"If you do a Google Search for ´Purple Lean´ or ´lean drink´ or ´lean drank´ it is sort of an urban kind of drug. It´s known in some circles as poor man´s ecstasy or something like that," George Zimmerman´s attorney Mark O´Mara told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax. "The main ingredients are watermelon, Arizona watermelon juice, a hard candy … for sweetness, and then some type of either codeine tablets if you can get them or Coricidin D, Robitussin DM," he explained. "It´s an intoxicant and it´s a fairly significant one," O´Mara said.
Comments: That is the article. Video of O´Mara with article.
IIRC the convenience-store vid showed St Trayvon attempting to buy some cigarillos too, but the clerk wouldn´t sell them to him. Almost immediately after, another guy comes in and buys some. From all indications, that sweet little 12-year old that still graces the news outlets, in his real-life 17-year old thugling manifestation, was also buying the makings of a "blunt"--which might explain why he was toked up at the time of his demise.
TM was simply one of the millions of black urban boys who never had a father or a mother or teachers or preachers or anybody else to tell them what to do, how to behave, how to succeed. Predictably, boys with no guidance, no restrictions pretty much all grow up the same; doing just about anything; gang activity, impregnating girls, doing drugs, fighting, killing... just to relieve the bottomless boredom that is the identifying signature of such a life.
Truth hurts, doesn´t it, #5. That pertinent information like this wasn´t allowed to be presented at trial is one more reason to yank the professional credentials of the judge and prosecutor. Trayvon´s autopsy showed liver damage that at his youthful age could only have come from abusing codeine cough syrup or DXM, the active ingredient in Robitussin, which in sufficient amounts causes full blown hallucinations, paranoia, and aggressive behavior, which appear to have happened in this case.
The Arizona Watermelon Fruit Cocktail Drink--that´s not an iced tea-based drink--and the Skittles he was carrying were two of the three ingredients in the hip hop beverage called (among other names) lean, sizzurp, Purple Drank. Numerous rappers have died from drinking this concoction. Trayvon was well on his way to a rendezvous with the criminal justice system when he battered George Zimmerman and was rewarded with a chunk of lead through his heart. You pays your money and you takes your chance.
So let me get this straight. Is that why the prosecution covered up the watermelon on the can? Did they know of this drink? So if Trayvon were high on this that night, blood tests would likely have come back negative. Just great.
About time this news was made available. A lot of us here already knew it. They were trying to get inside gz head to help prove he was a racist. They wanted to get into his psyche. Well, if tm had simply gone home when he had the chance instead of sucker punching gz he might not be dead. None of us wanted this boy dead but maybe we need to get into his psyche to show that he had the mind set to back track and strike out first because that is who he was. Drugs, guns, robbery, no respect for education, gang activity, street fighter. His phone was a font of info the judge did not want out. He was big and bad and tough and was not going to let this doughboy of a white hispanic get away with disrespecting him. Beat him up, take some cell phone pictures and go on his way. If gz had mot been carrying that is probably what would have happened. If you cross the interstate on a Fri, with out looking both ways don´t be surprised if you get hit by a semi. If you beat someone up who is packing don´t be surprised if you might get shot. This contrived story about tm being a child just picking up some candy is a lie. Sometimes foolish choices cause fools to die.
The urban terminology for that combination is ´robotripping´ which is an accurate description of the behavior of the user. Saint Trayvon had a reason for going out into a driving rainstorm for those purchases. The robotussin must have been in his daddy´s girlfriend´s medicine cabinet.
With many apologies to Elton John, and to anyone who did a take-off on Levon, which is likely much better.
He was born destined to be a thug, a boy of the hood When the new york times said bad is good A losers life’s begun barak obama has a son today And he shall be trayvon And he shall be a hood man And he shall be trayvon In tradition with obama’s plan And he shall be trayvon And he shall be a hood man He shall be trayvon
Back at you poster 19. No one "urinated" on a grave. And George Zimmerman and his defense team won one battle only. Mr. O´mara spoke about Trayvon in defense of his client who faces the prospect of an unwarranted, politically motivated civil rights suit.
second post apologies, but necessary for clarification. O´Meara, an excellent attorney, may be defending Zimmerman in a bogus federal civil rights suit, as well as a civil suit brought by the parents of Saint Trayvon. O´Meara has to get the information out there to counter the sainted image of the eleven year old trayvon.
What is interesting to me is that twice in recent memory we have the State legal apparatus prosecuting/persecuting innocents with all the power the State has to bear. The Duke incident and now the Zimmerman case where hard facts were just not mentioned at all in the legal case. Innocent people were caught up in the nefarious schemings of the State in it´s evil haste to convict at all cost´s.
This leads the honest Legal Profession to retaliate in kind to expose the lies of omission by shining the light of truth on these pertinent facts so hidden by the State apparatus.
I saw this kind of failure in the lead up to the general election in 2008 by the media. The complete failure to even hint at the facts of our still immature administration we are saddled with for the next three and a half years. When I saw this happening in 2007 and 2008 I was beside myself and the only thing I could do was fume. I do feel better seeing Mark O´Mara standing tall and holding the light of truth up in the air like the Statue of Liberty.
"Long Live the Republic" and the rest of it as Sootch is wont to say.
If a civil suit comes. Trayvons character would be allowed in. The dade county school records that were hidden. The fact that his mother had custudy of him at 15. Couldn´t deal with the suspensions and possible charges pendinding she couldn´t handle him and sent him to his father. The kid should have been sent to jail if not for the school board wanting to purify the county´s crime rate with black youths. Three suspensions if he were white he would have been sent to jail. He was trying to by a gun according to his phone. He sold drugs according to his phone and Facebook friends looking for him for their stuff. He would have ended up dead or killing someone. From what his friend said. He was going to commit a hate crime against George Zimmerman. A crime against a gay white guy. The dade county board is being investigated.
And this is why I can´t get codeine cough syrup over the counter or sometimes even from my doctor WHEN I HAVE A BAD COUGH.
There is a certain type of cough I get maybe once every 5 years and codeine cough syrup, preferably the older kind not mixed with some kind of "upper" to prevent abuse, is the ONLY thing that suppresses my cough and allows me to sleep enough to heal.
Way too much attention being given to a poster and his post that aren´t here now. Makes for very difficult and confusing reading. Poor current #5 ... I kept looking at THAT post and wondering, what the heck is everyone whining about? Perhaps when posts are deleted, their post number could be deleted or some indication given in the space for that number. Just an idea....
Not enough attention got paid to these details that were UNETHICALLY disallowed from the trial. Mark O´Mara is absolutely 100% correct in getting this info out there now, in advance of the civil suit or whatever federal charges the ´´Just Us´´ Department can gin up.
Trayvon Martin was the racist. Trayvon Martin was the aggressor. And Trayvon Martin paid the ultimate price for his arrogant attitude and actions.
Tim Tebow has been unable to land an NFL job since the New England Patriots released him earlier this year, but it appears he is preparing for a second career. According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Tebow is still interested in landing an NFL job. However, he could end up in a college broadcast booth or studio next year. Tim Tebow hired prominent broadcast agent CAA’s Nick Khan to join Jimmy Sexton in repping him. If no NFL, will look at college TV jobs. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 10, 2013 This is the first time there has been any indication Tebow might
HONOLULU — A unit of the U.S. Department of Defense has been holding so-called "arrival ceremonies" for seven years, with an honor guard carrying flag-draped coffins off of a cargo plane as though they held the remains of missing American service men and women returning that day from old battlefields. After NBC News raised questions about the arrival ceremonies, the Pentagon acknowledged Wednesday that no honored dead were in fact arriving, and that the planes used in the ceremonies often couldn´t even fly but were towed into position. The solemn ceremonies at a military base in Hawaii are a sign of the
The New York City Police Department confirms an undercover police officer has been arrested in connection with the Sept. 29 videotaped Manhattan melee between motorcyclists and a motorist and his family in an SUV. Wojciech Braszczok has been charged with riot and criminal mischief, Detective Brian Sessa of the NYPD´s public information unit said Tuesday night. (Snip)Karasyk has said his client only saw other bikers attacking the vehicle, but NYPD investigators believe the undercover officer banged on the SUV and broke a window, WCBS reported.
NEW YORK – A New York City man who intervened in the beating of a driver pulled from his car and set upon by a group of bikers said Sunday he "felt intense danger" as he protected the assaulted man. Sergio Consuegra told reporters that he wishes he could have done more. He had been on his way to church on Sept. 29 when he saw an SUV stop on 178th Street in Manhattan and a group of motorcyclists approach. (Snip) Consuegra said the riders started hitting the car, and that one of them tried to grab Lien´s wife, who was
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis on Saturday effectively demoted a highly conservative Italian cardinal who led the Vatican´s department on clergy, while keeping in place a German prelate who wages the Catholic church´s crackdown on liberal U.S. nuns and helps craft its sex-abuse response. After six months on the job to study the workings of the Vatican´s curia, or bureaucracy, Francis has now put his imprint on several key positions which help administer the Roman Catholic church´s worldwide flock. His management picks will likely both please and disappoint both conservatives and liberals alike, perhaps in line with his fledgling papacy, which
In case you missed it, last week Funny or Die produced a video in which comedian Sarah Silverman, among others, facetiously advocated for a black NRA. It wasn’t funny, but racist and ignorant, as Katie pointed out. But don’t think the black, gun-owning community let this one slide. NRA commentator Colion Noir and PJTV’s AlfonZo Rachel both took their turn condemning the ‘black NRA’ video—and they’re well worth watching. “Everyone in this video is guilty of promoting the idea that all young black men are criminals to be feared, because God forbid the Second Amendment apply to everyone, that would mean even
This week marks the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, which is known today primarily as the occasion of Martin Luther King´s magnificent "I Have a Dream" speech. Such anniversaries generate a great deal of mundane commentary to the following effect: There is no denying we made significant strides toward equality since Dr. King spoke, but we still have a long way to go, and enacting my preferred policies will help us get there. The weakness in such a line of thinking is the assertion that "we still have a long way to go." Perhaps
CAIRO — Two of Egypt´s former militant groups are offering an initiative to halt the country´s political violence, in which supporters of the ousted Islamist president will stop street protests if the military-backed government stops its crackdown on them, the groups´ leaders said Monday. The initiative led by Egypt´s Gamaa Islamiya and Islamic Jihad movements, which waged an insurgency in the 1990s, aims to bring dialogue between the military and the Muslim Brotherhood, from which toppled President Mohammed Morsi hails. Morsi was overthrown by the military on July 3 after millions took to the street demanding that he step down. Morsi´s allies
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the jury verdict that freed the killer of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was "questionable." But he isn´t sure it will have staying power in the public consciousness. Speaking on CBS´s Face the Nation, Powell said cases like Martin´s "blaze across the midnight sky" and are forgotten. The first black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and first black secretary of state, Powell says America has come a long way toward racial equality 50 years after Martin Luther King Jr.´s "I Have a Dream" speech. Powell recalled being refused service when trying to
While media mogul Oprah Winfrey has been promoting her new film, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” she revealed she was a recent victim of profiling while shopping in a store in Zurich.(Snip)“I was in Zurich the other day at a store, whose name I will not mention,” Winfrey said on “Entertainment Tonight,” “and I didn’t have my eyelashes on, but I was in full Oprah Winfrey gear…but obviously, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ is not shown in Zurich. So this doesn’t happen to me unless somebody obviously doesn’t know that it’s me.” Winfrey went on to explain that she was in Zurich for Tina Turner’s wedding,
It’s moving day at the PGA Championship and Tiger Woods has the van stuck in reverse. With the leaders scheduled to tee off later, all eyes shifted to Woods as he missed a par putt on the third green to drop to 3-over, a hefty dozen strokes behind leader Jason Dufner. (Snip)A tweet from PGA.com producer John Kim showed him in an impromptu training session with coach Sean Foley the night before. Standing behind a courtesy car in the parking lot, Woods watched as Foley demonstrated proper swing technique with an umbrella.
CARSON CITY, Nevada — O.J. Simpson has been granted parole on some charges stemming from his 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery convictions involving the holdup of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel room. But the order doesn´t mean Simpson will be released any time soon. (Snip)But the order doesn´t mean Simpson will be leaving Lovelock Correctional Center. He was convicted on multiple charges and faces at least four more years in prison on sentences that were ordered to run consecutively.
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the
All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell believes the United States should have a socialized, single-payer healthcare system similar to those in Canada and Europe. “I think universal health care is one of the things we should really be focused on, and I hope that will happen,” Powell reportedly said last week. “Whether it’s Obamacare, or son of Obamacare, I don’t care. As long as we get it done.” The Puget Sound Business Journal reported Powell´s remarks at the Prostate Cancer Survivors Celebration Breakfast at the University of Washington´s Cancer Research Center. Powell, the Republican who supported Barack Obama during the last two presidential
President Barack Obama is bringing his family of aides and advisors down to South Africa for Nelson Mandela’s mass-media send-off. “For us it’s the President and the First Lady, the Attorney General [Eric Holder], Susan Rice, Valerie Jarrett,” Ben Rhodes, the White House’ deputy national security advisor for strategic communications, told reporters during an impromptu press conference on Air Force One. Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry are staying behind, but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was on board Air Force One as well. The memorial is expected to be attended by hundreds of world
