organization of American States in Washington Monday, "declared that the United States would unilaterally, and as a matter of fact, act as the protector of the region... And throughout our nation´s history, successive presidents have reinforced that doctrine and made a similar choice. "Today, however, we have made a different choice. The
After allegations were made about the legitimacy of the author´s account of the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya last September, Simon & Schuster has halted publication and sale of The Embassy House: The Explosive Eyewitness Account of the Libyan Embassy Siege by the Solider Who Was There, by Sgt. Morgan Jones and Damien Lewis. "In light of information that has been brought to our attention since the initial publication of The Embassy House, we have withdrawn from publication and sale all formats of this book, and are recommending that booksellers do the same," said Jennifer Robinson,
AVANNAH, Ga. — The uninsured pour into Memorial Health hospital here: the waitress with cancer in her voice box who for two years assumed she just had a sore throat. (Snip) Now, in a perverse twist, many of the poor people who rely on safety-net hospitals like Memorial will be doubly unlucky. A government subsidy, little known outside health policy circles but critical to the hospitals’ survival, is being sharply reduced under the new health law. The subsidy, which for years has helped defray the cost of uncompensated and undercompensated care, was cut substantially on the assumption that the hospitals
The Affordable Care Act’s website debut has been compared to the Titanic disaster. The analogy is fair, in that the ship’s captain demonstrated an inexplicable lack of interest in and respect for the risks presented by the iceberg-infested waters through which his vessel was sailing. (Snip) As many parallels as there are between the fateful maiden voyage of the Titanic and the launch of Healthcare.gov, however, there is another colossal technological disaster that may be even more apt: the catastrophic 1986 explosion of the space shuttle Challenger just 73 seconds after liftoff. Exhaustive postaccident analyses revealed that the immediate cause
Insurers say the early buyers of health coverage on the nation´s troubled new websites are older than expected so far, raising early concerns about the economics of the insurance marketplaces. If the trend continues, an older, more expensive set of customers could drive up prices for everyone, the insurers say, by forcing them to spread their costs around. "We need a broad range of people to make this work, and we´re not seeing that right now," said Heather Thiltgen of Medical Mutual of Ohio, the state´s largest insurer by individual customers. "We´re seeing the population skewing older."(Snip)The average enrollee age
Here’s the latest leading theory about those mystery barges in Portland and San Fransisco: They’re party boats for launching Google Glass, the Internet giant’s computerized eyewear. The barges, and the odd-looking structures on top of them, have been linked to Google in documents from the Coast Guard in New London, Conn., and in an apparent slip-of-the-tongue by a Coast Guard official in California.(Snip)But new evidence indicates the barges will be towed to large coastal cities, where wealthy customers will be invited aboard for exclusive looks at Google Glass. The wearable computer, still under development, would enable people to communicate with the
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
