Violence, riots don’t materialize
after George Zimmerman’s
verdict, but some in media cry foul

Washington Times, by Ben Wolfgang

Analysts, law enforcement officials and, most of all, the media warned of potential riots and violence in the streets after Saturday night’s acquittal of George Zimmerman. Instead, in the hours after the Hispanic former neighborhood watch volunteer was cleared of murder charges in connection with the February 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, protests across the country mostly were peaceful. Some awoke Sunday morning expecting to hear of overnight chaos, which was heavily hyped by the news media as a possibility — perhaps a certainty — as the verdict drew nearer. But that chaos never materialized,

`Might have turned out different if Tray´s folks didn´t get their million dollar payoff. That´s the endgame for people like this to begin with but of course they´ll milk the supposed racism for all it´s worth anyway.

FTA: "“We saw no violence in this country that was related to this case. We are very proud of the discipline this generation of young people has shown."

Really? In other words, we´re genuinely surprised they haven´t behaved like the uncivilized barbarians they usually are. We tried to get them to misbehave, but they wouldn´t take the bait, so now we´ll take credit for that, too!

Aren´t all those half-white presidents making all the white-histpanics mad about all this? And if you´re about to get beaten up and the thug is black, do you have to check and see if he looks like Trayvon before defending yourself?

At least the seas have stopped rising.

After suffering through crates of eggs on its face and being admonished for carrying the One´s water even though he is always dead wrong, one would think that the media had learned a lesson. But no, they each grovel for a space on AF1 as it tours Africa and prepares for the trip to Martha´s Vineyard.

They won´t change, even on their inevitable path on the way of the dinosaurs. They might as well start wearing checkered suits and white shoes.

The lily white guilt liberal media is showing what out of touch antiques they are. While the majority of citizens of all races are living, working, and playing together, the old media coots are wailing hysterically about slavery & racism. Most, particularly the young, perceive them as crazy old uncles who should be locked up in the attic.

There;s an awful lot of coverage for what disruptions HAVE taken place as a result of this. Surely, the press has people standing by for the first incident anywhere.

I did note that the one Calif gathering that was getting a lot of press seemed small... about 100 people.

Perhaps if you´d had a 90 second tape you could edit down to 10 seconds of sensational stuff and played it over and over again...

White liberals are cowards. They want blacks to do their bidding by rioting. I don´t believe the likes of Harry Reid, Obama or Al Sharpton would risk themselves to harm in the streets. They are the real racist who still treat the blacks as slaves to be used and discarded.
Blacks are used as their instruments of hate just for their votes and political gain.
In this case maybe blacks really weren´t that interested to stand in harm´s way over Trayvon Martin. Maybe the New Black Panthers have lost their H. Rap Brown sixties MoJo.
Just maybe blacks didn´t feel that enthusiastic to have their houses, stores and neighborhoods burned for white politicians, the president and Trayvon Martin.
The likes of CNN just might not touch that many people who believe their propaganda.
I know one thing that jury got it right and Mr. Skittles did a bad thing on that rainy night when he confronted a ´cracker´ that was armed and got himself ´toe tagged´.

If the reporters would take their trucks, their cameras and their mics off the street and go home, the "rioters" would leave. It´s no fun for them if there is no one to take their picture, no one to shove a mic in their face and put them on TV.

The media, just by showing up, fosters and exacerbates this stuff.

We must be on different planets. I saw media coverage all night last night of violent "civil disobedience" in Florida and L.A.

In L.A., a large group managed to shut down both sides of the interstate. There were fires set, windows broken, in both states.

Either it is intentionally being downplayed to prevent inflaming more outbreaks, or the BGI is trying to proclaim they have maintained control over "their" people.

Either way you look at it, it is deceptive. There has been plenty of violence. Not on the scale of the L.A. riots, but let´s not completely ignore facts.

Had enough of that throughout this trial to last me a lifetime.

Interstate 10 runs through downtown Los Angeles and South Los Angeles, which is largely black. A portion of this freeway was closed for about 20 minutes.

I am posting an article from the Los Angeles Times. The "protests" were very small. And appear to be over.

We don´t need to panic.

To the media, in the wake of something like the Zimmerman acquittal which they predicted would set the country afire, a group of more than 20 noisy people waving signs and chanting is a "large group rioting".

Re #20, no one is ignoring this. It just isn´t what the media is trying to portray it as. 80 people at the CNN building? That is not a big riot.

I was amazed that some lady preacher told her congregation that “ we need to raise our voices against the root causes of this kind of tragedy”. If that is what will cure this type of action, I suggest that she look into a mirror. Once that Martin´s background became public knowledge, it was clear that he was just another wannabe teenage thug. And he enjoyed beating up on people. Zimmerman wasn´t the first he attempted to beat on, just the first that had the means to strike back. I´m sorry that it ended that way, but it should be expected, especially in this age of more and more citizens who are armed and prepared to fight back.

This article is contradicted by tv and other media outlets today. Obviously stopping all freeway traffic in LA is a tad chaotic to the drivers. However, the always peaceful and compassionate Al Sharpton is now planning "protests" in 100 cities. He and the DOJ are promoting dissension and in my opinion hope very much that the protests turn violent. Otherwise their viewpoint is muted, just as the jury verdict accomplished. "Thinking" members of the Black community have got to know these actions are not beneficial to their common cause. Laws are in place already for the protection of everyone. Real Black leaders should speak out publicly AGAINST Sharpton and his vile racist and race-baiting
activities, so that ill-informed folks don´t turn into criminals following his lead. Anyone note that Mr Zimmerman Hispanic- BLACK- and white based on his ancestry, NOT a White-Hispanic as portrayed in the hysteria producing MSM>

Funny, on this site it minimizes riotous, anarchist behavior in the streets and on Drudge, headlines scream the opposite. I read of 80 people in one city and 400 in another. Quite ignorable if the presstitutes didn´t have a political agenda?

The Trayvon Martin trial is a disaster for the black community. It was sketchy at best - a man shoots a teeage attacker. No fair minded normal individual without an axe to grind would even consider anything other than possibly excessive force during self defence. Now vitually every Hispanic and Anglo sees the African-Amercan community as so racist that they cannot be trusted with even the most basic legal, ethical or moral issues. Wow, I never thought I´d see such self destructive behavior.

Here’s a partial list of liberal "dog whistles" related to this case:

Referring to Zimmerman as “white” or “white-Hispanic”, as having “tracked” or “followed” Trayvon, as a “wanna-be cop”, as having “ignored a police order (or request) to stay in his truck”, as having “profiled” Trayvon for “being black” and “wearing a hoodie”, as having been “the aggressor”, or as being a “vigilante”.

Referring to Trayvon Martin as a “child”, as “unarmed”, as “armed with only Skittles and Iced Tea”, as “being gunned down”, as “on his way home from 7-11” [and ignoring that he bought 2 of the 3 ingredients (the 3rd being cough syrup) for making “lean” or “purple drank”], or as having “done nothing to provoke Zimmerman”.

Continuing to refer to Zimmerman as “a murderer” or as having “murdered Trayvon” “in cold blood”.

“Gated Community” with its connotation of being a compound of lily-white privilege.

“A black child is dead”, and “Zimmerman (or “the man who shot him”) goes free”.

“If the roles were reversed”, or “if Trayvon had been white and Zimmerman had been black”.

I still contend that Zimmerman’s Jewish-sounding name and that the incident occurred in a gated community contributed to the racial meme.

Since more and more has come out about St. Skittles´ thugish background, something has been roiling around in my head. It´s always been a puzzle to me, what made the thug-in-training so violent that night. What made him go after Zimmerman. I think I know.

I think Martin was not only staying at Brandy´s townhouse, I think he was also using his time there to case the complex for burglary. I think his intention that night was to drop off the Skittles and watermelon drink to the young kid, and then go back out and do a little breaking and entering. Zimmerman thwarted his plan, and that´s what made him mad.

Since the word got out about the stolen jewelry and burglary tools in the bookbag at school, that´s how I´ve put it together.

I think the kid was a powder keg, it didn´t take much to set him off, and when Zimmerman saw him skulking around the complex, he knew he was being watched, the plan to burglarize a residence was shot down, and he got mad.

I´ve never seen him as being so kind as to volunteer to walk a mile in the rain to a convenience store for his little "brother." He had something altogether different in mind. I could be wrong . . .

Rare statement? This POTUS can´t keep his mouth shut about "local" issues. I cannot think in 8 years in office if President Bush mentioned local politics in such a divisive and destructive manner as this POS.

#39 ~ youthful thieves usually have the backing of a Fagin-like person who arranges marketing opportunities. (note: that´s not usually the case with youthful vandals)

More likely Trayvon was not working alone but had, in fact, done what he was told ~ heavy rain that evening was good cover for some casing. The only reason he was in that town rather than a Miami suburb was because he was kicked out of school for hitting a bus driver, etc!

I believe Martin and the girlfriend have moved on to someone else´s neighborhood ~ she was just renting.

BTW, a minor thing, but when you go looking for the nearest 7/11 to that community you´ll find you are led to a different one than the one Trayvon visited. However, a pedestrian on foot would find it the closest. Just one of the problems involved in doing internet forensics ~ the search algorithms think you are driving a car. Some of the earliest information concerning the whens and hows of where Zimmerman first spied Martin are interesting to research ~ and there´s a couple of security videos of Martin at the 7/11 about which there are numerous commentaries. I think they are off the target but he does seem to have encountered some older guys, and that´s quite in line with the idea he was involved in a burglary ring.

I don´t doubt there´s been some smashing and rioting, but compared to the Rodney King debacle, this has been very minor. The press can´t quite believe that the magic spell didn´t work the second time, and they didn´t have dramatic footage of burning city blocks to fill the hours and days after the trial. And I´m sure Obama was practicing his "look concerned" act and had a speech on how "This is a crisis and the government must!" and it´s all wasted.

I think the air went out of the race hustlers´ game when Zimmerman´s big dumb girlfriend testified. She was so grossly ignorant and slatternly, and illiterate to boot, I think even blacks who´d been successfully brainwashed to believe the racist narrative shuddered with embarrassment and turned away. Once we knew her, we knew Trayvon, and the game was up.

Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. The Obama administration is poised to change regulations to allow for union “ambush elections” in which workers have less time to decide whether or not to join a union — and in which workers’ phone numbers and home addresses are provided to unions. The administration’s National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) proposed rules would allow for union elections — in which workers at a company vote whether or not to unionize — to be held 10 days after a petition is filed. And what, exactly, would be happening to the unions during those 10 days? The new rules require employers to disclose

It’s certainly easier than defending ObamaCare’s broken promises, or even providing the breakdowns behind that 8 million top-line number that would let us measure if the program is getting the sign-ups it needs. Increasingly, however, it seems that the “shut up and move on” trope has become the go-to response of liberals on

Oklahoma will charge homeowners

A disturbing story out of the Sooner State this week, noted by Doug Mataconis at Outside the Beltway. Under the terms of a recently passed bill, expected to be signed by Governor Mary Fallin, homeowners who install their own private solar or wind turbine energy resources and sell some of the juice back to energy companies will be paying a fee for the privilege. Utility customers who want to install rooftop solar panels or small wind turbines could face extra charges on their bills after legislation passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Monday. Senate Bill 1456 passed 83-5 after no debate

Easter 2014: A celebration of hope

Over 2 billion people are celebrating Easter today, April 20, as the calendars of Western and Eastern churches coincide this year, and these billions of faithful people are celebrating HOPE. The Easter message begins with the hopeful news that death has been overcome by life, that hatred has been overcome by love, and that sorrow has been overcome by joy. The elements of the story involve women arriving at a garden tomb and finding it empty, but even better, meeting the risen Lord, the embodiment of life and love. Their lives are changed forever and so are the lives of many, many

Gorgeous Easter Eggs From the

Chocolatiers love a holiday, be it Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or Easter. The French version of the Easter Bunny is Easter Bells (les cloches de Pâques)—which allegedly fly to Rome for a few days before the holiday to be blessed by the Pope before returning with chocolate eggs for the kids. But you don’t have to hunt very far to find French chocolate and pastry shop windows full of Easter eggs all trying to out-cute, out-class, or simply out-design one another. Good-looking pastries and other sweets are a modestly priced pleasure in France. But like fashion designers, French patissiers and chocolatiers

WHAT ARE the implications for Taiwan of China’s continued rise? Not today. Not next year. No, the real dilemma Taiwan will confront looms in the decades ahead, when China, whose continued economic growth seems likely although not a sure thing, is far more powerful than it is today. Contemporary China does not possess significant military power; its military forces are inferior, and not by a small margin, to those of the United States. Beijing would be making a huge mistake to pick a fight with the American military nowadays. China, in other words, is constrained by the present global balance

The immediate "crisis" portion of the standoff involving the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy over his cattle grazing on federal land ended last week. Whether this will be end of Bundy´s troubles with the BLM, who have been in court with him over his refusal to pay fees to them for decades, remains to be seen, with the Bundys reporting that they´ve received registered mail from the BLM this week that they haven´t opened yet. I blogged about a lot of the factual background of the conflict here, with links to some relevant court documents. This story

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

The Clintons had a busy night of celebrations after Chelsea announced she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting a baby. Bill joined “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey at the Revlon Rainforest Fund Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall Thursday, joking of Spacey’s Machiavellian character, “When I was president people accused me of murder all the time, made a show of investigating. President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist

(You always hear and read of a “fiasco,” a “defeat” a “disaster” at the Bay of Pigs, 53 years ago this week. But you rarely hear about the cause. Here it is.) "They fought like tigers," writes the CIA officer who helped train the Cubans who splashed ashore at the Bay of Pigs 53 years ago this week. "But their fight was doomed before the first man hit the beach." That CIA man, Grayston Lynch, knew something about fighting – and about long odds. He carried scars from Omaha Beach, The Battle of the Bulge and Korea´s Heartbreak Ridge. But
