President Obama: ´Trayvon Martin
Could´ve Been Me 35 Years Ago´

National Journal, by Matt Berman*

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 7/19/2013 2:21:40 PM

President Obama made a surprise visit to the White House press room on Friday to speak about the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin case and made some of the most open and bold remarks about race of his presidency. While the president began by commending the judge in the case as "professional" and the jurors as "properly instructed," he brought the case into the much broader context of race in America. When Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said this could´ve been my son. Another way of saying that is, a Trayvon Martin could´ve been me 35 years ago.

Hey Obama-- what about the rule of law?

What about a white-hispanic you white-black president?

What about self-defense?

What about the fact trayvon was into drugs and had a record?

You´re the one who sees only color-- your black side is overshadowing your white side.

Yes he could be Trayvon Martin if he got into a drug induced stupor, took up "whoop ass´n" as a pastime, prided himself as a street fighter and walked up to someone with a concealed carry license, popped him in the nose and straddled him on the ground while beating his head against the concrete sidewalk.

Yes, he may have wound up dead from a gunshot just like Martin.

The new agenda moves forward....now it is the stand your ground laws. Meanwhile, the president, the Attorney General, other black leaders and the media move forward imbuing black youth with resentment against anyone with authority, especially white. They are making sure more black youth are filled with resentment and hate for the ´white´. Black boys are dying at the end of black men´s guns and now more black boys will die at the end of black mans words. I think of my ´Little´ boy that I mentored and pray he doesn´t fall into the trap; my sweet ´Little´ that is now about Trayvon´s age and also lives in Miami.

This is a sad, sad state of affairs for the American people black, white and otherwise. There is so much more to say, but the people that should be listening are not.

Poppycock. Anyone who throws a baseball and hits a golf ball in Obama´s anemic schoolgirl fashion would know that fistfights can be injurious to the health of a weakling, particularly one with the classic alligator mouth and hummingbird ass. Trayvon figured himself to be a tough guy, impervious to an overweight Hispanic. He figured wrong. Obama keeps widening the fissure he created with his first irresponsible comment about the Zimmerman-Martin contretemps. By now it´s clear that he lacks the common sense and the self-control that ought to inhere in anyone who would govern others. When he finally falls, he´ll shatter when he lands. Broom, dustpan, trashcan.

That is the most ignorant, factually inaccurate statement being mouthed by his syncopates in this case. Zimmerman did nothing to threaten Martin, except maybe to thwart his nefarious intentions.

He´s trying to incite a race war in this country to overshadow the looming IRS, Benghazi, NSA and F&F scandals, along with the ever-declining economy and the looming Obamacare disaster.

Despicable comment by a despicable punk (not a man).

Highly irresponsible for a president to suggest that Trayvon, had he possessed a gun, "might have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman" for merely "following" him in his car!

Obama is alway touted as (a) an Ivy-league trained lawyer and (b) a former law "professor."

Even without those stellar credentials, even I understand that the self-defense law applies to situations where some kind of deadly force is reasonably anticipated -- and the law could not be used as a defense for shooting a stranger who appeared to be simply "following."

Only the blacks themselves can pull themselves out of poverty, crime, racism, etc. Until they get past their self loathing and belief that America owes them, will they prosper. They bring the racism on themselves, with so called leaders like Sharpton, Jackson, Rev. Wright, Holder and Obama. They are all the same, they all speak the same language, they do not motivate. Instead they denigrate and continue to enslave their own people. They are pathetic!

This administration has been most successful in its effort to revise the entire lexicon of American English. Terrorism, Marriage, American Values and Illegal Immigrant, come to mind. (Right, Wrong and Is were changed in previous eras.)
Now they seem to have changed the function of President from Administrator of the Government to Enlightened Wise Man who only comes out to pronounce on great Platonic dilemmas.

The man makes me want to gag.

You would have gone after Zimmerman too?

Trayvon could have just kept walking home. He didn´t have to confront Zimmerman, and he´s still be alive.

I truly believe some think Zimmerman was walking around with the gun in his hand telling Trayvon to stop, or something.

He just needed to keep walking home.

I love to say that my white friend from S. Africa is an "African American". That always and inevitably totally befuddles blacks and liberal whites.(/rant)

FTA: ´ That history, Obama said, is especially salient to black men. "There are very few African-American men in this country who haven´t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store—that includes me," he said. The same goes for African-American men who have heard "locks click on the doors of cars," or seen a woman in an elevator "clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off." ´

This is an incredible statement. The president assumes (most likely on purpose) that the white person in these examples is wrong to feel like they do. This is his attempt to make white people feel guilty about fearing that a black person might attack or rob them when statistically there is a good chance of that happening.

In order for our "white African" president to have be "shot just like Tryvon" he would have had to have done the same stupid things: skulk around a condo project that already had several robberies/break-ins, act suspiciously when aware of being followed, instead of running to safety stick around & hide while looking for more trouble, when calmly asked what you´re doing, sucker punch the inquisitor and break his nose, once on the ground, pummel same inquisitor to the level of bleeding and before all that tell your "girlfriend" you´re going to hand out an ass-whupping. Finally, forget to duck when the other proves to be armed. Yup --- same result.

I have always been saying that I think Obama is mentally ill. This latest outrage seems to have been calculated to stir up trouble between the races. This whole Trayvon race issue was made up by the Progressive MSM out of thin air and I think Obama senses the rift it is creating in the country and he wants to take advantage of it. Read the book by David Horowitz, "Hating Whitey and Other Progressive Causes". This fits right into the Progressive Playbook. Notice Obama made sure to make this announcement on a Friday afternoon before a weekend. The people who voted for Obama should be ashamed of what they unleashed on this country.

The peaceful resistance of MLK or Ghandi would make it okay to wear an American flag done in black and white. It could stand as a symbol to reject all racism but also highlight our divide. American in black and is as different as night and day.

a black and white ribbon would do as well if one has the courage. In the hornets nest being whipped up as if it was Idi Amin and some dancers around a campfire, who knows what tinder will do if sparks land on it?

Stanley Ann did a pretty wise thing sending her son to his real father so he could fulfill the dreams of his mother and her married lover, his real father, communist turned democrat community organizer, Frank Marshall Davis.

Pretty far fetched? Truth is stranger than fiction and in this case hard to bear.

We can never end affirmative action, the only reason brown and brownish people ally themselves with blacks but it can be chanage incrementally but first you have to get GOP elected in a majority and them not to do bloat aat the top as Reagan did.

The GOP so not often in power that when are they go all out to grab the brass ring and the next one may never come.

A new contract with the middle class is needed for the GOP. End affirmative action by shade of brown and make it need and merit oriented--tha benefits the country and not individuals pet races that then act like spoiled children when don´t get their way.

When I was 8 years old in 1968 I was sitting in the car with my 9 year old brother waiting for my parents to come out of my Grandmother´s house in Detroit. Two black male teens walked by and spit on the window at us. I was very confused because I couldn´t figure out why they would do that. Every month we would come and visit my Grandmother and my dad would have to fix another window that some black kid had thrown a brick through. She finally had to move because kids would get on her roof and "party" up there. But heaven forbid we stereotype! Some things (people) will never change.

This white black President and his attorney general are baiting white people.
He wants nothing better than an excuse....
His comments today are disgusting, but then so is he disgusting. He could have done great good today with the right words, but he is the opposite of MLK,Jr...instead, he chose to incite and to build on the blacks´ hatred of whites.
I hate him twice as much as he hates me.
I am ashamed that this racist is President.

The Great Ozbama speaks but doesn´t answer whether Trayvon would rather be dead or red?

I know, awful but still apt since the attention bids going on are so annoying.

He was right about one thing. The youth are much less racist and homophobic than are older people. As a statistician, I believe this fact alone explains shifting attitudes in these domains. We call it a ´cohort effect´. Put simply, the racists and homophobes are dying off, but not fast enough in light of some of the comments from some of the people (a minority) on this site.

When he said that if he had a son he would have looked a lot like Trayvon Martin, the real point was that his son would look nothing like Jorge Zimmerman. Now he doubles down and says that Zimmerman might as well have shot the President of the United States. He may as well have called for a death fatwa on Zimmerman as an act of patriotism. Our president, like our AG, does not identify as an American, but only as the leader of "my people," blacks, wherever they might be, but particularly in those conflicts which can be construed (by whatever tortured logic) in opposition to whites. Our president is an unapologetic racist.

I did click the locks on my car doors while a huge black man stood glaring at me from the curb one evening. He heard the click and started yelling at me while approaching my car. "OH YOU GONNA LOCK YO DOORS ON ME?" he screamed. The light was still red but I gunned my car and roared through it anyway. Left him eating my dust.

Just when you thought all this bullcrap was winding down the Obamboozler lights another fire under it. We can ultimately see empirically that the true measure of this man is that he is at his fundamental core a community/communist organizer and that his only goal is to inflame, divide and incite unrest. There is no effort to unify or placate. There is no though, word or deed what so ever on his part to work as one nation under God for liberty and justice for all. That goes against everything he stands for!

You know, there is all this talk about racism, stand your ground and other such "stuff" but the real deal we need to talk about is what Martin L. King said many years ago. It has NOTHING to do with color; it has everything to do with character! When all these idiots start talking about that instead of black and racism, I´ll join the conversation. Until then they have no ground to stand on and aren´t worthy of a reply and that includes what passes for our president.

From Wikipedia:

http://tinyurl.com/mxx3ro4

For violent crime by race in 2011, 59.4% of those arrested were white [caucasians constitute roughly 72% of US pop.], 38.3% were black [blacks constitute roughly 13% of US population], and 2.2% were of other races.[18] For persons arrested for homicide in 2011, 49.7% were black, 48% were white, and 2.3% were of other races.[18]

I gather that Hispanics are now classed as "white," thus statistics are slanted to show caucasian Americans commit a higher percentage of crimes than they actually do.

More from Wikipedia:

According to a 2009 report by the Pew Hispanic Center, in 2007 Latinos "accounted for 40% of all sentenced federal offenders-more than triple their share (13%) of the total U.S. adult population". This was an increase from 24% in 1991. 72% of the Latino offenders were not U.S. citizens. For Hispanic offenders sentenced in federal courts, 48% were immigration offenses and 37% drug offenses. One reason for the large increase in immigration offenses is that they exclusively fall under federal jurisdiction.[17]

http://tinyurl.com/n8hbqfc

There is also a Sanford crime stats page. Seems that the median violent crime rate nationally is 3.9; in Sanford it´s 6.9.

http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/fl/sanford/crime/

I saw somewhere that caucasians have a 250% higher chance of being attacked by blacks than by whites. Couldn´t find a footnote so no link.

I do know from crime reporting days that very few police officers go looking for suspicious acts--they´re far too busy answering 911 calls. Generally speaking, they can only be reactive these days, not proactive.

It is unconscionable for the POTUS ,elected by the majority of white people , to declare

For Obama to declare that Trayvon would have been justified in shooting the white Hispanic George Zimmerman ,
the beaten underdog,
is no different than inciting a riot.
Obama just gave the all clear for blacks to prey upon and shoot whites.

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Like all mergers, the proposed $45.2 billion Comcast CMCSA +1.13% merger with Time Warner Cable TWC +0.69%—the largest and second largest cable providers in the nation—has its advocates and critics. There are certainly important questions about what impact the merger would have on consumers—but there are equally significant issues associated with the highly politicized approval process. The Obama Department of Justice, led by Eric Holder, must review the merger and decide whether to approve or block it. Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive
