The Rodney Dangerfield House Republicans
Weekly Standard, by William Kristol

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 7/19/2013 6:42:17 PM

House Republicans don’t get no respect. Has there been in recent times a more derided, mocked, and pitied bunch? Establishment types think the backbenchers are Neanderthals, grassroots activists denounce the leadership as a bunch of squishes, and the media can’t find enough bad things to say about all of them. But you know what? The House Republicans deserve some respect. They’re doing okay. At the beginning of the year, they navigated the perilous waters around the fiscal cliff without doing much damage to themselves, the economy, or conservatism. This week, they went on the offensive,

Until they earn respect by their actions, they have nothing to complain about. They are very well paid to represent the people & have done a lousy job of it. In a real job they would have been fired long ago.

Anyone who listens to, or advocates, the same policies as this man, William Kristol, need to be literally ran out of the party. This pundit has failed to get anything accurate in the twenty years I have been paying attention to politics. How this quisling ever got to be a spokesman for my political party is proof of just how out of touch the Republican party has become.

Mr Kristol is accurate. The Senate Republicans cave at every opportunity, this week they did manage to send a stink bomb to the Senate that harry reid may not be able to ignore; repeal of both the individual and corporate mandates.

Mr. Kristol is confused. The ObamaCare vote he speaks of was meaningless and meant to fool the rubes into thinking the GOP cares about them. Mr. Kristol just helped them in this effort. The House GOP was given all it needed in Nov. 2010 to defund part or all of ObamaCare and it did nothing. The House has 100% of the power to do this, not half of one third. Boehner wouldn´t even allow the topic to be mentioned. Billions of taxpayer dollars flew out the door to set up ObamaCare. He knew every day that went by made it more unlikely that O´Care could be undone. He even put the measure in the Appropriations committee where it was hung up for over a year. Mr. Kristol says ObamaCare may be an election issue in 2014. Pathetic. Boehner, McConnell et al love ObamaCare, love Obama, have no intention of undoing ObamaCare, know it can´t be undone anyway. Obama helped them beat the Tea Party so they owe him anyway. Mr. Kristol needs to retire.

Despite the fact that elected republicans have very little power there are some loud mouths on the air who make their living bashing republicans.

I, for one, am happy when NO legislation is passed and no money is spent.

Too bad those same loudmouths don´t spend more time informing the voters about the dastardly deeds done by O and his cabal.

(Video) Jimmy Fallon wasn’t very nice to Hillary Clinton during Monday night’s edition of NBC’s “The Tonight Show.” After invoking Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy announcement, Fallon mocked her mother, the former Secretary of State and potential 2016 presidential contender, for dressing like a man. “I want to say congrats to Chelsea Clinton. Last week she announced that she is expecting her first child,” Fallon said, setting up the joke. “That’s great. That’s great for her. If it is a girl, it will get some of Chelsea’s old hands-me-downs.” “And if it is a boy,” he continued, “it will get some of

FREEHOLD — A family is suing a New Jersey school district, contending that the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is discriminatory toward atheist children. The lawsuit against the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District was filed in state court last month and announced Monday by the American Humanist Association. The group says the phrase, added in 1954, "marginalizes atheist and humanist kids as something less than ideal patriots." The anonymous plaintiffs say those two words violate the state constitution. But school district lawyer David Rubin says the district is merely following a state law that requires schools to have

The Real Port Authority Scandal

This is a column about the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, but you won’t read a word in here about the lane-closing scandal in Fort Lee, N.J. This is about another scandal, one that has been going for on so long that people don’t even think of it as scandalous. Indeed, it involves no illegality whatsoever. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a scandal. The Port Authority is supposed to manage — and improve — important parts of the transportation infrastructure of New York and New Jersey: airports like John F. Kennedy Airport, bridges like the George Washington

After a t*t-for-tat series of delays, the United States conducted an Open Skies Treaty intelligence flight over Russian territory on Monday, a State Department official said. The spy flight originally was scheduled for April 14 but was canceled by Russia after a U.S. team for the flight failed to arrive near Moscow on time and Moscow refused temporarily to reschedule it. A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman also expressed anger on Monday over U.S. delays in certifying a new high-tech Russian aircraft to be used for spying missions over the United States under the Open Skies Treaty that permits limited legal

Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that dozens of lawyers will be reassigned to the Justice Department’s pardon office in anticipation of a surge of applications from drug offenders for reductions in their sentences — applications the Obama administration has signaled it would look upon favorably. This exercise is another transparent usurpation of legislative power by the president. The pardon power is just the camouflage for it. The pardon power exists so that the president can act in individual cases to correct excesses and injustices. It is not supposed to be a vehicle by which presidents rewrite congressional statutes that

Over half of the 221,604 Georgia Obamacare "enrollees" the Obama administration claims as enrollments have not paid for their plans, thereby leaving them still uninsured. Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens says only 107,581 Georgians have paid for coverage. "Many Georgians completed their application process by the deadline, but have yet to pay for the coverage," Hudgens said in a statement.Hudgens also said that insurance department estimates that 400,000 Georgians may lose their current health insurance coverage because of Obamacare. According to the New York Times, 20% of the individuals whom the Obama

In the budget proposal he presented to Congress last month, President Barack Obama called for what would be the highest level of sustained taxation ever imposed on the American people, according to the analysis published last week by the Congressional Budget Office. Under Obama’s proposal, taxes would rise from 17.6 percent of Gross Domestic Product in 2014 to 19.2 percent in 2024. During the ten years from 2015 to 2024, federal taxation would average 18.7 percent GDP. America has never been subjected to a ten-year stretch of taxation at that level.

Nine people are dead and at least 36 were wounded - including six children - in an especially bloody 48 hours in the gang-and-violence-plagued city of Chicago over the weekend. Five of the six children wounded - who range in age from 11 to 15 - were shot during a drive-by shooting on Sunday night after a person in the vehicle reportedly asked if the children were members of a particular street gang. The sixth, a 15-year-old girl, was shot while riding in a vehicle in what appears to be a separate - but also gang-related - incident. In one

A coalition of investigative journalists to include the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) recently announced a public project to map border infrastructure used to hopefully minimize unlawful crossing and other illegal activities. While the effort is understandably time-consuming and leads to frustration when clearly seeing much of the border unfenced--security experts argue the key is proper placement, rather than blanket coverage with infrastructure. The Center for Investigative Reporting’s map of a U.S./Mexico border fence, or lack thereof, offers a seeming disparity of border assets allocated—leaving viewers to assume that Texas is left largely un-guarded compared to the relative coverage enjoyed

Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. Wouldn´t some suspect that the scientists who raised these claims were driven by something—ideology, tobacco money—other than science? Yet in the current discussions about increased inequality, few researchers, fewer reporters, and no one in the executive branch of government directly addresses what seems to be the strongest statistical correlate of inequality in the United States: the rise of single-parent
