Napolitano Leaving DHS
Under Cloud of Suspicion

Townhall, by Rachel Alexander

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano suddenly announced last week that she was resigning her position at the embattled agency in order to take a $750,000-a-year job as president of the University of California system. (Snip) The timing of her resignation is highly unusual for a member of the president’s cabinet. Most cabinet members who leave after a president’s first term don’t wait an extra six months into the second term. Many believe she abruptly left DHS because of some sordid dealings that are about to be discovered. Her tenure at DHS has been characterized by back-to-back lawsuits and multiple

Suspecting politicians of having ulterior or evil motives is frequently productive. At the same time suspecting aging baby-boomers of having had strokes, mini-strokes, or degenerative conditions ~ is not without some basis in fact.

Hildabeast, Billzo, McPain, maybe even Spitzer and Weiner ~ those sorts just standout as good candidates.

What qualifications other than a Democrat politician does she have for a $750,000 a year position in higher level education? As an administrator of one of the most screwed up yet critical departments of the federal government, she should be indicted instead of handed a fantasy job!!

From wikipedia:
"Janet Napolitano was born on November 29, 1957, in New York City, the daughter of Jane Marie (née Winer) and Leonard Michael Napolitano, who was the dean of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine...In 1991, while a partner at Lewis and Roca LLP, Napolitano served as an attorney for Anita Hill."

Quick, did you see that? Senate Democrats just pulled another Washington wink-wink on Obamacare. For those who might need a refresher, the WWW is the old standby of professional Washington politicians from both parties when they need to look like they are doing something concrete when in fact they´re just blowing smoke. In the present case, Senators Mark Warner of Virginia, Mark Begich of Alaska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Manchin of West Virginia are offering a package of Obamacare “fixes.” Maine´s independent Sen. I have no objections to Jeb Bush running for president. He obviously has a wide appeal as a potential candidate. (Snip) His support of Common Core, however, will also find many who are in the conservative ranks objecting, since they fear that Common Core represents educational centralism and having the government ram federal standards down their throats. What I do object to is that Bush is already being heralded as the obvious candidate, the man to whom the big money must and will flow. As the Washington Post reports: Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a

A recently released Pentagon study examines how China is preparing for future conflict and it is vastly different from the future wars envisioned by many in the Pentagon. These warfare techniques allow China to achieve strategic objectives using new military technology that has not been considered in the past by the West. The report concludes the Pentagon

A spectacular Roman Catholic church in Syracuse, NY is about to become the Mosque of Jesus, Son of Mary. Holy Trinity Church, established in 1891, is a stunning piece of Gothic-style architecture with glorious stained glass windows depicting the life of Christ. It was closed in 2010 when the Catholic diocese there blamed a declining number of priests and a population shift from the cities to the suburbs. St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church took over ownership of the building, and it was registered with the Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board. In 2012, St. John’s petitioned the preservation board to sell the

(Snip) When Bill Gates looks at education in America and sees good students and bad students, he probably assumes that these variations are part of the human condition. That’s not a promising problem to focus on. What fascinates Bill Gates is something else entirely: namely, the variety and incoherence from school to school, city to city, and state to state. The Environmental Protection Agency says a rule it proposed this week merely clarifies its existing authority over the nation´s waterways. Republicans say it´s "the biggest land grab in the history of the world," as House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers, R-Ky., called it. There is some certainty about the EPA´s rule defining the waters of the United States -- the buzz it has generated is not going away any time soon. The EPA, in conjunction with the Army Corps of Engineers, says the proposed rule would clarify which streams, rivers, wetlands and other waterways are within its regulatory jurisdiction. A University of Virginia student arrested by Alcoholic Beverage Control agents who wrongly believed she´d illegally bought beer when in fact she only had bottled water is seeking $40 million in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. Elizabeth K. Daly, 21, alleges malicious prosecution, six counts of assault and battery and failure to appropriately train ABC agents in the suit which names the state and seven agents involved in her arrest. (Snip) Daly claimed she attempted to flee from the agents because neither were in uniform, one pulled a gun, and the other tried to smash her car window with a flashlight. ´My

Obamacare supporters are taking a bit of a victory lap today after yesterday’s administration announcement that six million people have signed up for private plans under the law, equaling the revised projection put out by the Congressional Budget Office after the botched launch of the exchanges last October. It’s a weak cause for celebration, given that success, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, was originally "at least" seven million people getting covered under the law by the end of March. And as an Obamacare factoid, the six million sign-ups figure just doesn’t tell us all that much

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

President Bill Clinton´s guilty conscience over his affair with Monica Lewinsky – and a desire to repair his shattered reputation by using the State of the Union address – set his speechwriters an unenviable task, newly released archive papers reveal. The former president appeared to be trying to butter up his wife, Hillary Clinton, out of guilt – or perhaps to fool her – before the scandal broke. And he was determined to try to convince the American public afterwards that he was still of a high moral character. The latest batch of documents from the Clinton Library covering his presidency in the

Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey thinks President Barack Obama, a fellow Democrat, was re-elected in 2012 because he ´sucked less´ than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The Nebraskan straight-talker told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that Obama isn´t up to the job of bringing liberals and conservatives to the table to rescue America´s slowly choking entitlement programs. And Obama, he said Wednesday in his Manhattan office, knew full well he was lying when he promised that the Affordable Care Act would allow Americans to keep insurance plans they liked. ´He had to know he was misleading the audience,´ Kerrey said

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or
