President Obama and his family will return to Martha´s Vineyard for vacation, the White House confirmed Friday. A White House official confirmed the President and the First Lady will travel to Martha´s Vineyard on Saturday, August 10. They will remain on the Vineyard until Sunday, August 18, when they will return to Washington, D.C. The White House said there are no public events scheduled at this time. (Snip) Houses were rented, inquiries were made and there was talk — plenty of it — about where the president intends to stay now that he has lost his favored beach rental

Great comment #1 and so appropriate! He has had more vacations in 4 1/2 years than I ever took as an officer in a national company, during the 30+ years I worked there. Even when I was a full-time teacher for the seven years prior to the national company I didn´t log in as much vacation time with the two careers combined. When does he work?

Having delved into some deep constitutional issues and philosophical debates the past couple of columns, let’s get into the political nitty-gritty this week, and specifically how this year’s midterm elections are shaping as a good year — a very good year — for Republican House and Senate candidates. I think in many ways the outlines of the 2014 campaign have already been set: All the polls show that the American people have lost their trust and confidence in President Obama and the Democrats (only in part because of Obamacare’s troubles), and unless the Republicans mess things up over the next

Black students are more likely to be suspended from U.S. public schools — even as tiny preschoolers. Black children represent about 18 percent of children in preschool programs in schools, but they make up almost half of the preschoolers who are suspended more than once, the report said. First lady Michelle Obama will not take questions from reporters or give interviews during her tour of China that begins today, and members of the press corps who usually follows the first family everywhere have been banned from the trip. The resulting picture is one of an expensive, taxpayer-funded vacation for Mrs. Obama, her two daughters, and her mother – and not the official good-will journey the White House has promised.
