Of Democratic rats
and sinking ships

American Thinker, by Phillip Cowan

Original Article

According to legend, seafaring rats may possess an almost supernatural psychic ability to predict the future or to interpret natural lore such that they would have foreknowledge of the doom of the ship. They would leave, swim away, and take their chances in the open water rather than going down with the ship. Absent scientific data to confirm the legend, the metaphor "like rats leaving a sinking ship" seems to have taken on a life of its own that may be used to describe certain committed leftists

I would like to agree but....I feel it is more likely just the "Musical Chairs" of non-accountability at work here.

1-Over promise.
2-Fail miserably.
3-Bring in new managers.
4-Declare problem solved.
5-Claim further promotion for outstanding management.

After enduring gales of laughter in response to the Pajama Boy Gambit, the folks at Organizing for Action, aka my.barackobama.com, have turned to the stalest cliché possible in an effort to put lipstick on the healthcare.gov pig. This email came out on Valentine´s Day (hat tip: A.M. Mora y Leon): Remember giving out valentines in grade school? This is a holiday that gives us all an excuse to send cute messages to anyone we want. This year, there´s no better way to let friends know you care than by sharing an Adorable Care Act valentine. The United Auto Workers Union lost a hugely important unionization election vote at Volkswagen´s Chattanooga, Tennessee assembly plant, going down to defeat in a 712-626 vote (53%-47%), with roughly 165 workers, or 11%, not voting. Thus, in fact, only 41.65% of the total workforce voted in favor of unionization. This is a historic defeat for unionization of the private sector (snip)The American union movement is now even more solidly a government employee phenomenon, which makes it all the more vulnerable to public opinion which is shifting to a negative opinion towards it, as self-serving and greedy. I suppose we owe US Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue thanks for his candor on immigration. (snip) "Immigration can also address labor shortages in lesser-skilled fields where there are insufficient numbers of either qualified or willing U.S. workers to fill positions." Let´s unpack that statement. What kinds of qualifications are necessary for low- or unskilled positions? In fact, a willingness to work -- to show up on time, apply oneself with reasonable diligence and learn through experience -- is the sole qualification for such positions. Although Donohue does not say so, the sad fact is that many, many Americans who are

There is a stark question that remains largely unspoken, as Hillary Clinton dominates polling and super-PAC fundraising, as the all-but-decided Democrat candidate for the 2016 presidential race. What if she doesn´t run? (snip)Queue the laugh track as Joe Biden surges to front-runner status? The polite way of expressing the problem is that he is "gaffe-prone." Here is another "red line" for the president. After endless and lawless tweaking and rewriting the Affordable Care Act aka ObamaCare, there now can be a definitive declaration of a group being harmed. Employers with 50 to 99 employees have been given yet another one of these fiat waivers from Obama. And the employers with over 100 employees can now cry foul, and even a Democrat might see the inconsistencies and injustices of the recent waiver. Employers with over 100 employees -- say 110 -- are still bound to obey and incur fines, no taxes, (or is a penalty?). They are being placed

President Obama has broken many promises. One that he has not broken is his boast that he would "fundamentally transform America." He and his fellow Democrats are on the verge of doing just that by turning us into a nation of loafers. A loafer is an idle person who lives off others. Barack Obama seemingly has no problem with such people. He might even relate to them. He does have a serious problem with his own work ethic, and finds work boring. Once again, bitter feelings are being cast in the direction of Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. With the House passing the “clean” debt ceiling bill and sending it to the Democratic-controlled Senate, it was clear that this particular bill was going to be passed and sent to the president for his signature. But Cruz didn´t want to let Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., off the hook and give President Obama a blank check to once again increase the debt ceiling as we are drowning in red ink. He didn't want Republicans to simply vote against the bill, hiding behind the Democrat majority who were sure to pass it.
