The Real Creepy-Ass Crackers
American Spectator, by Daniel J. Flynn

Original Article

If Americans were honest, we would change our national anthem from Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner” to Rockwell’s 1984 hit “Somebody’s Watching Me.” The lyric “can the people on TV see me” surely fits America 2013 better than a dated 1814 reference to “the land of the free.” The news this week that governments across America have tracked and scanned tens of millions of license plates into databases shocks only in that it doesn’t shock. During the summer that we discovered PRISM, the Mail Isolation Control and Tracking program, and that the attorney general believes

Flynn has to catch up with the times ~ CREEPY modifies the noun "ASS-CRACKA". Makes a lot of difference if you catch my drift.

On the other hand with respect to the Mail Isolation Control and Tracking program, that´s an outgrowth of two things ~ (1) technological drift where a simple purpose ~ reading addresses electronically for use in electronically driven sortation equipment turns into (2) a derivative useful in intelligence.

He is both right and wrong in complaining ~ a good number of the crimes solved had to do with the shipment of poisons or harmful bacterial through the mails ~ something that affects far more than the sender and receiver ~ 500,000 postal employees, and probably that many people working in common carriers (trucking firms, airlines) are EXPOSED. Actually, those letters are a threat to EACH AND EVERY American who has ever received a miss-delivery!

If it helps protect those 350,000,000 people from being murdered by crazoids with harmful substances and Flynn has a different idea on how that can be done, he should tell folks about it ~ his suggestions would probably be welcomed by USPS investigators.

Or, does Flynn imagine the risk is minor enough that we can afford to NOT take advantage of existing data and just let a few people die every now and then?

Would Flynn like to fill the statistical quota for the ´probable death rate´ this year?

Seriously, I doubt he would volunteer to be THE ONE if that could be predicted with precision. Neither would anyone else.

On the other hand, does the TWITTER generation value ´privacy´ ~ or even know what that might be? That was a very good question ~ he should be commended for that one.

I´ve been throwing around "creepy ass cracker" quite liberally since the young lady uttered those words in court. I know, for sure, it isn´t racist.

So far, everyone loves it. The burden of being a funny guy (sigh).

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Charlie Crist doesn’t take to bed when he gets sick. He takes three Red Bulls, two cups of coffee, a glass of Mountain Dew, Sudafed and cough drops. Then, he discards the box of Mucinex his 81-year-old father suggested he take, pushes through the back door of a Fort Myers restaurant and wraps his arms around his Democratic supporters. “I can’t help it; I have to hug,” he says afterward, when asked whether he worries about passing on his cold to voters. “Can you even imagine not hugging?” Crist certainly couldn’t imagine it back on Feb.

The Obamacare Enrollment
Crash Is Coming
National Journal, by Sam Baker    Original Article

Obamacare´s enrollment numbers are surging—for now. After a disastrous launch, the law´s backers are breathing a sigh of relief as enrollees flock to its insurance exchanges. But the totals are built on a shaky foundation, and at some point soon, the exchange enrollment figures are going to fall, perhaps by more than 1 million people. Right now, the administration is counting the total number of people who have selected an insurance policy under the law, rather than the number of people who´ve paid for it. But at some point, likely this spring, the administration will be forced to disclose how many people are

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a “social media analytic tool” that will give the government access to “full Twitter historical data,” according to a solicitation released on Tuesday. The agency is seeking feedback for a “possible future acquisition to provide near real time social media analysis.” HHS said it wants to use the tool for “ongoing monitoring” of public health issues. HHS provides a long list of requirements, including “access to real-time social media posts,” and “access to full Twitter firehose.” The agency requires an archive that goes back at least five years of “full Twitter historical data.”

WASHINGTON —First Mitt Romney loses a presidential election that he was predicted to win in a walk. Then he appears some 15 months later on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” to lecture the nation on how Republicans might lose the presidential election once again. “I don’t think Bill Clinton is as relevant as Hillary Clinton if Hillary Clinton decides to run for president in 2016,” Mr. Romney opined. Perhaps he forgot that Bill was elected president 21 years ago promising that a vote for him would mean acquiring two presidents “for the price of one.” Mr. Romney, Hillary is actually pretty

Did you hear about the two gay dads whose daughter got a nasty rejection note for her tie-dye birthday party? Or the homophobic slurs written around an Ivy League college dorm? Or the two lesbians who came outside one day and found homophobic words spray-painted on their garage door? Sarah Palin has made an endorsement in Texas. She’s backing tea party leader Katrina Pierson over Rep. Pete Sessions. In a Facebook post, Palin notes that Pierson’s “life’s story is full of hardships she has fought to overcome, which taught her firsthand the importance of self-reliance, hard work, and the blessings of liberty.” One of those hardships includes a 1997 arrest for shoplifting. As the Dallas Morning News reported on Valentine’s Day, “In 1997, five days before her 21st birthday, Katrina Pierson, then named Katrina Lanette Shaddix, was arrested on a charge of theft of greater than $50 and less than $500.” Pierson,

Obama delivers on jobs

Silly us. Here we’ve been criticizing the Obama administration for the dismal job growth we’ve seen these past five years. Turns out, we’ve got it backward. We’ve been measuring the president by the jobs the economy has been creating during his tenure. If two top Obama officials are right, we should count it an Obama success that more Americans will decide not to work. The latest weighing in is White House economic adviser Gene Sperling. On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” he responded to a Congressional Budget Office finding that raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour, as the president proposes to do,

I will not explain to you what is happening in Kiev tonight other than to say that it is Vladimir Putin´s worst nightmare. The last time that this many people came out to the Independence Square (the Maidan) in Kiev, nine years ago, protesters undid the election of Victor Yanukovich and brought to power a Western-friendly government. In the process, they scared the living daylights out of Putin. (Snip)If it can happen in Kiev, in other words, it can happen in Moscow.

It has become such a repeated mantra in mainstream Republican circles, that it could be nearing cliché status: If the Republican Party is looking to stay politically viable in the future, it must win over Hispanic voters. But, thus far, it has become a case of easier said than done, considering Latinos have traditionally voted overwhelmingly Democrat. But the GOP need not lose hope, party insiders say — just look to Texas. A revealing Gallup poll unveiled this month found that in the Lone Star State, more Hispanics identify themselves as Republican than in the country as a whole. Nationwide, Democrats hold

Last week, Boehner and McConnell faced down the Tea Party’s threat to cripple the government when they supported raising the nation’s debt ceiling. That move prevented GOP political suicide. If the nation’s credit rating, stocks and the recovery went down the sewer because of Republicans’ refusal to raise the debt ceiling, the GOP’s chances in the midterm elections would have been severely damaged.
