Schuette appeals Ingham County judge´s
order to withdraw Detroit bankruptcy case

The Detroit News, by Gary Heinlein

Original Article

Posted By:barbcrose, 7/19/2013 6:21:36 PM

Ruling the governor and Detroit’s emergency manager violated the state constitution, an Ingham County Circuit judge ordered Friday that Detroit’s federal bankruptcy filing be withdrawn. “It’s absolutely needed,” said Judge Rosemary Aquilina, observing she hopes Gov. Rick Snyder “reads certain sections of the (Michigan) constitution and reconsiders his actions.” The judge said state law guards against retirement benefits being “diminished” but there will be no such protection in federal bankruptcy court.

Comments:
Having been run by Democrats for fifty years, this poor city has been totally ruined.

Fine, stop the bankruptcy and stop welfare and union pension checks at the same time. Liberals don´t seem to understand that Detroit is out of money and out of options. So withdraw the bankruptcy and just let things take their natural course.

I watched the intellect-deprived Bob Beckel on Fox demand that we once again bail Detroit out. When is this insanity going to end? The unions have caused the car companies and Detroit to go bankrupt. What do liberals not understand about economics; if there is no more money, you have to stop spending. These greedy unions all over the country have inflated salaries and pensions, and they should not expect the rest of the nation to bail them out. Bob lambasted the car companies who moved to other states paying a lower wage; well, Bob, that is good business and these companies will pay their bills and stay in business, not to mention, there is a ready and willing supply of workers who are willing to work for $40 an hour. The only reason GM can afford to pay their unions $74 per hour is because 0bama took money from the rest of us to give to these greedy union thugs. But I fear 0bama will once again take money from the taxpayers and bail out Detroit once again. This is truly insane, and eventually people will realize voting for these democrat liberals will ruin the whole country by spending too much.

Some judge! Sending the case to Obama so the dictator can order the bills, obscene pensions etc be paid. Does Congress have any say on this? I thought all spending bills had to originate in the House??

When a brain tumor took away Dorothy Holm´s ability to speak, she picked up index cards and began filling them, edge to edge, with seemingly random, indecipherable sequences of letters. Her grandchildren saw her scribbling and thought she was leaving them a code — but it was one the preteens couldn´t crack. Eighteen years later, the puzzle has been solved after one of Holm´s granddaughters posted images of a card online. In just 13 minutes, a MetaFilter.com user figured out that as Dorothy Holm was dying, she was writing out prayers.

A sharply divided Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed Texas to continue enforcing abortion restrictions that opponents say have led more than a third of the state´s clinics to stop providing abortions. The justices voted 5-4 to leave in effect a provision requiring doctors who perform abortions in clinics to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The court´s conservative majority refused the plea of Planned Parenthood and several Texas abortion clinics to overturn a preliminary federal appeals court ruling that allowed the provision to take effect. The four liberal justices dissented.

The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.
