Mich. Judge Will Keep
Obama Informed, Says
Detroit Bankruptcy ‘Not
Honoring’ President

National Review Online, by Sterling Beard

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 7/19/2013 6:49:18 PM

Ingham County circuit court judge Rosemarie Aquilina, who ruled today that Michigan governor Rick Snyder (R) must direct Detroit’s emergency manager, Kevyn Orr, to withdraw the Chapter 9 bankruptcy petition he filed yesterday, also wrote that she would transmit a copy of her order to President Obama. “I know he’s watching this,” the Detroit News quotes Aquilina saying, noting that she predicted that Obama would eventually step in and take action. Aquilina ruled that the 2012 law that allowed Governor Rick Snyder (R) to approve the city’s bankruptcy violates the Michigan Constitution.

Are you sure this wasn´t from The Onion?

" Aquilina also described the filing as “cheating,” and declared that “it’s also not honoring the president [of the United States], who took [Detroit’s auto companies] out of bankruptcy.”

Judge Aquilina, obviously a leftist unionista activist judge, thinks she can order the Governor around?
Sorry, sweetheart, only Obama gets to order around whoever he wants.
There is no basis in the law for a judge to issue a declarative judgement, ordering a governor to do something, and declaring a 2012 law unconstitutional is up to the Michigan Supreme Court. Like Obama and Holder, she is making this up as she goes.

If I was Governor Snyder, I´d be going on a 2 week vacation about now

There was another ruling like this not so long ago, the jurist perfectly well knew the ruling wouldn´t stand due to the wacky reasoning,...but what the judge was really doing was demonstrating her bona fides to Lord Obama...and grabbing her fifteen minutes of fame.

Wow!

Will this stand? A state judge is ordering the Governor and Orr to file a petition they do not want in a federal court.

Maybe the Governor and Orr should want to refile. That is a different question.

The rest of her Obama worship is revealing but won´t matter. This will be decided in other venues.

Seems when Gerard Ford´s administration (a Republican) said this about New York, the RAT infested media whores couldn´t print "Drop Dead" headlines fast enough.

WTbleep...BO did not not bail out GM. The taxpayers, shareholders, creditors and bond holders did this along with the mandatory purchasing of Chevy Volt fleets by govn´t agencies, nationwide.

BO did nothing other than redistribute the wealth to unions and union management to secure their votes, not save the company. PERIOD.

Worked out well, didn´t?

Guaranteed BO will bail out Detroit and every other black controlled urban city that has zero clue how to run its finances (which is probably most of them).

Furthermore, making a ruling "not honoring the President" sounds like something out of the 1500s that would be said to the Pope or the monarchy.

Wow! Let´s start with the Supremacy Clause - federal jurisdiction was invoked upon the filing of the petition. The validity of a bankruptcy filing can not be determined in state court. It is a federal question to be determined by the federal bankruptcy court. This judge has no jurisdiction and, therefore, her order has no effect. Moreover, the party who brought this action in the state court is facing contempt of the federal bankruptcy court for having done so. There is an automatic stay order from the bankruptcy court that issues upon the filing prohibiting any action against the party filing bankruptcy except in the bankruptcy court or where the bankruptcy grants relief from the automatic stay to go the state court. Detroit needs to file an immediate contempt action.

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Republicans, they insist, are the party of special interests. It has been a classic Washington messaging campaign for these partisan

Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
