Fact Check: Obama Spins
Health Insurance Rebates

Associated Press, by Calvin Woodward

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 7/19/2013 4:24:29 AM

WASHINGTON -- Another year, another round of exaggeration from President Barack Obama and his administration about health insurance rebates. In his speech defending his health care law Thursday, Obama said rebates averaging $100 are coming from insurance companies to 8.5 million Americans. In fact, most of the money is going straight to employers who provide health insurance, not to their workers, who benefit indirectly. Obama danced around that reality in remarks that also blamed problems in establishing affordable insurance markets on political opponents, glossing over complex obstacles also faced in states that support the law.

Spend thousands on insurance and maybe get a hundred bucks back. What a deal! I think I´ll buy two policies and double my rebate.

Fairy dust from Obama is an appropriate name for his utterings. He certainly has the walk to support it.

Health Insurance rates are still climbing an average of 10% per year. Even if $100.00 is being distributed, that´s a drop in the bucket.

And where is the rebate coming from? Taxes, of course. Another Obama shell game.

So let´s get this straight.

Our family´s medical insurance increased over $200 a month for the "same plan."

But the deductible doubled.

And I´m supposed to be happy about a $100 rebate check I didn´t even get.

Don´t expect this Associated Press story to show up in too many newspapers. My guess it´s already been spiked and ol´ Calvin has been reassigned to the Obits desk.

Rebate, sure. Shell game people. If a company offers a good or service for sale and is successful, it does so at a profit. That profit makes the company a sound investment for others if traded publicly. If the Won understood this, he wouldn´t be out there stipulating to said companies how they must split the ratio of overhead/cost from the service provided, in this case insurance coverage. Keep in mind that there has always been competition between providers believe it or not.

If he does understand this, and this is the truly horrible likelihood, then this is just another devious manuever intended to force companies out of the business thereby leaving only our precious government the last man standing to provide that service. This service, of course, that we are all now unconstitutionally required by our government to purchase.

Does anyone with an IQ higher than a potato chip honestly believe a government run insurance would ever have overhead of less than about 90%? This overhead will of course be paid by us either directly or through taxes.

I truly despise these people.

Redistricting in Utah Makes

SALT LAKE CITY— Utah earned an additional congressional seat following the 2010 census, and Republican state lawmakers in charge of the redistricting process used that opportunity to slice up the district of seven-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Matheson into four parts. Matheson ran in the 4th District in 2012 and won, but just barely. He held off Republican Mia Love by fewer than 800 votes in the most expensive congressional race in state history. Now Matheson isn´t seeking re-election and the odds are a Republican will win the seat. Matheson has dismissed speculation that his decision to retire was spurred by fear he

In more than a decade of campaigns for the California Legislature, San Francisco mayor and secretary of state, state Sen. Leland Yee raised in excess of $5 million. Yet it was a campaign debt only a fraction of that amount that federal officials allege pulled the veteran politician into a sprawling sting operation. The 137-page FBI affidavit against Yee and more than 20 other defendants says the San Francisco Democrat’s focus on retiring a $70,000 campaign debt from his unsuccessful 2011 mayor’s race and raising money for his 2014 candidacy for secretary of state led him to accept bribes in return

Last week, the FBI received a lot of attention and praise from conservative sources for finally eliminating the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) from its website’s list of “hate crimes” resources. However, while a headline at Breitbart says the FBI “dumps [SPLC] as hate crimes resource,” and an article at The Daily Caller said the FBI was “breaking ties” with the SPLC, a public statement from the FBI and the agency’s own website indicate the removal may mean just that — removal from the site, not a diminishing of the relationship between the two organizations. A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. The push from the commander in chief, generals and politicians to punish sexual offenders has become so relentless that it endangers the fairness of the military justice system, defense lawyers say. They worry that a cacophony of public statements vouching for accusers and demanding justice can sway military judges and jurors who are trained to take lawful orders. A military judge already has ruled that “unlawful command influence” infected the infamous case of an Army general charged with a string of sex offenses. “I think it’s troublesome when you have the president and the secretary of defense making certain pronouncements about what’s to
